bought a used rx 570 that had been submerged in mineral oil inside a miner rig. it had a mining bios on it, and this vid worked to get it back to stock so it can be used for gaming! thanks!
thx for the updated video really helped, managed to get a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 4GB that's actually a 570 to work by doing this vbios flash. It was my last hope to get it to work considering i just got it and never got anything on the screen out of it. Without the iGpu I would have been screwd. It was showing nothing in msi afterburner or GPU-Z on memory clock and stuff.
For anyone considering doing this on the Asus variant of the 7900xtx maybe please reconsider. I am SO thankful that modern cards comes with dual bios, because after doing this i have effectively bricked the Q bios on my GPU, resulting in my pc not being able to boot unless i physically switch to the P bios on my GPU. Perhaps i did something wrong and maybe i'm a huge idiot, but i followed every step shown and this is what happened. Proceed with caution!
Thanks for posting this warning! I wouldn't have expected ASUS (or any other brand) in particular to have trouble with flashing its VBIOS, but the results don't lie. I hope find a way to recover your Q BIOS if you ever need it!
Hey, video is straightforward and easy to follow but I'm stuck in the unlockrom part, it shows "Unknown Option" like the command never existed, is there any solution or other command that i can use?
What version of the amdvbflash are you using? If it's version 5.x (for RX 5000-series and newer), I don't believe there's a command for unlocking the ROM. Thanks! I'm glad you found it easy to follow :D
I need some help I’ve been all over the internet looking for this!!! But when we plug it in, the pc does not register the gpu in the device manager. How can I get the bios flashed if it can’t be seen.
That's a good question... do you potentially have another system to test putting the card in to see if it shows up there? Or another PCIe slot on your motherboard?
Video was great. I just needed to know the commands and it could have been shortened a LOT for us who know what we're doing with CLI. I wouldn't mind a minimal video alternative, but I know these are aimed at beginners mostly. I just skipped around the video and found everything I needed, but the new version doesn't come with the GUI anymore. The new version doesn't need to unlock the bios either. It is now an "unknown" command. I skipped that step in hopes it would work, but since I was reflashing the bios I can't confirm from directly looking at the version number. I was hoping it would fix an issue with AMD FSR, but it didn't. One important step you forgot to remind everyone of was to uninstall those drivers that pose a security risk.

That sounds like the flash didn't work, unfortunately. You should try putting in another GPU (if you have one) to use for a display and either flash the old VBIOS or a different one to see if that helps.
I have RX460 but when I install the drivers through AMD website for this specific GPU, i open device manager and it shows as RX560? Will flashing original RX460 solve this issue? It messes with my ability to download compatible Radeon software and I have tried everything I could think of except this.
Also 1. if I try to rollback the RX560 to RX460 my monitor stops working and I’m back to my laptop screen (not sure if that provides some insight) 2. When I rollback to RX460 the BIOS version number shows as “unknown”
What model of RX 460 do you have? It's possible if your card has multiple VBIOS images available that you just used the wrong one. E.g. my RX 570 has 4 listed on TechPowerUp, and one of them is for a variant with a different VRAM vendor.
In theory the amdvbflash 5.0.567 version should support rx 7000 GPUs, though I don't have any on hand to test it. If that's the case then it's going to be the same commands as before.
@BitGoblin I've spend hours trying to make it work on different version and used your video, my knowledge, and chatGPT. Nothing as worked. To make things worse. Some command are slightly different/doesn't work on 5.0.567 (or maybe it's specific to 7000 cards) anyway, on a Qick 319 7800XT. And I wanted the Merc 319 BIOS for obvious reasons.
Huh, well I'm sorry to hear that. I was basing my response off of the release notes on the TechPowerUp site which says "Added support for flashing Navi 3x GPUs (Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT)", which I'm now guessing means strictly those two GPUs :/ so sorry I couldn't be much more of a help. It really kinda sucks that amdvbflash feels like an afterthought by AMD... If you figure how to get your card flashed I'd be glad to know!
I would try googling for like "sapphire rx 7600 XT VBIOS" and see if anything comes up. Sometimes they have some unverified images that they don't list in their database. Do you mean my old tutorial? It's okay, but the GUI has been deprecated and there isn't a new version that supports the 7000 series cards, so I think you're stuck with the CLI

don't forget to do the AMDVBflash under Safe Mode. It causes some driver timeouts when you do it via Normal Boot Mode.
