You can do small waterchanges from your main display to get some nitrates and phosphates in there for the plants.. Always wanted one if these!! Very cool
I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your videos with us. I’ve always wanted to have a saltwater aquarium but it’s so overwhelming trying to figure it all out. You keep it simple and I like that!
I love these comments! Thank you, this is what keeps me making them! As for how complicated a reef tank is, it's all about the operator so to speak. it can be super simple as long as parameters and nutrients are in check. Thank you again!
regarding the mangroves it´s completely finde to get them "without leaves" thats how a propagule looks if you have them already growing with roots and everything they are just way more fragile to transport and are more likely to die
It is actually better to plant mangroves that do not yet have leaves, because they adapt much easier. Mangroves who already have leaves and roots get transplant shock.
@@patrickscannell6370 It does happen and I’ve seen it, they may lose leaves and then bounce back. They are pretty resilient if given the proper light, conditions, and nutrients to grow.
looks great i am just starting with codium was trying to figure out how to attatch it to my rock .. what did you say the red one in the middle was called (just subbed)
You can use some superglue and glue the bottom of it to the rock. I’m also wanting to add some my macro tank, haven’t been able to find any where I’m at. Thank you!
It’s superglue gel. After doing this I recommend to just anchor the macroalgae down with the rocks than glue them on. They didn’t react well with it and withered down a lot
So.. now that you've had a few months with this deal.. does the macro in the tank help as well with phosphates and nitrates as chaeto in a sump or chamber in AIO?
Absolutely. I’ve had to start dosing phosphorus to keep it in check with the nitrate, which I get from feeding the fish I have in there. I’m overdue for an update on this tank. It’s much better now
@@SaltFishTV Awesome. I am sick and tired of Chaeto. I want to incorporate some macro in my DT. I don't have any tangs or anything that will pick on it. Any suggestions of macros with larger leaves? I am trying to stay away from macros that can easily break up and end up all over.
@@DailyDose2Inspire The red macros do tend to grow slower than chaeto or sea lettuce, but red pom pom and dragons breath are really nice ones to have in a display.
Most recent update on this tank! ruclips.net/video/Nv2ybN3gAGQ/видео.html
Update! It’s now a bowl! ruclips.net/video/0WDsMZeczNQ/видео.html
Can NEVER go wrong with Macros! :) WOuld love to see an updated Vid on how it all grew up till now!
I agree!!!!! More to come after the last tragedy 😔

You just got a new subscriber. I'm a freshwater aquascaper with no salt experience but I'm gonna make one of these now
Oh sweet! These are really easy to maintain and a lot of properties do transfer over from freshwater aquascaping.
Thats a cool little tank. Looks really good
Thanks!

I'm very tempted to do a display tank refugium but can't decide lol
I think you should! I recently turned it into a bowl, I quite like it better now ruclips.net/video/0WDsMZeczNQ/видео.html
You receive button mangroves cause it's illegal to pick them from the trees. You have to pick them off the floor and they can't have leaves on them.
I love fun facts! Thank you 😄
i want to try this so bad!
It’s always worth a try!!

These actually took and grew very very well! Check out the mangrove bowl video!
Yes but that doesnt mean they are not stressed out at first.

What kind of glue you use to attach those plants on those rocks?

Yup

Tank size ?
It’s pretty small, maybe about 5 gallons total. I’m not too sure on the dimensions as this tank broke in our move from Alaska to SC.
👊👍
Appreciate ya!!
No Filter needed?
The macroalgae do the filtering. I see it as if you add any other filter you’re taking nutrients out for the health of the macroalgae.
hello i want to ask
Is it possible to grow macro algae only on ropes on rock flakes??
Thank you I hope you read and reply to my comments
I think that should work, let me know how it works out for you🙂
@@SaltFishTV
ohh i just started trying
Will you sell some algae to me ,I m in India
That is a long trek and usually customs don’t take a liking to foreign plants.
@@SaltFishTV oh ok ok
