Thank you for this upload. I love seeing Cat / Chan just having fun. Whatever terms that's on. I'm glad she's been doing better. Esp as of just recent. She's doing another walk at sobriety as of today. And I hope she keeps foing. We need her jere.
I used to have such a crush on her! I only saw her once live and it was a disappointment. The friend I went hated her music, she was completely wasted and some guy tried to start a fight with me. What kind of A-hole starts a fight at a Cat Power concert?!?
This interview is so incredibly authentic. In the realm of "interviews" I would say that this is the state of mind most are in--but editing, coaching, managers, contracts, publicists, and barbiturates keep that behavior at bay. So what does the world see?...Super glamorous interviews where people do not embrace or own their insecurities, anxieties, disorders-- further perpetuating this american "brick in the wall" phony goal of "Normal". Watching this interview was, for me, cathartic. Sober or straight, our individual "issues" never escape us. Meaning OCD, ADD, Social Anxiety, all that shit doesn't disappear with sobriety. As an artist myself, I consider my rolodex of "issues" a trampoline for creativity. I really wish interviews like this were more mainstream. I think it would allow the families watching tv at night to say "wow, that is exactly how I would be in an interview" or "omg, I would be so nervous too" RATHER than watching letterman interview some celebutante, and thinking "wow, i really need to lose weight" or "wow, I am so unaccomplished". What the fuck is so terrible about being able to relate to people? Chan is by far the bravest, most authentic human being I have yet to see. Her neurosis are the incubator to her ideas and incredibly authentic personal work. The phrase "what is wrong with him or her" assumes that there is some manufactured, perfect version of the human species. Which there is NOT.
Yes, Yes, Yes!!!! I am a musician, and I am also bipolar, which I have learned to use in my favor for creativeness, just like you said! My manic episodes are so beneficial to my writing!!! Well said!
This became really sweet and adorable the further it went along. Fun, playful interview with a master interviewer she clearly trusts and enjoys. (At the beginning i just wanted to hold her hand and say, you're doing great. But he did the same thing with his words and comforting energy.) And loved that impromptu taste of her new song when she reached peak confidence. She's magic. Well done to the both of them!
I love how in the intro, it seems like he had several topics in mind and like a whole plan thought out for the interview. But as soon as Chan began to talk, everything took a different turn. Edit: from 8:28 to 14:05 they do touch interesting topics. I just meant, that she is very unpredictable in her conversations.
Omg don’t forget mike Myers and Chris Farley!!!By the way Cat powers is amazing I love her music so much,Her voice and the way she moves is magical...And I like this guy doing the interview he seems very intellectually stimulating...And I respect all weirdos for I am one myself...
Reuben Walton the guy held up a book and it went to number 1 so she asked how do you get a book to him because she wants to write a number 1 best selling book.
I don`t get out much. Just saw tkts. on sale $195ea nearby. Used to like her old stuff and was surprised she`s still alive. Played some of her new stuff and not thrilled with it. Times sure change.
how can you not love this woman?
This looks like it was shot in the1970s. She is beautiful and I have most of her albums
@Nash Tarique Hood neat

She's sorted herself out now_ >without doubt this generation's greatest female singer song writer.....angelic
the comedy value of this is 100000000000/10
I listened to Cat Power for years and never heard an interview with her. I didnt know she was such a fox!
i love that she's been wearing the same shirt for over 10 years lol
Fabio Rigobelo lmao
thats a damn good shirt
if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
Vintage thrift
Sometimes she washes it
I have always had this vision of Chan Marshall as a singer, guitar player of the sixties. Call me weird, that is the vision I have always had of her..
I used to have such a crush on her! I only saw her once live and it was a disappointment. The friend I went hated her music, she was completely wasted and some guy tried to start a fight with me. What kind of A-hole starts a fight at a Cat Power concert?!?
Man, i love cat power. So does Ian, he's stoked

Why? Did it scramble your brain? Maybe he'll repost again using smaller words
this is one HELL of a comment.
hi, from four years in the future!
Her music is amazing

LOL... no. He's not a "master interviewer." He made her 1000 times more nervous and fidgety than she had to be.
This is obviously a fake comment. Literally everybody in rock'n'roll knows him as the clumsy vampire.
Chan is always beautiful but this is probably the most stunning she has ever been (''the greatest'' album era). I think this video must be from 2006?
I've been in love with Chan since 2005. I need help.
I've been in love with her since 1999!
its been 20 mins for me and I need help too xx
Loco Coco so am I
Me too!!

That was a great interview! I love her. Svenonius is funny, kinda smart, kinda subtle.
What? Are we watching the same interview? This one was really strange.
she is damaged but amazing. pretty much defines every influential human.
El Pwahpo omg she's an addict that can sing.
@@msilvaoregon We are all addicts. Whether we can sing, play music and create art is the question.
She’s so funny, sweet southern girl under it all

She's the Billie Holiday of Indie Rock
Been in love with her since the late 90's.
Always loved this lady. What a great songwriter back in the 90s....

Freedom is mine and I know how I feel, it's a new dawn, a new day, a new life, and I'm feeling good, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT ME
Such an enchanting child-woman. "Limited edition," indeed!

Jesus that intro went on and on
I JUST WISH I COULD ARTICULATE
2007.
Is this guy for real?
There is a lot of weird idiosyncratic phrasing and gesturing in this interview, and there is a lot of deadpan humor.
Didn't know you were still doing these. Oh this maybe old, my bad.
this is like 10 yrs old

How many times do they wanna switch camera angles ? Not to mention the horrible interview
It seems funny cause she does seem to yank his chain and toy with him a bit.
She had him once they switched seats
500000 watts of good will
i am the only one here who likes him? in a very strange and sexy way? jhahahahaha

Chan Is too real for the public
It's like Andy and Edie
Great loose interview.
you know you're from a certain generation if you know who the host is
I think I'm from a certain generation but dobt know who he is! Who is he? I like him.
Nation of Ulysses!
I peed next to him at an independent music festival in Dallas, circa 1994, Good times!
Man a lot of you folks are mean
This is Chan Marshall, right? Would someone please tell her I want to marry her?
The interviewer reminds me of the Ferengi "Quark" on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
I see it.

At least someone else does.. 😎😀
He's got that thirsty look
I don't get the joke she made at 17:30 in this video.

JosephO75 oh okay, I guess that kind of makes sense.
yeah its not very funny its just quick deadpan banter

why does Chan look like a boy, because she is
Svenonious fucking rules! He's been in a bunch of great bands. Check out the makeup, nation of Ulysses, and weird war.
The answer is that you have no fucking clue who he is.

I just her live in Detroit, and tickets were $50. I do prefer her older material but the performance was phenomenal. Incredible voice

You'd think these people are important
she is bit restless..
Billy Corgan
