You know, I'm kind of reminded of how Matt lamented in his Duke Nukem playthrough that the game didn't center on the concept of Duke reminiscing on his glory days and now some B-list celebrity. And now I realize that this game is basically that concept. Frank started out high from the fame of revealing the zombie truth, but he's a washed up has-been trying to regain that glory. Idk, I just think that one of the things that make Frank (not including DR4) an interesting character to me.
Just snagged this gem for 6 bucks on PS4 with my buddy... in the first five minutes I was spraying him with mustard and throwing barrels at him asking if he ever played Donkey Kong. Such a good game. Such amazing memories.

The engine can't handle large amounts of zombies like whatever engine they used to make the DR games. RE3 showed that especially during the standoff zombie wave battle with Carlos in the hospital. Zombies just disappear and it's the only level that it does this. Also apart from the hordes of zombies on screen being bigger in RE3, they removed the falling limbs feature zombies had in RE2.
I honestly saw this as a great title. People really shit on Off The Record but it's a interesting "What-if" game, and it's pretty fun with fixes from 2. And it's better then 4, that's for sure. 3 is even better then 4, HELL, THE MOBILE VERSION OF 1 WAS BETTER THEN 4. I'd totally recommend it, not the PC version because all the DLC was pulled due to it not loading at all but it is a pretty neat game. Also, that awful game mirror your looking for? Mafia III, which deserves a Wha Happun.

I’ve played every single game since 2007 (mostly from 2011 and on) and I love most of them DR1, 2, OTR, and 3 are all really great games, Yes I like 3 as well, I think it’s a good way to end the series with (SPOILERS) finding the cure. I wish it ended there. The great story and gameplay of the original is fantastic. I can’t get enough of Frank, the story, gameplay, characters. Dr2 mostly the same but OTR is better to me. The sandbox mode and so much to it, so enjoyable I can play these games anytime!
I would love if Dead Rising 5 went back to the same time period as the 1st game, and made it take place in another location. Maybe a wintery environment at a college town or something. And also bring back the seriousness. In Dead Rising one you can make the game silly with costumes and stuff but it isn't forced. Another great idea would be to make it take place during the Vegas outbreak and bring Chuck back.
I loved the first dead rising and the dead rising 2 games. I felt the the clunkyness kinda lended itself well to the game if that makes sense. I enjoyed combo weapons when they had low durability and weren't always a better option than say a sledgehammer or broadsword. It felt balanced so that you weren't too overpowered. I felt in 3 they streamlined and "polished" so much of the movement that zombies were no longer an actual threat. Coupled with the overpowered nature of the new combo weapons and combo vehicles which were extremely overpowered the thrill and fun was kinda gone. It was just a sandbox games where you kill zombies with ease but it had no heart to it. That may be due to keiji inafune's departure or some dev stuff i am not aware of. But the things that worked so well for me in the first 2 were gone. I also think the interesting setting played a key role in what made it click as well. It also had a pretty good balance on humor and ridiculous things and some genuinely disturbing moments. Like the tiger keeper whose name escapes me i still can't watch that scene because i had a family member who was mentally challenged and it felt heartbreaking. And then there wre disturbing bosses like brandon or slappy and randy who were disturbing and had a sense of presence to them. I feel like if they removed combo weapons or nerfed them enough and had a new setting with old gameplay mechanics like time management and survivor escorts they could maybe recapture what i loved about 1 and 2. Like say a dead rising 0 set in santa cabeza. I feel like that may have potential but unfortunately i feel like 4 was a death knell for the series
Dead Rising was such a great xbox360 era franchise. Maybe it doesn’t have legs beyond that era, but I don’t care. Good memories. Capcom should be proud of their work on this.
Dead Rising one is my favorite game of all time and is the reason I got a 360 in the first place, a console in which I met two of my best friends of nearly 10 years. Dead Rising shaped a lot of entertainment I enjoy and was my first step into anything horror related. Really sucks and hurts that this series crashed and burned so much. DR4 really had the perfect chance to recapture fans and new comers to the series but failed miserably on both ends. I enjoyed OTR though for what is was though, a silly noncanon story with my favorite photojournalist. If DR were to return it'd honestly have to be either a reboot or remake of some sort. OR they could pull a DMCV and just make a 5th installment the best it can be but that I highly highly doubt will happen.
Personally, I would like to re-imagining of the first game at least. I want more Dead Rising, I was honestly super happy with the way 3 turned out; initially I hated it when they revealed A New Protag and Look, but it played nice and actually having another character join you with their own part of the story (not just a clone) was a neat touch. Fact that (Spoilers for Old Ass 360 Game) Carlito Infected 50 Kids and Sent them to Every State means would could essentially get a Dead Rising in just about Every Setting. I wouldn't mind a Globe Trotting Adventure with Frank, Chuck, and Nick going around trying to Stop Outbreaks or at the Very Least Expose Governments Corruption. That's a Nice little Set-up for 3 Player Co-op or at the Very Least 3 Different Story Modes if they wanted to Triple the Amount of Endings they Have. Hell you could honestly even pull O.G. Resident Evil and Make the Different Characters "Difficulty Modes" like Nick is Easy, Chuck Medium, Frank Hard; have them play with their Perspective Games Controls; Or just have them as Different Character models no big deal to me, I'm easy to please. If I'm being 100% Honest and Slightly Pessimistic, I think Dead Rising 5 set in Hawaii is the Closest We're Ever gonna Get to a Dead Island 2, so there's that :/ But I'm always down to play with more Dead Rising stuff as long as it's made by a Team that Actually GETS the characters, gameplay, setting and not whatever the hell Capcom Vancouver was doing saying one thing and then squeezing out fresh pile of other. But that's here is my 250 cents; Dead Rising O.G. is the Reason I even wanted a Freaking 360 in the First place; I was like a snot nosed 6th Grader who was going through a whole Romero phase, constantly watching Night if the Living Dead/Dawn of the Dead and I remember seeing Screenshots and a Whole Front Page thing about Dead Rising in like a Game Informer and I was hooked. Even if it fizzled along the way and never really captured the Originals "Special Sauce" so to speak. Course if Capcom was Hard Up for Cash they could always "Remaster" that one; Gut the Smart Screen Crap and Add a Few Fan Service Ish Cosmetic Things (Like the Wesker stuff in RE0HD)
Mostly this game is like the Resident Evil Chris and Jill scenarios, but they sold you the scenarios separately instead. I like Chuck Greene in DR2. Funny when Frank came back in DR4 he's not the same Frank people like in DR1 or 2. he's more of a unlikable jack ass in DR4, and no other characters were likable too in DR4, and gameplay felt like a diet coke version of DR3. they add in a few new features but strip out a handful that made the game decent in DR3.

If capcom went back to the roots of the first game not just in setting but in tone (can be goofy if you want but not cartoony and oozes atmosphere and drama) and also if they make it for next gen on re engine (or the new itteration) I would 1000% be down for like I think a remake would be the best course of action at this point or a reboot

i feel it to be a logical evolution of the character as fame and fortune would get to his head on top of being a veteran to outbreaks given he was there to survive the very first outbreak so he'd be more laid back and crack jokes to entertain himself as he knows he can handle such a situation as to where in the first game it was his first experience with such a thing it's much less jarring of a evolution then say leon of resident evil going from 2 to 4 leon timeskips into a action movie hero ala arnold schwarzenegger with little to no explanation while OTR shows frank gain fame and let it go to his head only to lose it frank evolves into basically mentor character except not passing the touch to a new protagonist in this instance and then dead rising 4 turns him into a cowardly buffoon but we should never talk about dead rising 4

I think a soft reboot of this franchise made by Capcom Japan has potential. I love DR2, but I've always felt the first game was the best. As far as I know, the director of the first game (he also helped on 2) still works there.

But also, I agree that West's character was ruined/misguided here. For some reason he was a wise cracking asshole, where in Dead Rising, he was rather silent and scared.
i feel it to be a logical evolution of the character as fame and fortune would get to his head on top of being a veteran to outbreaks given he was there to survive the very first outbreak so he'd be more laid back and crack jokes to entertain himself as he knows he can handle such a situation as to where in the first game it was his first experience with such a thing it's much less jarring of a evolution then say leon of resident evil going from 2 to 4 leon timeskips into a action movie hero ala arnold schwarzenegger with little to no explanation while OTR shows frank gain fame and let it go to his head only to lose it frank evolves into basically mentor character except not passing the touch to a new protagonist in this instance and then dead rising 4 turns him into a cowardly buffoon but we should never talk about dead rising 4

I bought dead rising 4 played it alittle didn’t like it gave it away. It was on game pass so I gave it another chance, what a piece of hot shit stained garbage. Enough Capcom, don’t you have enough of my fucking money.

If they were to make a new DR honestly they just need to rip off State of Decay as hard as they can. State of Decay made by the DR team in the RE engine.
I heard that dr3 was like a polished state of decay 2. I think the state of decay series is too niche to justify the costs of polishing it b/c it would cost a ton of money to polish SOD2 and i don't think that would make enough people buy it.
we can not and should not allow the bright beautiful star that was the dead rising franchise go out in the weak disgraceful whimper that was dead rising 4 while not everyone like dead rising 3 i would have been fine with them ending it there with nick helping the world become immune to the virus i always believed if they really wanted to continue the story after 3 it would be all the protagonist banning together to make zombies extinct (given that everyone can be immune to the virus thanks to nick the main advantage zombies have is there numbers and that they add to there numbers easily witch would now be mute) and the main plot being weather that was a ethical thing to do and the main badguys could be a more extreme version of C.U.R.E
I think a soft reboot of this franchise made by Capcom Japan has potential. I love DR2, but I've always felt the first game was the best. As far as I know, the director of the first game (he also helped on 2) still works there.
