It cools about the same. One advantage is it can run with the truck off. Also it removes the parasitic loss of a mechanical fan. According to forums the mechanical fan takes around 5 hp or so to run.
Doing this currently, how’d you tap into the fuze box for your switch? Forums I was seeing were calling to splice into my ignition wire but I like your way better
I used fuse box extensions. It’s technically not the correct way but it works 10x better than some of the jerry rigs I’ve seen people do over the years.
Would this work if you connected it right to the battery or something else to when you turn the ignition on the fans start? Not a big fan of the switch.
Yes it would. There’s a temp sensor that comes with it that could be put into the head or intake so that the fans comes on when it reaches a certain temperature.
I like the electric fan mod and we'll probably do one myself, but that switch is terrible!
Did this on my 93f150and it ran hotter took fans off the.aluminum plate and mounted directly to radiator better now
Need to do this for my expedition 4.6 2v.
I plan to put electric fans and delete smog on my 1990 and I think I might be able to pick up a couple mpg too
Sounds like a good plan.
I just got my 331 stroked f150 running again ! I need to sort out the fuel tanks and I want to change the fan to an electric .projects , projects.
good video!
Thanks for watching!
I recently installed this on my truck. And I was wondering in your experience does it really cool better that the stock clutch fan ?

@@CarGuyV85 HP? Wow, your fan must have been bigger than helicopter blades.
@@Autonomia_para_Puerto_Rico watch the Engine Masters episode on mechanical fan parasitic loss. I think it’ll really surprise you.

Have the same truck as my first vehicle what upgrades do you recommend
Long tube headers going back to true dual exhaust, 6 liter tune up(look it up), and 4.10 gears. Those 3 things will surprise you a lot.
What kit did you go with? Got a link??
