i do think from her response she sound dumb like really silly make me question what role would have played if he had a better mom. HOWEVER.
that such silly thing, u don't understand their dynamic, u don't know if she was scared for her own life even or if she was scared that her refusal might trigger into acting why she doesn't want him to have a gun.
specially since she did a lot to get people that know better and the state to intervene, i think most parent barely does a decent job at being a parent never mind being a police/therapist for ur mentally ill kid. she clearly not equipped to deal with him and at least understood that and tried for years to get experts involved and those people failed to do their part.

No, we need a better mental healthcare system. Gun laws are already super strict, especially in Indiana, but when it comes to mental health issues, it only gets flagged on NICS if you've been institutionalized for it. Usually when kids have issues, only 2 things happen: 1) it gets ignored, or In Brandon's case, ignored and reinforced. 2) they get put on mind altering drugs that end up making it worse. @TimeToGetAGoodLife

Only if you've been institutionalized for it. We need a better mental healthcare system, not even more right infringing gun laws, not that those ever work anyways (see California and chicago.) Kids with issues are always either ignored/reinforced or thrown on drugs that make their issues far worse.

I remember my step dad always taking my brother out shooting and leaving me home. One day, I got mad and called him out on it. That's when he told me, "I'm afraid you'll kill me in my sleep." I replied, "If I wanted to do that, I'd just use a knife." I think you all get the point I'm making. If your kids have a history of violence, don't give them access to weapons. People in the chat freaking out about her saying 2:41 "go ahead", those people don't realize that threatening to "off yourself" if your partner leaves you is basically the biggest sign of a mentally ab*sive relationship. So many people stay in toxic relationship because their other partner guilts them into staying with them or else they'll "off themselves". After a while, those people stop caring and leave. It's better for them to leave than to force themselves to stay in a toxic relationship fueled by your partner threatening to end their own existence if you make them unhappy.

    • @HelloKurse
      @HelloKurse 3 месяца назад

let me explain it to you from the flipside.. imagine you have kids, and you work your hardest to provide, you sacrifice everything in your life to raise these little fuckers, then outta seemingly nowhere your partner says ''I'm inhappy with YOU, and YOUR actions, so I'm gonna take OUR kids, fuck you, they will never see you again''
To the father, at this point, the kids might just very well be the only thing he is living for, in his mind, if he doesn't have his kids, he has nothing to live for.
While I do agree, that statement is USUALLY a go-to manipulation tactic, sometimes people just say exactly what is going to happen, they speak facts and others don't care to listen out of pure spite or malice, which I believe is what happened here, and the mother likely gave up caring LONG before their relationship actually split.
Is what it is. Women are wack - but hopeless & depressed man men can be deeply irrational. such is life in the modern age, welcome to the free world

She continuously brought him to the hospital and multiple psychiatric facilities. She reported her own son when he obtained a firearm. She constantly tried to things the right way, but she, the murderer, and all of the victims were failed by the system. He was constantly released and not taken seriously and was even allowed to obtain more firearms. For those of you saying she drove him to the gun store, yeah she did. I imagine she was trying her best to keep him happy and if she said no she feared that he would get worse. Some of you may say that she told her husband to kill himself but fail to realize that threatening to kill yourself over a relationship ending is extremely abusive. It was not her responsibility to put up with his bullshit. The fact he killed himself was all him not her.

I appreciate XQC's somewhat modest take on the niche communities that form over certain things, certain communities take a large focus on acceptance and not assuming bad things of others, but that unfortunately means that a lot of real psycho's like this guy come through and find attachment through that acceptance, but use it for their own twisted goals to make themselves feel better. As someone who got through a heavy period of depression myself through the acceptance and community that MLP brought about 11-12 years ago at this point, I just hope others can realize that generalizations are unhealthy and dont help anyone, its just a lazy way of thinking.

My mom would threaten suicide on a monthly to weekly basis from the age of 12 to 18. By the time I was 18, I had wrenched pill bottles from her hand, stopped her from grabbing knives. On some occasions, when I was younger and I first grabbed pills from her after threatening suicide, my mom and dad tried to play it off as a joke. I was 15 and from that day forward I never really saw them as parents. My mom was a drunk and a horrible person, so someone saying do it after them threatening suicide is much more plausible than you think when you've been desensitized to the thought of it.

He didn't shoot up a school, and he mostly killed adults. There are a ton of differences in these cases other than the fact one happened 20+ years ago. There were 2 columbine shooters, they had a manifesto, there was video of the actual shooting, it happened to children, they killers were both children unlike this dude who was a grown man etc.
The list goes on. Correlation is not causation.
There is also the fact that people like to blame violent games or music, that couldn't be done here because it was MLP. Whereas Christians used the Columbine incident to attempt to try to cancel Sabbath and Manson, again, drawing more attention to it.
And not sure how you haven't heard of this dude.. but you not hearing about something doesn't change anything. Personally I heard about this awhile ago and I don't even live in the US, so not sure where you've been.

Everyone is blaming the mom, however I don think that's the main or only reason. The entire system surrounding mental health and guns in the USA is fucked, She took him to counselors and psych doctors multiple times, had the police involved as well, the enforcers of the red flag laws took him and then released him 2 hours later, the kid himself told the doctors he was a danger to society, yet the doctors did not notify authorities to take his guns, they did nothing and by the sounds of it the mother had to really fight with the system to just get her son seen by psychologists.. The police who enforced red flag laws released him 2 hours later and gave the guns back as well, despite knowing was disturbed and was looking up mass shootings. This goes to show that laws don't work if not enforced properly, which is hard to do here since we're so pro 2nd amendment, despite the devastating loss of life carried out by these maniacs.

IDK if everyone made the right conclusion... so many people calling him a bitch ass and so on. I mean, don't get me wrong, there is almost nothing worse than killing a bunch of innocent people, and that's a horrible tragedy. But there were multiple mistakes made along the way. I won't go into whether mental illness is congenital or acquired through trauma, that's an interesting topic for another discussion, I just mean if we're stuck with what he had, people still fucked up multiple times. His mother was kinda neglectful, so that might have added to his depression, plus she fucking bought him a gun when she clearly knew he had issues and tried to stab her with a knife. The "psychiatrist" who didn't even evaluate a guy with such a backstory and more red flags than the entire USSR and just let him go, that dude should get fired and possibly sued. I guess, the point of the case is that mental illness is the scariest thing in the world. Calling the killer a bitch does not necessarily make harmless people with depression or whatever feel better. Obviously, murder is horrible, and any killer like that is/was a bad person, but I'd rather ask the question like "what made him so bad?" I don't wanna get overly cringy and say "society" or whatever, but let's be fair: people kinda helped. Not the innocent ones he murdered, but just in general. When we're talking about mental health issues, we can never know for sure what's going on inside someone's head. Like, a lot of people have issues, maybe even all of us in some capacity, but the actual psychos who went and murdered people or something like that usually got pushed by someone or something. Who knows, maybe something his mom said to him was the last straw... maybe something else. If a person has mental illness, anything could be the defining factor. Just a random "you're worthless" from a stranger might do it, let alone a friend or a relative. IDK if this essay makes sense, I'm just saying it's not a joke matter at all
