I totally understand gardening for your mental health. While I was caring for my mother in her last stages of cancer and dementia, I needed a place to decompress. My garden became my sanctuary, my church, and my fresh air, a place to find peace amidst the struggle of watching my momma decline. We intentionally build my garden outside her bedroom window, so she could see me, and I could check on her. I planted mixed Zinnias and she loved looking at the colors and her last bouquet was from my garden. My garden was my release, now it is my passion. Every year, Zinnias are planted in the front, the same way they were when momma was with us. It is like having a piece of her still with me when they bloom. 💕🌼🌸

Wonderful harvest! This year, I have had to rely on God to water and grow my garden that I managed to plant in early spring and summer between taking care of my parents who have had to move in with us and now driving back and forth to the hospital almost every day on a trip that is 45 minutes one way so that my mom can visit and care for my stepdad who has been in the hospital for three months now. My husband planted store bought tomatoes and peppers for me (first time he has ever planted anything in the garden) and we have had a blessedly rainy year for a change. I Garden for mental and emotional and physical health. I am disabled but I can hobble around my garden enough to do the bare minimum. It gives me the motivation to push through when the pain is so bad that I just want to stay in bed. I have to look after my plants and that motivates me every single day and forces me outdoors Seeing the bees buzz around the flowers and vegetables I grew from seed brings so much joy.

It is January 2023 and zero degrees outside and I'm dreaming about my garden this year and binge watching these harvest videos, I love them and all your vids, thank you for doing youtube and sharing your way of life with thousands of strangers, you've taught me so much and I'm thankful truly. Also, I love how you just harvested $30 worth of eggs, lol. I only have four chickens but I'm so grateful for them.

Becky, this probably won't mean a hill of beans, because I realize you probably won't even see this since I'm hundreds of comments in, but I just want you to know I really love you. I could say "thank you for sharing, or thank you for showing up" but because of you I've ordered grow lights and I'm working on my teeny tiny back yard to grow three beds of "garden" space...all because you have used the words "us & we & together"...I don't have a family left to belong to the growing community, and so I love you for making me feel like I belong.
And so for THOSE reasons I thank you, but mostly my heart is happy when I understand that there's a growers heart and there's just something special about that, and THAT, I think is love, like God wants us to be. Just sharing and hoping and believing that we are a community and you brought us along with you, and I'm here for it!
    XOXO thank you.

I learned something new, never knew that a tomatoe not at full maturity is called blushing. I'm not remotely close to being a gardener, it gives me great joy to watch
Becky in the garden. Her passion is heartwarming. I'm going to start telling random people I see in the store that are perusing the tomatoes, if they aren't fully ripe, I'm going to say " that tomato, is blushing ", like I am gaerdner😀😀. Becky you and that knife🙄

Hi Becky. Oh my goodness. What a beautiful harvest just from those two beds. Also don't say it's my fault when something failed because of lack of watering. Look back at your own videos and see what you've accomplished. You moved and pregnant while at it! Still you get so much from that garden because you have nature run it's course. Sometimes constantly pruning isn't always the best thing and this garden shows it. I can't wait to see more of this beautiful garden. P.S. My tomato plants are getting big on my balcony and the basil is doing amazing! No garden but still fresh products from plants in a container. 😉 Bye my friend ❤️🇳🇱

Love to see all you produce! You are one of the first people that inspired me to start my garden. This year has been rough but I just made scuppernong jam from home grown scuppernongs and we have enjoyed tons of fresh fruit from our property this year. I was so happy to find another kindred spirit who makes many many meals from scratch and works to have homegrown food for her family. I feel like many people hear what I am doing (bake all my own bread, tortillas, snacks etc, grow as much as we can, make deals with local farmers/neighbors to trade baked goods for produce etc.) and they write me off as someone who has too much time on her hands. It is refreshing to see someone who does what I am doing and more. You are encouraging!

Maybe next year when you go to harvest your coriander, you can place a tarp on the ground underneath them before you pull them up? Just an idea. Also, blossom end rot is a calcium deficiency, nut is usually due to not watering often enough. The plant can't absorb the calcium in the soil well enough because it does not have enough water to transport it up the plant. So glad that your garden has been so productive! I can't wait to get mine going for next year now that we just moved in to our first house!

I don't have a jealous bone in my body but boy, this streak in me lying so deep and dormant all my 73 years, came to the fore when I saw your jalapeno harvest. I was laughing and shouting "yes" as you found more and more. I tried to grow them when I lived in London, England but not successful. Now I live a mere hundred miles from Scotland and the weather is always cooler up here so I have not even attempted to grow them. I just love your enthusiasm and real happiness at your harvest. Can't wait for you to tackle your next garden (baby and tiredness allowing).

A good book you may want to read is titled "Weeds, Guardians of the Soil". You learn to work with the weeds. Instead of pulling them and chancing damaging the roots of the plants you want, you could chop and drop prior to seeding out. It as fertility to the soil. Or add them to a compost pile. Many have deep tap root and drawl up minerals and nutrients the other plants need.
