The shop called to let me know my little Ford Ranger was fixed. After picking up the the truck I decided to leave the next day real early in the morning.
I like the way Bailey watches every thing you do. Then put her paw on your shoulder. That is mans best friend.
Bailey is truly quite the character. The paw on his shoulder just owns me.
after driving for 30yrs Dan, retired in 2012. I still point stuff out too my wife on peoples rigs, no headlights, no taillights, flat inside duals, over weight, loaded wrong. its endless. she thinks I'm complaining, I say, I'm trying too show you what to look out for and not hangout around them when you are driving alone! man.. i kinda miss and dont miss at the same time the 3am wake ups was so peaceful driving for the first few hours with no one on the road

Just made a trip accross the country and back with my wife and kids. I ran into so many mercer drivers. And i respect yall alot. Be safe we ran into a fella he had a beautiful burnt orange and silver kw i think. He gave us a honk. And then when my daughter waved he let out a huge horn blast. Was so awesome and something she will remember

They are the Sheetmetal boxes that a rooftop air conditioner sets on. They don’t weigh that much by themselves.
Air conditioner (curbs). The a/c unit sits on it which is mounted to the roof.
For low slope roofs, skylights & roof access hatches as well as HVAC equipment mount to same.
Worked as a contractor at Rock Island Arsenal about 45 years ago. What a hell hole.
Dan those are roof curbs.That’s what goes over the hole in the roof and then the package unit gets sat down on top of it👍👍

I drove OTR for seven years, got out and closed the door in 2001. I couldn't do it today, Cracker Jacks giving out Driver License's as prizes. The roads are loaded with maroons, four wheelers AND big trucks . . . . . maroons thinking they're in a large car. Oh boy

A easy way I tell the year difference on a peterbilt is the door handles the older 379 have the all metal chrome handles and the newer ones have a plastic and chrome combo for the handles

Currently camping. My brother in law hauled his 35ft camper with a passenger van with a 4 pin trailer light plug. No brakes then wondered why his van brakes caught fire
My uncle has been with the army for 42 years. 19 as a civilian..he just got back to the states from Korea. He lives in Iowa and works near there. Either Rock island or Arsenal island I can’t remember

Bailey is so stinkin cute... I'm a sucker for a needy, clingy, attention seeking pup like her. It's easy to tell that you're her whole world. And about these people pulling campers that don't understand anything about weight ratings or how to size a tow vehicle, that's not scary sometimes, it's scary ALL the time. Drive Safe!
Jesus Dan that dog just loves you to bits, what an affection he has for you. My mother had a Corgi (Brandy) I have never ever met a dog with so much love for people, my 2 Shepherds just look at me and go back to sleep😂.

Love early morning trucking
I hear you about too little tow vehicle and too much trailer. Too many people think they're fine to tow right up to their so-called max tow weight without taking into consideration their payload capacity, max hitch weight limit and max rear axle limit. Max tow weight is predicated on 10 percent tongue weight and virtually every travel trailer is way over that. 12 to 14 percent is more realistic, and 15 percent is not uncommon.

i remember picking up aluminum coils laid flat on pallets, from Kentucky. think i carried 3. was all you can put in a 53 ft reefer. anyway it was a delivery to a newspaper in Denver. i remember that cause that's where i lost my big lock that i used to lock my loaded trailers. it would take a blow torch to cut it off. didn't matter what i was carrying i always locked my loads.
i always thought that paying a toll was to pay off the extra cost it took to complete a road or bridge, but then i found out its to pay the upkeep of said road or bridge. going across the Washington Bridge in NYC, they are always working on it.

I’ve noticed the aggressive driving as well. A lot more cars cutting over 3 lanes at last second to exit.

I saw a You Tube video once where a guy pulled out of a space and tore the front end off another truck parked next to him(Caught on another truck's dash cam).

Looking forward to getting back on the road in a rig. Been 8 years and I do miss it. Sitting in an office isn't as nice as you think. Driving, even with bad drivers and busy roads was more relaxing to me then making deadlines and needing to get work done while being interrupted. Getting home every weekend is the plus but the best part that let's me get back out is taking my dogs with me. Big learning curve ahead for them! Be safe, maybe see you out there!
They are also roof curbs for roof hvac equipment, get installed to lift hvac units above the roofing
I've been saying I feel like there is alot more traffic now than there was before the dampemic. A few others I've talked to seem to think the same. Stay safe. Yesterday 77 south from Wytheville to NC border backed up just traffic. I went 81 to 26 and missed it. Stay safe driver and all other drivers out here.

Really been enjoying the content you've been putting out of late Dan. I believe you are an ex: Air Force veteran like I am. (Who the Hell, P.O.L.) supply/logistics squadron was my field. Your Pete 379 is so much more eye catching than your other tractor. Like you I love having a Rand McNally truckers edition laminated road atlas on hand. I'm always thumbing through it looking for new places to go & routes to get me there. Bailey is a real gentle fun dog to have along with you for company. Just wanted to say hey, safe travels & you seem to have a real good attitude for being a You Tube trucker. Safe travels. Hope to run into you somewhere sometime in my travels.
Dan, as a Sheet Metal Worker, I know the cribs well. we'd have the carpenters build leveling cribs and set the unit cribs on and drop the ducts (Supply and Return Air) through them and set the Roof Top AC Unit on top of that!
Traffic is a nightmare this year for sure. And 05 is correct, my 05 has new mirrors and handles but still has the flat window sills/arm rests
Never could figure why tarp something that's going to be outside.
Mainly to protect it from damage due to road debris, and depending on the time of year, road salt, etc.

Many times i got the question from the receiver why the h.. i bothered to tarp . And in Europe you don’t get paid extra for it. 🤔
I hate hot weather, cold is easier, cold put on enough to keep comfortable, can when hot have to stop talking clothes or get arrested, pull toy here 😄
Just a thought, The Next load you get with long sharp edges like that, you could cut some pool noodles length wise to slide on to the edges and act as a softener and they will be held by your tarp and straps. I’ve had to do that before but I guess you gotta stop somewhere to buy some first I know.

For anti-freeze mix ratio minimum 50/50 max 60/40 anti-freeze to water, any more and heat transfer suffers.

Those are called roof curbs. As you said they set under air conditioners on the roof.
First like first comment. Pipe insulation on those thin sharp edges saves tarps.
My 2008 Toyota Highlander with a V6 /270 hp is rated 5000 lbs hitch towing capacity and has an electronic brake controller . Insurance company rates it as a truck

Sounds like you had a cooling malfunction that overheated and cracked one of the pistons...they make the engine block to cheap nowadays....everything is Aluminum !!!!!
