Exmoor at its very best. What diverse countryside to walk through. Absolutely wonderful. A superb film, three crossings of an ice cold stream just for the viewers benefit and a cream tea. Thanks so much for taking me along, I really enjoyed myself
A few years ago I enjoyed a fantastic day on the scrambly ridge of Liathach in the north west highlands of Scotland. A few weeks previous the Scottish news was full of massive and seemingly devastating fires on the Torridonian hillsides. Having enjoyed a wonderful, if hard scramble up high, I came down through the blackened results of those fires. And yet it was by no means depressing. All about me was the bright and fresh greenery of regeneration. That green against the pitch black of the scorched earth was mesmerising, testimony to nature’s healing power. Your video brought those pictures back to me. Cheers Abbie.
Thanks for a fab video, loved hearing the cuckoo, babbling brooks and singing gate. The views were expansive and the flowers so bright. Your commentary is music to my ears, so lyrical.
Wow, the beauty of Exmoor is stunning! How I loved this walk with you today! And topping it off with a cream tea! Brilliant! Thank you for your inspiration, especially the connection between nature and us humans. Nature restores my soul. Thank you, Abbie. 🥰🏞🐑🐄🐦🇬🇧❤🌍
Poetic prose flows from you like water flows through streams and rivers. I certainly appreciate your narration and observations of the nature of things through which you wander.
Love your videos, Abbie, your enthusiasm is infectious. I love Exmoor, I've been visiting for over fifty years and I never tire of it. When oak apples start out their life, when they're less than 1 cm across, they really do look like miniature red and green apples. As a kid, I always wanted to pick them, but they shrivel up really fast. Watch out for those green dashed 'rights of way' - I got lost a lot in the Lakes trying to follow them, they're rarely there on the ground. :-)
I have a lot of runs like that on Dartmoor. I get back and think "i should probably make that private on ViewRanger just incase someone else tries to follow it" . Case in point last weekend when i battled up Manga hill alone in my shorts wondering if i might disappear into a waist-high, grass covered bog never to be seen again. All part of the adventure. :-) So glad to have just found your channel as i'm starting to venture to Exmoor now as well.
I have been to Exmoor, it is stunning. 🇬🇧 You had glorious weather for the walk Abbie. ☕️ In Australia we call it a Devonshire Tea.. ☕️ 32:00 ~ I really like it when you combine walk with food and drink, makes me want to join you! 🥾🥾 Look forward to your next adventure!
19:35. Worth remembering that the O.S. don't update all details like edges of forests, and other "minor" changes on their maps. Unlike buildings, which usually appear within12/ 24 months of completion. So the location of the path in relation to the edge of the wood, may be utilising a survey carried out in the 1970's. Or late 1940's. Or between the wars, or even earlier!
Just lying in bed first thing on a Monday morning on my day off and thinking I really must get up and go for a walk. Watched your video and I’m now inspired. Time to get up and go and explore!
Another great walk and video. Forest bathing (especially without water) sounds good! I see you're a "jam on first, cream on last" girl if I'm not mistaken! That's the way to do it.
That was an exhilarating hike thru hills, fields and woods. l love the little bits where you give us your thoughts and bits of history, etc. Do you keep a journal of your hikes? There is nothing more healing than nature in my view.
hi abbie great video if you carry on up the river about half mile . you will find a bridge.no more wet feet. and a footpath to toms hill. hope this helps.
Hi Abbie.....I've just jumped here from your video of the Ridgeway Walk....a wee tip or two to keep your feet dry......first is Sealskin socks....the other neoprene socks.....both will keep the feet warm and dry....ATB
I have said that many times! She would make an amazing role model and and her enthusiasm is Infectious (it got me up pen y fan in March) after watching her videos :)
No please not. With TV follows so many constraints and rules for every type of political correctness. The beauty of this channel is Abbie’s freedom to do everything the way she likes it, artistic freedom in every respect. That would be diminish dramatically with mainstream TV. Besides you can view this channel on your TV too 😀
Great video Abbie! I live in Yorkshire so get out a lot in the Dales, Peak District and Lake District. I haven't been to Exmoor but that is definitely going to change now. So cool you saw an Adder. Love your enthusiasm, your smile is contagious :-)
Lovely walk Abbie. Glad weather was nice for you. My husband and I did the Lynmouth to Watersmeet House and back on Saturday.I took lots of close up pictures of beautiful flowers I found on the way. You were my inspiration for those 😀 By the way the cream tea at Lorna Doone Inn looked delicious 😋🤤 Elena
Hey Abbie, thanks for sharing another great walk. You sacrificed the body on that creek crossing, filming yourself and then going back for the camera. I’ve had to remove shoes, socks and trousers on an occasion or two. As a snake nut I’d have gently caught the adder and examined him before releasing him. Cheers again from Arkansas. Hey, if I get to the UK in a year or two you think I could book a walk?
This is such a nice video. How come you sometimes use a Gimbal like here but not in other videos ? Like a lot of people I watch the walks on a TV so shake is quite a lot more pronounced.
Epic views, beautiful landscape, but the open moorland does not seem to offer much shelter from the wind. No wonder the Akto is so popular in the UK (and in Scandinavia, and i Japan, and and ).
Just realised my photo is of me lacing up at sparkhayse camp site before heading of I think to floras ride to stoke pero and a cream tea at some point 😁😁😁
That 'Oak Apple' is in fact a 'Marble Gall', your friend is wrong I'm afraid*. Oak Apples do look very much like apples tho'. :) (*It's a commonly made mistake)
Hi Abbie! Lovely video one again! Ive been looking into the path that was non existent at 11 minutes on the video, comparing OS Maps with Satellite Images on Google Maps (I sometimes do this as the Green Path on OS 25K Scale indicates a Public Right of Way not necessarily an actual path on the ground). From what the satellite images show there is no path in that direction over Clanna Combe although a possible faint path just to the south of it heading for the ancient stones.
love your vids cant wait to get back to uk to enjoy this. You should take a small rod with you. Not sure if you into fishing? But catch and release is great fun
Please tell us some background on the land. Does anyone own it or is it all free land for anyone to pitch a tent on? Is it National Trust or Park owned by the government? Explain it to us Americans where we can't find a single square foot that we don't have to pay for entry for just to be left alone and find some quiet. 14:00 An aeolian harp, brilliant.

wow, you left the camera on the otherside? so you waded three times across the stream? lol
Exmoor......oh be still my beating heart. You put what it’s like to fall in love wth exmoor beautifully. Wonderful video

I smile at your comments on gorse Abbie - here in New Zealand it is a noxious weed that we are constantly struggling to control :-)
Wow! The singing gate was pure magic!

Love your videos Abbie. So enthusiastic and filled with joy, summed up perfectly by your reaction to the cuckoo sound. Lol

This one was sooo good!
Have you tried the OS Maps app? You can download offline maps in 1:25 & 1:50 detail😉😎👍🏻
I miss England !
I love Exmoor too, been to the Valley Of Rocks today!
Might be my imagination Abbie but I could make out Amazing Grace from the Singing Gate
Another fantastic video well narrated are you ever planing the John Muir way Scotland

Catch and release is great fun. Not for the fish that you torture. If you wanna catch fish, either dont or eat them.
do you save routes on Viewranger?
Lovely 😎😎😎
I love this place, it's got everything, river, hills, moorland... Yes would like to see you on Dunkery beacon 👍
