    The moor land and our Canterbury plains are very similar looking the only difference is we have the Southern Alps which cuts through the South Island north to south so our vistas aren't so vast to the horizon but backdropped by our beautiful mountains. I love it that many of the small villages you visit haven't died when the wool / industry left or changed so that many of the workers lost their jobs. Our older major buildings date not before 1850's when New Zealand was colonised and many of those in Christchurch were demolished in the 2011 earthquake. My long winded point is that it is great to see buildings that have been standing for sometimes 300 years and still there being used. Thank you as always and take care =-)

I like how bundled these series: York, Exmoor, etc very very helpful. My list is growing and now I realize I will never be able to quit working albeit for PT. That's the helpful aspect of working for the NYCDOE; after you retire from teaching you can teach 2 days a week to adults at night and you have the option to work Summers. Cheers 💕from NYC!!!

    Loved the entire series, what a wonderful place, that I had honestly not known about before. You did such an excellent job of highlighting it's virtues, which are many. The villages are beyond charming and I really loved that you showed so much of the land in-between. The details as you do your walkabouts, stopping to show what's in the shops or the interesting and lovely architecture and the odd bits such as that gas pump, are part of the reason your videos are so outstanding and my favorite travel videos! Thanks so much for yet another showcase of one more of all the amazing places in the UK, a place we should all be visiting!

    Hi Simon and Will. I can’t hear the word “moors” without thinking “Don’t go near the moors lads, stick to the roads.” -American Werewolf in London 😂 I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your series in Exmoor National Park. The views, whether land, sea, sky, townships, are not only breathtaking but there’s definitely something for everyone. I knew nothing of this area and now I’ve got some great screen shots to enjoy. Exmoor has been a real visual treat. Thank you!! ❤stay well til next time!

      That is quite funny as I remember saying that as we drove the moors! A classis horror movie! I love it when they walk into the pub and everything stops and the locals look round. Had that happen a few times in a couple of places! 😂☺

    Ahhhh Sunday morning and another scenic stroll in England 🙂 were the moors always open like that or did there used to be trees that have been cleared over the centuries? Thanks for another great video. Cheers Cheryl

    • @MemorySeekers
      @MemorySeekers  Год назад +2

      A quote from Exmoor National Parks.
      Human intervention reduced the number of trees, firstly from burning to encourage open areas for hunting and from the Neolithic period onwards, woodland clearance for agriculture and construction. There was an increase in exotic tree species on Exmoor from the 19th century, including many decorative species, accompanied by species such as rhododendron that have spread invasively across the region. The 20th century then saw an increase in conifer plantations in a drive to create a strategic reserve of timber after the First World War. Most of Exmoor's woodland has been managed intensively at some point in the last one thousand years.

    • @cherylrayes8015

      Marple se filmó en varios lugares, incluidos Londres, los pueblos de Englefield en Berkshire, Chilham en Kent, Turville en Buckinghamshire y Blewbury en Oxfordshire. No estoy tan seguro de Poirot, pero puedo decirles que se filmó un episodio en Dunster que visitamos en nuestro video la semana pasada. El misterio de Cornualles.
