Used to drive the a75 4 times a week with a coach, the problem is the hgv speed limit is 40 where as in England its 50 and the A75 is rife with unmarked police cars, its a terrible road and I'm sure stenaline were for pulling out of scotland because of it then built the new terminal
Thanks for your comment, totally agree about the 40mph speed limit for HGVs. It simply needs to be upgraded. An offline high quality dual carriageway (similar to the new A6 Dungiven bypass in NI) would be best in my opinion!
I agree that that road is a nightmare. Much of it is 60mph but for wagons is 40 mph so get behind a wagon and you are stuffed until you get to a passing point which are not very regular.
@@craig.bryant I believe that it is Scottish Government who decided that. I am pretty sure that if it was UK government that there would be similar on English roads but can’t think of any and certainly not on major routes to ferry terminals that are by their very nature going to be busy with wagons.

Saw that driving back, lots of 40mph signs for HGVs. Not their fault but Scottish and/or UK Government need to sort it out ASAP!
