- Stimming is a very common practice used for self regulating purposes. It usually consists of repetitive motor movements and sounds. Stimming is done by both neurodivergent and neurotypical folks. Mam, My son 5 yrs old. Whenever he is excited he used to do Hand flapping with holding hands or rotating, jumping, running from one corner to other . Also he is very shy and less talkative .
Is he able to understand and speak like a 5 year old ma'am? is he able to narrate stories and past events?
Yes!! He understands whatever we say. He will reply in small sentences. He cannot tell stories but he have very good memory abt past events and also he will communicate about the past events in small sentences.

My son is 3 yrs 2 months old mam when he is more excited he is doing hand flapping and folding his fingers for just 5 seconds is it normal? Other than that he is speaking well not seeing any autistic symptoms.. kindly reply

Mam,my son do stimming with hands only if he takes 2 thing's in his hand,otherwise he will not do,i want to know why he is doing,and some are suggesting to send him drums class but i worried that if i send him to drums class it will reduce or it will increase,pls suggest mam

My grandchild baby boy nearing age 5 close his ears some songs or some songs he likes to hear but in between he doesn't like music or ornamental sound he tightly close his ears and make ummmm sound and his face become tension why madam? What we will do at that time?
It can be because of 2 reasons, 1 your grand child could be Visual learner and when 2 or more modalities are stimulated (auditory +visual) children like to focus on just one (visual), or it can also be because of Auditory hyper sensitivity. Please consult with an Occupational therapist. It will help him
