DUI accidents piss me off the most. And she only gets 14 years for taking 2 lives while under the influence. From what I've read, she's been arrested for DUIs multiple times in the past and she even brags about drinking and driving on her socials. Fucking send her away for life bro
If she's been arrested multiple times for DUI and she's allowed to drive with no restrictions - the government helped kill these 2 people.
She should have a breathalyzer in her car that she has to use to start the engine.

Dealing with drunks either drives one crazy or teaches one acceptance. Drunks will never realize they are wrong. I can guarantee that this woman still thinks that she did nothing wrong. She thinks she was "unlucky" and the two pedestrians jumped in front of her car "out of nowhere." Trying to convince her otherwise is a big waste of time.
You should be happy in compare to France, here, when someone killed someone as a drunk driver , he could have only 3-5 years but many have nothing about prison, it's payed something. A friend of mine lost his big bro because a drunk driver go super fast without belt with drug in his blood + already arrested for some kind of thing. With a "good" lawyer he got nothing...nothing. A gym has been named for the victim, in his town because he was a good basket ball player and good educator for the young kids.
But don't worry, some courts are starting to 'get it.' In Cali, one may get charged with 1st degree murder for killing while drunk driving, if an 'act of malice' is involved.
My sister got killed by a drunk driver. She was 23.

The maximum is for hopeless cases. She is still below 25, so her brain is developing, and being in prison will give her time to understand crime and punishment. The hopeless cases are repeat offenders, intentional murderers, law dismissing sociopaths, and so on. Giving 14 years in prison is taking half of her able-bodied after-college life away. She is not given a slap on the wrist.

14 years for two people, I've seen a lot of BS come out of the courts but this is one of the worst, especially when you consider priors and her nonchalant attitude to the whole thing. She should've got AT LEAST 20. People like this need to be punished because its the only way they'll ever learn, and maybe that trickles down to other people that look at her getting a heavy sentence and deciding to not drive under the influence, thus saving lives. If that was my family who died because of that I would be livid, I would be demanding re-trials and ringing up the attorney of the state and going on TV and everything, because the fool of a judge decided taking away someone's life is only worth 7 years...

I've been a heavy alcoholic for 10 years, and in those 10 years no matter how drunk I was, I never once got behind the wheel. For exactly this reason. I never even got my license because i didn't trust myself. Being young and drunk is absolutely never an excuse to endanger someone elses life. You're not just taking a life, you're ruining the lives of everyone that loved them.
I'm sober now, and learning how to drive. I'm still extremely fearful of hurting someone when I drive......I don't know how she will live with herself.

I've been partying and passing out drunk countless times during my uni days (not a good idea, I know), but not once have I sat behind the wheel. Booking taxis and hotels is not that hard.

For those that don't know, people start blacking out at around .16 BAC and they start dying of alcohol poisoning at around .30 BAC, so not only was she definitely blacked out, she was a couple drinks away from puking up her stomach and being on death's door

those levels you brought up is when those things **start at** but it is not definitive to cause it, blackouts begin at 0.16, she looks like she's at the edge of blackout, and danger of death begins at 0.3, but people have lived in up to 0.5 too

I'm one of those people. I can drink a 1.5 liter handle of vodka or other 80 proof bottle in 5ish hours and never throw up. I've had some nights where I was as blacked out as her. Never even woke up with a hangover. I'm glad to say I never had a drunken incident that resulted in anything like killing someone and wouldn't drive like that. However, it's obviously a problem for health reasons and I rarely drink now due to my past. Knowing I don't (or do, I guess) tolerate it well kills the fun, plus it's expensive. Like X said at .08 he's tipsy as hell. At .08 I'm not feeling anything.

I don't think X or chat understands (not surprising) that her BAC is 0.264% -- this is SEVERE IMPAIRMENT. The fact that she's even conscious and not passed out pissing herself is a shock. BAC does not correlate directly to impairment, impairment is also affected by your tolerance. Considering her state, It's safe to assume she has a high tolerance to alcohol, presumably from being a regular heavy drinker. So it's not necessarily correct to assume that she is not conscious of her actions just because she has a high BAC. Perhaps she was, perhaps she was not; its impossible to tell just from her BAC.
While she is still under the influence of alchohol I don't think her demeanour matters really, what matters is that she chose to drive drunk and killed two people.

I remember a family friend in the past who is a mother of two daughters and always went absolutely nuts on too much alcohol. We even found out that she drove her car with her youngest daughter still in a booster seat high on cocaine while drunk aswell. Luckily nothing happened.

That's not what alcohol does. You can still feel emotions like remorse while drunk. In fact, alcohol tends to heighten those feelings and she felt none. Don't type things unless you know what it's like to be drunk.
