    We're truly in a golden age of test equipment! It's crazy how much performance you can get at such an affordable price point (at least 'on paper performance')

      So true! A real nice bench can be built at a small fraction of the old days - even 10 years ago.

    Thanks Eddie.
    $167, that's amazing! While AWG distortion isn't on par with dedicated sine wave gens you can tell a lot by looking at the specs, also, noise floor, frequency accuracy and square waves at high frequency. I'll have to check your video on the original and see how it did.

    I would like to see those generators connected to the pico scope to see how noisy the spectrum looks.
    For the price they are really decent. A few years ago those specs were mid-range and costed a fortune.

    Nice review, just a couple of points firstly I guess the answer to the connection problem is ' it doesn't work' ? secondly I would like to see an arbitrary waveform of your design being programed into one these things, I think that would be an internet first. There are a lot of reviews on 'ARB's' nobody demo's that function and it's in the name yet its never seen ! because there are 5 quid units on ebay that will give you sine square ect.....cheers !😃

    What a great review, your editing was fine and the view of the specification was a fine detail. :-)
    I am wondering what you get in a main brand EXPENSIVE AFG, compared to, i.e. the one you reviewed today. Is it worth to give $1000 for a 20MHz vs Juntek PSG9080?

    Which one do you recommend?

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  Год назад +1

      I’d get the PSG9080 as it is packed with features. Or maybe the UnI-T if you don’t need the higher freq and paying a bit more for the small size. The 30MHz UNI-T is about the same cost but nice and compact: amzn.to/3SY7n9H.

    • @RicardoPenders

      @@KissAnalog I'm eye balling the PSG9080 for a while now, and I like the TTL connection on the backside which is very useful to have just as the modulation input what the UNI-T doesn't have, very hard choice for me to make.

    Oh, and remember this is a JUNTEK compared to the little bit crappy JUN"C"TEK ...so mind yours "C"'s ...no idea what all that is about, other the the PSG9080 has been around for 2-3 years now, and the other one just popped into existence recently. It need not have bothered, same price and quite inferior to the PSG-9080 from JUNTEK! :) BTW you ATTEN looks quite nice too, but I have view/read only a few reviews on it, all of them good.

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  Год назад

      LOL I think leaving the ‘C’ out of the name is a good idea;) I agree Steven, this PSG9080 is a no brainer. Probably could sell at a higher price given the competition’s pricing.

      @@KissAnalog The sad thing is that when it first came out it was bare over US$100, as I did not have the money then I CRIED like a baby. This unit was then way below it's worth in $, and as you say, could sell for even more than today's higher price. It is a price/value gem! :)

    Does this new model have a gate out signal for the sweep?

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  Год назад +1

      That’s a great question. It wasn’t obvious to me reading the manual if that is possible. It does syn one channel to the other, and it is programmable, so I would think this could be done. It also has the external port at the front and the sync port at the back, so I’d think it could, but I’ll have to test for that. This is a great thing for me to put on my list of things to review or check when making videos on generators.

      @poormanselectronicsbench2021 Год назад +2

      That's a good question, and something to investigate, as I think a lot of prospective buyers would like something they can generate a "bode plot" sweep when doing IF alignments on radio repair work.

      @@poormanselectronicsbench2021 I have the earlier version. That one has no gate signal. It is a real kludge to set ch2 to a ramp wave and then Ch1 to FM mod and output both to the scope
