Your photography and commentary are great. A mix of Wainwright's descriptions with additional commentary by Bear Grylls. In the last 24 hours, I have done Great Gable, Aira Force, Helvellyn and Scales Force with you. I have no blisters and it has cost me nothing. It does permit me to enjoy the wonderful landscapes, even when physically prevented from being there myself. Many thanks...
Got home from the lakes this morning, unpacked my gear and my tent is currently draped over my bike drying out from this mornings rain. Relaxing now and watching your hike up Glaramara, I was up there myself yesterday on the only sunny day of the trip, it was a good climb and well worth it for the views. I stayed at the Chapelhouse farm campsite so I started pretty much at the same point. Nice, informative and well put together video as always Abbie. Nice one.
Slept on top of Allen Crags at the end of August, above the clouds for sunset and sunrise and it was breathtaking. I had never seen so many stars on the night , could even see the milky way .
Abbie, thank you for allowing those of us trapped at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic to virtually travel over hill, dale, and the occasional mountain with you! We just panted and sweated our way up a steep rock wall... you for real... and me on my elliptical set to high resistance! Stay Wild! Never Give Up! 💚🌻
Awesome Vid Abbie, love Seathwaite. the first time i went to the lakes was from here up sour milk and looped up onto the pike it blew my mind how beautiful it was and really planted the seed of hiking!! thanks for sharing and happy trails
Abbie i love your channel, i experience anxiety and depression. I found you by accident, and I love your videos. I have been to the lakes many times, and i'm glad to record that Haystacks is my favourite fell as well. Take care :) x
Thank you Abbie - that was wonderful. i love Seathwaite - been there a few times. The film was excellent. Never been to Glaramara or Allan Crags - Your commentary as usual was spot-on. I really enjoyed myself.
Hi Abbie.. we've just recently discovered your videos here on you tube! Loving the walks, SO INSPIRING! You have such a natural manner, it really feels like we're there with you! Thanks so much .. you're a star!
Who gave this video a thumbs down? Another great Lake District walk Abbie. I love both the Thorneythwaite Fell to Allan Crags ridge and Langstrath. Great memories came flooding back. Thank you.
Hope your foot heals quick although I see you didn’t let it stop you. I guess that’s why you have accomplished so much so young. I learn so much when I’m not lost in the beauty thanks for the upload can’t wait to see what the next one holds
Abbie fear is not a good thing to have in the outdoors it can make you do the wrong things and get you in trouble. Love your adventures my friend beautiful country Stay safe on your adventures.
Hi Abbie, This is the first time I have seen one of your videos and I thoroughly enjoyed it so I will be checking out your others. It's great when someone talks through their walk and shares their thoughts. Should you ever get back to Glaramara to give it that hug I would recommend walking right in to Comb Gill and up the far end of it to Comb Door and Comb Head from where great views of the Gill and Borrowdale can be enjoyed.
Well thanks Abbie Showing that you're having so much fun as always as I say all I feel like doing is get boots on and go are Wednesday Thursday start south downs way looking at whether will be in rain but I will stay wild lol that's as always
I'm so pleased you didn't opt for the easy option. The views are fantastic, I love the herdwick sheep . My mum and grandfather suffered reynaulds syndrome , not a big problem😁
I did Glaramara about 3 weeks ago at the end of a long ridge walking day from a wild camp above red tarn over crinkle crags, bow fell esk pike and then..... this hill never ended lol. Bus to Keswick from Seatoller. That scramble down was hard with shakey legs and a 48 l pack! Tfs
Hi. Did this walk just yesterday. I intended on going circular from Seathwaite and back down either before Seathwaite Fell or via Stockley Bridge, depending on energy levels. However, i failed... I got as far as you do at 16:41 and then realised then distance still to go, along with the fact i'd somehow not considered the ascent over Allen Crags - numpty! I basically shat my pants and did a 180, slightly worried about remaining daylight and the not knowing of what was actually left to complete before i could hit the return leg. I'm noticing a lot when i go on walks that aren't very clearly marked or appear bigger than i've managed to ascertain from the map that i lose it to fear of the unknown. It's very apparent and i don't like it. I try and have a word with myself but it doesn't help.
Hey mate, that's no fail. That's respect. You backed off because you knew in the moment it was too much. So many folks end up in trouble from pushing too hard. So well done you for taking care.
Abbie your videos are far and away the best l have come across .. love em. On a different point ... I'm a paragliding senior coach for the Dales/Lakes and your name came up today re paragliding. I don't know if it's pure coincidence or you're one and the same. Just wondered.
Hey Ed! Thanks for the comment. How come my name came up? Might be interested to see if we could shoot a film together! Perhaps you could drop me a line on my facebook page? m.facebook.com/pages/category/Producer/Abbie-Barnes-Spend-More-Time-In-The-WILD-426384884130124/
@@AbbieBarnesWILD Your name (or the name Abbie Barnes) came up during a discussion with my Chief Coach ... I was running over the names of newer pilots in my area (south Lakes/Dales) with him. As I'd been watching your videos and it just got me thinking. Sorry if you're not one and the same ... I just wondered. Re filming ... sure :) I'm also carry a (go pro copy - MJ7 Star using a monopole when flying .... BUT, you are light years above me in terms of filming and editing skills. Bits of mine can be found in my flightlogs at www.xcflight.com Yesterday was High Cup Nick (walking) ......... and it was actually a pleasant dry day!
Abbie would you consider doing a video on the places you stayed at while you were making these videos, then others know where they can stay when planning trips.
You mentioned at the start that Glaramara was a double top, which it is. But the top you went to wasn't the summit, even though it's the one with the shelter. There can't be much difference in height between the two, but the summit is the one further in by about 50-100m.
Just to clarify, on an OS map, the point with the shelter is marked as Cairns. The summit is marked with 783 black dot. They are two separate points about 50-100m apart. Funnily enough there is a third very separate high point very close to the summit. They must all be within a couple of foot of each other, in height. Then there is a whole other raised area a couple hundred meters south, marked as 775. I've seen people coming up the route you took and make exactly the same mistake. Come from the Allen Crags direction and you're much more likely to go to the summit, but all three points would be wise if you're unsure. I guess the shelter is where it is, just for the views, which are spectacular.
Is it RUclips, my screen or are you using a new camera ?? This is a very nice wee hike also, and the image is so clear, alive with deep colours. Thanks for uploading. :)
I've been think about what you said about regrets, and my view of regrets is this. you make your decisions on the facts you have before. and hopefully they are the best facts available to you, then act on these facts. whether its picking which icecream to have or stating or ending a relationship. right wrong or indifferent you base your decisions on these facts. so all I do is trust myself to have the best facts available, and accept later on that I made the best decision and move on. beating yourself up later on when different facts or feelings may come to light is something you shouldn't do, just accept your original decision by thinking like this regrets disappear, but its not to say you may have liked a different outcome to a past event in later life, but just trust that your past self made the right call
How come so knackered? You don't strike me as the sort of person to have a duvet day. Have you previously made a navigation video? Could be useful. I reckon if you took most city dwellers up on the hills without their phones, you would be looking fear and blind panic straight in the face.
