I think it’s great for Moana Pasifika, and I hope it makes it a bit more legitimate a place for folks to go to as you said. As well as good for that community to get some more class players coming in.
Huge respects from a saffa, picking heritage above Japanese- and French money.
Lol, says the dirt poor guy smh. Don't pay your bills for 3 months straight and see what happens to you 😂 should never knock athletes for going for money because after all this is their only job, for most of them it's a short career.
Adding a world class player can't hurt.
You cant teach an old dog new tricks but hopefully ardie can teach moana greater tricks, this will really make this team better
Certainly a boost for those players. Thank you Ardie for what you’ve given us over the years.
Did not see that one coming! Fair play Mr Savea. Here's hoping for a much more competitive MP team next season
Hopefully it will be a boost for the organisation aye
A bit late but Rest inPeace Norm Hewitt. Tough competitor and a decent bloke according to Richard Cockeril.
hopefully he boosts the moana boys work ethic and skills so tonga/samoa become more competitive in tests.
I am unequivocally convinced that he will excel, as he exemplifies relentless industriousness, having been lauded as Player of the Year and embodying a quintessential leader for numerous Pacific Islander players. There is no doubt that his presence will catalyze an enhancement of their performance standards. Additionally, it will be profoundly beneficial for him and his brother to cultivate and fortify their fraternal bond.
Yeah 100% - hopefully and MP boys who are getting other offers dangled in front of them will also be more inclined to stay and play on the same team as the world player of the year
Yep, hopefully they follow him in the preseason - his work ethic and nutrition.
As good as it will be having Savea playing in a MP jersey, unless he is also quitting the AB's, all he'll do is inspire the next generation of Samoan and Tongan players to play for NZ over Samoa or Tonga.
Good on Ardie. Respect 🫡
This move reminded me of the Tongan flanker Nili Latu. In ‘07, prior to the World Cup, Tonga and Samoa had a warmup game where Manu Samoa thumped their neighbors by over 40 points. Latu was absent that game.
Later during the World Cup, the Latu-lead Tongans beat Manu Samoa and barely lost to South Africa by 5 points.
After the World Cup, any game the Ikale Tahi were captained by Nili Latu they would beat Manu Samoa.
That’s what inspirational leaders can do. That’s what I feel Ardie will do.
I think the Canes will be okay they seem to have unearthed a new group of young players this season, while he was absent. They just faded near the end, with injuries to key players not helping, but showed a lot of promise.
This was not on my list of things to happen in 2024.
Yeah same. But I’m all for it haha
Yeah I feel you on that one
Mine neither.
There were rumours he was going to move north to Auckland a little while ago I just expected it to be the blues
LEGENDARY move
Michael Leitch is 35 and still captaining Japan. I can see Ardie playing for Samoa at 36.
"Happy wife, happy life." That's a "work on" for me. 😂😂
Lol yeah work in progress for us all mate 😂
Or grow some ballz
Normally I'd dismiss optimism that one lone player can turn a team around, but Ardie and Julian's playing together again - some magic might just happen
The canes 2 best players of the last 15 years have now left. we can’t catch a break 😭 happy for him though great move and glad it’s not the f’ing blues
We'd have welcomed him in Blues land if he decided to ;)
Imagine the Savea brothers both playing for Samoa in the next RWC 👀🔥
Great for Moana Pacifica and
the competition! Massive
Welcome to the aiga Ardie 💪 UP THE MOANA 👍
Bigger than rugby… for the culture!
Excellent move by Ardie.
His move to MP will not win them a title but his expeeience, knowledge and professionalism will be invaluable to the MP players and hopefully grow them as a team.
Also it frees up that space in the Canes for those loosies that did a marvelous this year to get the game time they need to grow and in fairness the Canes looked pretty good without his services so they will be fine.
I have already googled more about moana pasifka their stadium their heritage etc than before. I think its great and be good to have more abs in their squad.
Giving back to his Tagata and Fa’asamoa.. his People and Culture!
Juddupp lol
I'm still mad at Beauden's wife. I can totally understand how Ardie wants to give back to Samoa and play with Julian. He's going to help that team a lot, and it can only help Super Rugby overall. The Canes have some quality there anyway and someone was going to be left out when Ardie came back, so I feel like they'll be fine.
Lol what a nice life it must be when your wife decides she wants to live in a whole different city and you can just move there with no hassle cause you know the team there will take you 😂 I feel bad for Otere Black though, hadn't he moved to Auckland to avoid playing in Beaudie's shadow only for Beaudie to move to the Blues not long after 😅
If the eligibility rules changed to no stand down then I wouldn't be suprised if him and many samoans and tongans switch allegiance. The Toa Samoa and MMT movements is creating waves for Union.
@@davejordan267 the revival hehe
No loss
What a coup for Moana Pacifica. Hope it goes well.
Moana pasifika is like a team where people go to retire and a platform for up coming players to a better contract
😂😂😂😂
Almost like MLR in the US as seen with MLS 😅
Great news for Moana Pacifika and a shame for Canes. Do you know if MP have been making much progress towards a permanent home ground?
They're looking at North Harbour stadium for 2025 apparently aye
Rumor/wishful thinking: Mo’unga will be the next big signing for Moana Pasifika
😂🤞🏽
TC - I think it is great - what a wonderful player - go MP..
Welp, he's part of the 20% NZ eligibility until he goes through the 3-year stand down although this is a real coup for MP on the other hand. Even better with Moana having both Savea brothers which should help them alot next season.
Great for MP. Ardie is a great man.
Ardie has got so much Mana.
Go well mate
Heya Two Cents m8 just wondering will you be doing any preview videos for the rugby 7s at the olympics? 😉
Ah man I might do some review stuff, not sure, it'll be pretty much just reactions cos I know almost nothing about 7s 😅
@@TwoCentsRugbythat would be cool, even if you scramble something together. It looks it will be a fab tournament. Lots of teams could win it in both groups. Even if it is just a fan-view one.
@TwoCentsRugby No probs m8. Just thought you might be interested in doing some as there are some top class players from the 15s game playing in it. Such as Hugo Keenan for Ireland and I'm sure there would be a load more top class players on other teams also. 😉
About time they got a marquee player
Really much needed aye, a big name to draw some more fans in
Yeah and let’s put some respect on our Moana Pacifica brothers too but Ardie could be just what they need to start contending with other teams consistently.
I wonder if he's going to end up playing 7 for Moana Pasifika, given how good Inisi was this year, Miracle Failagi at 6 as the lineout option as well would be a pretty good back row!
Is this the biggest signing ever in Super Rugby? Maybe bigger than Lomu to the 'canes back in the day.
Woah slow down there, Lomu was and still is a bigger name in world rugby than Savea will ever be
Absolutely let's go Ardie
Did Jonah Lomu win a world cup? Could JL even tackle. Jus ask the 1995 Boks. He was a media made superstar .. Great for business, but not ABs. @evilrod5342
@@risingsun2677 You realise rugby wouldn't even be professional without Jonah Lomu. What he did in 1995 was the driver of rugby going professional. Maybe learn about the history of the game before you let that dribble come out of your mouth, you'll figure out that rugby was played before 1987.
@@risingsun2677 yeahhhh right.
After any video on the Highlanders this is brilliant news for Island Rugby right up there
top 6 contenders maybe if it was still 8 yes but 6 not with ofc the chiefs, blues, brumbies, canes taking top 4 and then reds 5 1 spot left and with highlanders, probably the waratahs, Fijian drua and maybe crusaders again so i don`t think so but they won`t be getting scored 60 point on like last season i don`t think but i do think they need more in that front pack to really start to push there becoming like the highlanders who can beat anyone on there day but then also lose to anyone if it was still top 8th then 100% but top 6 with only 2 spots to take unless one of those 4 teams drop out big time like the saders well
Nice to see a high profile player comfortable making a choice to go Heart over money :) The Canes will be alright without him and MP should gain a few more viewers thanks to Star Power.
I like the sound of this news 👌
It’s brilliant! It’s great for game
❤ MASTERSTROKE BY THE LEGEND ❤
cool az!! he's cool people person chur bro.
Big for Moana Pacifika!
I hope Ardie Savea plays #7.
Well his brother play's for them...
Hope Lakai gets a decent run for the Cane's...
Maybe big Ardie wants to go back to 7 ?
Wowwwww!
Yeah good luck with that
He's going to rip it up.
I guess this also guarantees more game time for the likes of Kirifi, Lakai and Iose at the back right?
Yeah Canes back row still stacked aye
@@TwoCentsRugby hundred percent. After his stint in Japan, I was kinda worried he’d be coming back to the Canes but they’re already stacked and canes have already started bleeding new blood. I thought someone wasn’t gonna be getting game time. Turns out the brother is moving to MP. Fair play
One might postulate that the Hurricanes' loose forward contingent will manifest as Flanders occupying the blindside flanker position, Lakai assuming the openside flanker role, and Iose anchoring the number 8 berth, until such a juncture as an emergent individual usurps this configuration. In such a scenario, it is conceivable that Gallagher might be installed in the blindside position, thereby relegating Flanders to the reserve number 20 spot. Nonetheless, this projection remains inherently speculative and subject to the vicissitudes of future contingencies.
@@scottyTHERAZORrobinson Iose is great, but against bigger, more aggressive forward packs I back the way Flanders throws his body into contact in the tight as a better asset than Iose's gas & footwork in the loose. Also, Flanders can shift for a big unit too, so you don't lose much from set piece off the back of the scrum etc.
Savie the samoan wish you well😂😂😂
all it means that he is not going to play overseas and possibly even a future pathway of future involvement in rugby..
Razors eyes captain S Barrett 24 7
Could be the downfall of the best no. 8 in history
ABs must maintain own standards and AB policies for selection. Savia is one player. ABs also should consider typical Newzealanders like we saw in the past, than having pacific islands mixed Newzealanders. Peak time of ABs were consists of White origins who are more balanced with overall talents.
Main reason he leaving….bc of how Hurricanes treated Julian Savea!
Everything else is just crap.
Dude…It’s common knowledge how upset Ardie was over Julian’s contract with Hurricanes!!
Yeah actually I had that in my notes to mention Julian (and thus Ardie) was pissed at not getting renewed but forgot to mention it!
Nonsense, Canes' just told him he was a surplus to roster requirements and he isnt needed anymore, see ya later old boy. Nothing wrong with that
At the end of the day rugby is a business
@@hellsbells24now the deal has went bust😂
Julian was lucky to even return to the Canes in the first place, been poor for years.
Good Samoan player.😂😂😂
The Hurricanes are stuffed full with quality loosies. This year showed they will be fine without Ardie. MP will get a boost. Win win.
Get use to loosing ardie
Ardie is just one player, so it's not gonna make an impact
Terrible for his city of birth.
Yeah would have been nice to see a "one club man" thing - but it's pretty rare these days. Hopefully he gives MP a boost
Seriously? 👀
Yeah seriously!
There goes his chance of winning another SR title
Nek minit Moana wins the comp 😂
Not like he was ever gonna get it the Canes either. Serual choker team.
@icefarrow7959 He won one with the canes in 2016.
What
I'm shocked too. The Savea brothers are proud to be from the capital.
Happens when Nz dont play with their own national players i guess... have like 30 % pure New Zealanders in their entire team over history.
Lol. Pure NZers? This is the dumbest argument.
@trharding is it not a fact you playing with a majority of other countries players?
Aotearoa or newzealand are nothing on their own. Fact
@@leeroyarendse5302 we've added a couple of million people to our population, from a base of 3 million, in the last 40 years largely through immigration. We're a settler state, whatever the rights and wrongs of that are, and your idea that we limit our playing pool by some weird notion of "purity" just doesn't vibe with what NZ and to be a New Zealander actually means.
Rumor/wishful thinking: Mo’unga will be the next big signing for Moana Pasifika
😂🤞🏽
