Enjoyable as always. I appreciate how you allowed your video to highlight the experts you called, and we all got to learn along with you. Very exciting build!
So awesome that you were able to talk with an expert first hand! It’s really going to get the process going a lot more smoothly when you have a mentor. I’m excited for this!! 🤩
Oh I will. That video is part of my beginner series which come out on Fridays (except this Friday). So check back next Friday for part two. My Tuesday videos are really just updates around my Gallery! Thanks for watching!
Super interested in this tank setup. Grew up with Fresh Water aquariums, and always wanted a Macroalgae Seahorse tank. Bouns on the mangrove element, never even thought about adding one of those! you've gained a subscriber today :)
Nice job in doing your research prior to setting the tank up. Looking forward to seeing this build come together. I’ve wanted to do a seahorse tank but that will be a project down the road 😊
Consider Kessill, especially if you are doing mangroves. As they grow they will be easy to raise especially if they are mounted from the ceiling. That is what Julian Sprung uses over his mangrove tanks and he’s been doing it for 20+ years.
Yes the Tuna Sun. It is designed for freshwater planted tanks. Think if you got two 360’s or even the older 350’s how sweet and clean that would look and you would get the Kessil shimmer. You could probably get away with two a150’s.
Nice video again...Sir if you don't mind I have one question. What will be the pvc pipe diameter for return line and drain line for 100 gallon fowler tank (bean animal plumbing).Thanx in advance..
Really good question. You usually want the drain lines to be a size bigger than the return line. Here's an example. In my new seahorse tank, I'm having to externally plumb a chiller and uv sterilizer. The chiller and sterilizer require 3/4" tubing, but the pump needed 1 1/4" for the input and 1" for the output. So I'm having to plumb all three sizes actually, which is a bit of a headache.
Hmmm...I'd get a replacement tank. I have a tank at the moment that I don't 100% trust and I sometimes lay awake at night unable to sleep because the image of it exploding keeps playing across my mind. I can't wait to upgrade it when we move in a few weeks.
OMG... I do the same! I think I'm going to try to see if it works... but I fully believe it will fail someday! That begs the question why would I do that? I think it's impatience. Only time will tell!
Great vid to see the learning process. Thanks for posting all the ins and outs, good and bad aspects. Side note, what is the brand of the sweatshirt with the green spider on it?
I raise dwarf seahorses. Macro is the key to balance. My tank feeds primarily on pods with some brine as a treat. No chiller, no gyre (although my reef has one because it needs the flow) Seahorses aren't this complicated friends. Learn about the species and provide food...done and done. 😊
Get marine depot to let you "test " out a chiller and UV. I know you are in Palm Desert which is about equivalent in temps as Phoenix but I hate having to keep temps at 72 degrees. If you ran your A/C to 76 and use fans to cool, I wonder if you can achieve 72 without a chiller. Most people around here hate chillers, they are just too noisy.
Hey Garry. MD has helped me so much already, that I'm just going to buy these ones! And yeah, we run our house at 78 in the summer, and with fans I can usually get it down to 76, so not quite good enough!
Thanks Chad. Yes, I'm lucky enough that my wife is the breadwinner and lets me do this full time! That 65 gallon tank for the Seahorses is from JBJ, and the clownfish harem tank is from Reef Octopus. Here are the links to both. www.marinedepot.com/partners/idevaffiliate.php?id=102&url=4362. www.marinedepot.com/partners/idevaffiliate.php?id=102&url=4363
That's a good question. I have not found a good lfs yet that I totally trust. I get most of my livestock from either Live Aquaria, or corals from Aqua SD or Coral Vault. Just be sure to quarantine everything for at least three weeks before putting in your display tank!
Good question, and I don't have the answer. I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I'm working with a seahorse expert and I'm pretty sure they need much bigger tanks.
Enjoyable as always. I appreciate how you allowed your video to highlight the experts you called, and we all got to learn along with you. Very exciting build!
I appreciate that! I'm excited about it too! Today I plumb the tank,so wish me luck!
Wishing you no leaks!
:-). Job done! Now just need to add water and check!

Very cool video. I did not know that about Tyler and Ben, very cool. I always enjoy talking to Tyler at the LFS when I run across him.
yeah, super great guy for helping me out! A boring video, but good content and knowledge for anybody who wants to do the same!
Luthar the man !!!!! Hope all is well brother !
Nice job, Tyler! Macroalgae FTW!
Thanks Dennis!
Agreed, you and Tyler have my favorite Macro tanks!
I am so excited for your build. I just set up a mangrove/macro tank with a tide simulation. I plan to keep Caribbean corals and flower news.
This sounds amazing! Would you mind sending me some pictures? And how did you get the tidal simulation? contact (at) myfirstfishtank.com
I too would like to know how you have a tidal simulation set up
@@MyFirstFishTank I have a thread on Reef2Reef. It was really simple.

Great video as always !!!! Can't wait to see the progression of the build!!!!
You and me both! And So excited to hear about you and Tyler going into the Macro business together! I know where I'm getting my macro from!!
Cool vid. Was hoping you continue with your rock video part 2.

Told yah to check out Ben’s Nems after watching your green name order not going so well ;)
Yeah you did! I had never heard of them until you told me!!
