Come with Soft Focus as we retreat from the world and into the woods in search of some forgotten remedy for lame stream radio pollution, hideous condominiums, and brutish power tripping police. In between walks around the lake and contemplating existence, we'll interview some of the most intriguing artists of this underground rock and roll culture we covet as our own cure for the world's square minded music industry. In Noisey's long form interview show, Soft Focus, we delve deep into the minds and hearts of some of the most influential and seminal musicians to grace the underground stage. Видеоклипы
Very often I hear people claiming that Buzz is an asshole, but I think it's just that people aren't used to hearing famous people that are this blunt and honest. He doesn't take himself seriously at all and It's really refreshing. We need more people like him in my opinion... Great interview
Dylan Quinn
Duh
Is buzz "famous"?
he obviously doesn't take himself too seriously, which is pretty rare in the music business.
the Gene Simmons story is priceless!
I think some people mistake Buzz's anger over losing his friend to heroin, as some kind of jealousy. Buzz is refreshingly honest, with a sense of humor, I could listen to him shoot the shit all dy!
Buzz jokes about EVERYTHING. I find it refreshing. He doesnt take things serious except his music. Hes extremely intelligent but plays a goof on interviews
There's an underlying straight answer in that "technique'. I find it pleasantly enlightening. What a solid dude.
Buzz could have been a comedian if he wasn't in music
It isn't an either or
He'd heckle himself and leave the stage.
I was just about to make this comment. He really needs to do both. Fn cracks me up!
Once I got to the portion of the interview that involved Buzzo's musings on KISS, I just found myself staring at the computer with a big smile on my face. Never laughing out loud, just staring at the computer with a big grin, never wanting this interview to end. Buzzo needs to run for president.
I once saw Buzz put his guitar down in front of his Amp, walk off the stage into the parking lot, get in a compact car and drive off while his band was still playing.
Pretty sure that's what happened on the tour I went and saw them. In fact, everyone left, except for Jared from Big Business still on stage fucking around with his iPhone somehow making weird drone noises on the amp for about 10 minutes. Then he left too.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Buzz, Dale and their at-the-time bassist Mark D in 1997, Dale and Buzz are both absolutely hilarious, Dale being dead-pan and sarcastic and Buzz happy and taking the piss out of everything (in a lovely and pleasant way).
Buzz is so hilarious in this. I seriously laughed so hard I was in tears. And the interviewer looks so ridiculous! Oh man, too much. Wish I had seen them with Big Business...
I love how Buzz plays down his music. Like saying how they played slow because they were drunk! There is actually so much thought in those songs but he's not arrogant about it. I love the guy. So talented but he's never taken himself seriously. Go on buzz, you are a legend.
Buzz laugh is a narcotic.
Buzzo off dat orange goblin
love that he hasnt changed... keeps it so real and says f-it to p.c. we need more of the 3 dimensions
Buzz needs his own show!
The interviewer looks a cross between Nick Cave and Phil Dumphy
I really wish they would bring soft focus back. We need it more than ever now.
Buzz is a Disney nerd! I seen him at Disneyland a couple of times. I went up to him and talked to him, and he is a totally cool dude! The Haunted Mansion shirt says it all. Buzz and the Melvins rule!!!!!!! :)
One of the most entertaining interviews I've seen in a while.
Thank YOU!
Lol Buzz kissed his own wrist when shaking hands at the end.
I always quote Buzz in this interview out of habit. He's fucking hilarious.
"Grunge" was not meant to be a genre or category of music. It was simply a word used in a biography press release to describe the sound of Mudhoney's debut 1988 ep "SuperFuzz BigMuff" (Johnathan Poneman of Sub Pop Records 1993)
The Interviewer was the leas singer of Nation Of Ulysses, one of the coolest DC hardcore bands EVER. He probably toured with or opened for all of the people he's interviewing.
Absolute best Buzz interview. It's amazing how "I don't give a fuck" he is about saying what he wants. Pure. Legend.
Buzz Osbourne , The Melvins, the Greatest!
The interviewer looks like some weird combo of Christian Bale & Anthony kedis playing a gay vampire.
His delivery is somewhat dry, but he grabs you with his infectious laugh. King Buzzo is the man, hahaha.
11:53 dale crover in background, love it
pretty hilarious
why wasn't he nterviewed 2?
Brian Lang maybe buzz was promoting his solo album the time
good spotting!
Jared Warren is in the background too
This is an awesome interview with Buzz.
I actually like the host, fun interview
You have two geniuses in one room having some epically fun talk here. NUFF SAID.
"Trust and understanding. I don't trust him, he doesn't understand me."
He's a fast-mouthed, funny, great dude with a sense of fucking good rock music taste'n'beat shit'n'stuff.
I relly like how escessively realistic he is, most people think he is a downer, a pessimist, he just says things how they are.
That interviewer is something else, man. Can't help but think the suit and the hair was all a joke... I mean, it had to be... Right?
He's from Nation of Ulysses and The Make-Up. Besides Melvins, he's got more respect than anyone else in that room
@Josh Weaver Sorry but *too not to (i'm sorry for that, but it's hard to take the rest of what people say seriously when they don't seem to know basic words like that, it makes people question their intelligence and if they should even bother to pay attention to the rest of what they say. I'm sorry to be like that!!)
Anyway, who's "most"? Like you talked everyone ever and that's what everyone thinks? Where's your information from on this popular opinion? no offense. Also, i'm just saying where he comes from is pretty influential, so it seems like people dissing it might not know that he was in those bands, and not just some dipshit reporter they got to do this for no other reason than his hair and tooth
This interview is located somewhere in the Hipster multiverse which is 99.999999% empty space. It appears to be the one destination in that shithole worth the opportunity cost of the aether it occupies which makes it, marginally, worth a visit.
@@slimjimmyification
He made some of the greatest punk/post hardcore records on Dischord Records, produced by Ian MacKaye and had people like Bikini Kill on backing vocals.
Ian Svenonius is as much a part of US underground punk history as Buzz.
@@hb-fc3jj Thank you for correcting me.
This guy is epic! I hope he interviews more artists.
The interviewer is Ian Svenonius. For all these fuckheads below, look up Nation of Ulysses. This guy was old school DC punk. Fucking badass.
Once again. So good! Thanks!
"I'll go outside and chew through trees like a beaver." He is hilarious.
Listen to Nation of Ulysses if you're curious about putting "the interviewer" (Ian Svenonius) into context. He's awesome. Look up Chain and the Gang while you're at it. All hail King Buzzo!
Can we please get a full video of Ian eating that popsicle? Thank you.
I get to see them in four days can’t wait❤
ya know,Buzz really is a cool guy.
Awesome interview! love the Melvins, he is hilarious!
Ian and Buzz - two of my heroes back in the day and two I'd never have thought would meet - certainly not like this! Life is strange!
I'm obsessed with the Soft Focus theme song.
The best interview ever, haha...
I love this interview. Very interesting interviewer as well.
Great show, great guest.
KING BUZZO IS MY SPIRIT ANIMAL....
Buzz is fascinating, and a testament to how people’s perceptions of us often defy logic. He’s just so immediately likable, despite the bluntness and seeming negativity. If you were to read a transcript of things he says in interviews, you might be liable to think, “This guy’s kind of a dick.” But when you see the interview, he’s just so damn charming despite it all
This interview is so damn perfect
Hahaha great interview , Buzz is very real , what ya see is what ya great - punk attitude
Is this satire or is this intro really that full of itself?
Anon ymous its satire c'mon
both and i love it
I think he’s fucking around😁
He has to be fucking about! Its pretty funny imo!
It's satirical. Dude was in the punk band Nation of Ulysses and wrote a companion zine that was full of jokey pseudo-pop-politics. His lyrics were always over the top. Cool dude, imo.
Great interview!
Sideshow Buzz. That hair is fuckin' boss! ;) Funny guy!
That Big Business tour was epic
What I like about the Melvins, that they keep doin their weird thing for 30 Years.
King Buzzo is the man! what an interview!
This fucking interviewer makes Buzz look like a genius.
"[KISS] were really nice to us."
"So what constitutes being nice?"
"Uhhh...they treated us well?"
it helps that Buzz *is* a genius as well.
Agreed
" Doing blow with Hendrix...SURE!!
Every interview Buzz does, he says something controversial or rude then laughs really weird to play it off lol
Buzz is the wiseman his laugh is music
buzz is brutally honest! love it
The energizer Buzzy lol
Good stuff!
Great interview really~
Buzz is such a card 😂
Lemmys dead. I'm glad this dudes still rolling.
This guy is way more a person than lemmy
Is this Ian's first time talking to a human being?
Agree! And not only in this interview
totally over my head that this is the singer for nation of ulysses... very sick interview, band, interviewer and show.... thanks for video
I love buzz !
The Melvins are bigger than Jesus!
Buzz Osbourne is Sideshow Bob's long lost twin brother.
The Interviewer reminds me of the dad from modern Family.
Even the voice, dang
i love your fearlessness Buzz.
Rumour has it that Buzz Osbourne was the first Buzz to actually make it into space.
I love Buzz lol he's hilarious!
Watching the interview do a cartoonish *GULP* when Buzz says "I invented the term Grunge" is hilarious!
As someone who has been through montesano many times he is totally right. its got like a gas station off the highway and some restaurants but not much to do.
11:49 was that a fart?
It sounded more like a shart, due to the textural ambience. Excellent observation!
this is so hilarious jajajajajaa love it
Isnt that Dale sat on the stairs at 12 minutes?
"I made up the term and was instantly offended." I LOLed.
lol the first thing Buzz says after he sits down... awesome
Never realized Buzz was so funny and sarcastic. It's good to see a rock star act like a regular bloke.
One of the best performances of Buzz with or without a band
"singer, composer, guitar player for the melvins." like there's an entity "the melvins" and they hired this guy
I feel like the intro is making fun of hamilton from hamiltons pharmacopea
💀
Say what you want. Ian Svenonius seems to be a nice guy to hang out with and he does a great job here! And King Buzzo is funny as hell!
good stuff
The Seattle area has very grounded, intelligent and interesting people
1:43 Buzz almost cracking up from looking and listening to the dude across him...
8:17 "We all love Judy"
sehr gut
"there is? 👀"
Haaaa lol
He is so funny .. I love it lol
Shane Smith Exec Produced this?! WOW. The man is on everything cool on youtube.
Poor Buzz being in a room full of hipsters

@@cleftturnip7774 it's a word people use to describe someone whos slightly different
epic, Yow and Buzz on Beefheart...love all this shit.
"What would Captain Beefheart do?"
It is always nice when the obscure but influentual artist you enjoy enjoys another obscure but influential artist you enjoy.
the guy doing the interview is killing me
"how chic!" holy shit, Gene Simmons said something clever.
The intro is some of the most pompous bullshit I've ever had the displeasure to be exposed too.
Buzzo is cool tho.
NazZ4 f zz Es 3 x TUst z5a
At first I thought it was joke.
+eɔuarongI yW ǝƃılbO Wait, its NOT a joke?
+mrmeatymeatball the intro was absolute rubbish, goodness
