My husband and I are taking our two 17yo sons, our eight-year-old daughter and a six year old son to Ireland the day after Christmas this year. We don’t have anything planned other than the flight there at our hotel in Dublin for two weeks. We’re planning on taking a series of day trips. This is the best travel video!💜
@@TheWanderingIrishman thank you for your kind words. It was an amazing trip and I always try to capture as much as I can, for myself haha, but to inspire people too. Ireland is pure joy
Great video. I’m from England but spent my summer holidays in Donegal as my mum was from Derry (had to get away from the troubles). Donegal is my spiritual home.
Wow, awesome vacation, excellent video, really enjoy the interview style where you and your brother are talking about the experience. Thank you for this video, I went to Ireland last year in October for 15 days, guided tour, when I go back one day it'll be similar to your trip.
Watching all of this. It is really good. I have lived in Ireland all my life (60 years) and still have lots to see. The East Coast has less than half the rainfall of the West Coast btw
Enjoyed this video very much as I will be traveling to Ireland this fall. I love that you not only paid homage to the Rory Gallagher statue, you spoke knowledgeably about him 💚
Well done gentlemen. I laughed and cried during the vid taking in all the beauty. I’m planning our trip in two months and you’ve given me the conviction to drive!
@@retireearly7223 thank you! The hardest part about driving is that first acceleration! You will get used to it pretty quickly. Have a blast when you go and let us know how it goes 😁
Great coverage. My wife and I are booked for a mid September 10 day trip. Her family are O'toole from long Island. Dad Robert 6'3" worked for Delaware and Hudson RR in the 1940-60s. Laurence O'Toole is also a great Great. Looking to visit her roots. Thanks.
Well done lads, you captured my country beautifully. Mt Errigal is an epic climb and the views from the top are out of this world, ive done it three times at this stage. If you come back its a must. God bless🙏
Thank you, that means a lot, truly. It will always be a privilege to visit! Next go round, whenever that may be, I want to hike Errigal, and tons of other mountains. No more city slicking 🤣
@@MagellanandGreyhound it definitely came across as a special trip doing it with your brother and following in tracing the O’Toole family history, come back again soon.
from a Corkman, well done, ...btw, a guy who occasionally drinks Murphy's or Beamish but never that Dublin brew Guinness!! Also, & I strongly suggest, if ye haven't already done so, read historian Tim Pat Coogan's detailed book on the real cause of the famine ' The Famine Plot; England's role in Ireland's greatest tragedy. A book, no doubt, that will open your eyes. Sligo, btw, is pronounced 'sly-go' rather than 'slee-go' .Well done again.
Thank you! And haha we expect nothing less from a Corkman! I had several pints of Beamish in Cork, great beer too! I will put the book on my list. And haha, oh man, I knew I had to be pronouncing a bunch of stuff wrong, I really tried. I'm so glad you liked the video. Absolute labor or love. I need to come back!
I've watched a lot of American video vacations in Ireland, but this was definitely one the the best. 🧐 You might even be related to one of Ireland's most famous actors, Peter O'Toole 🥳 ... Maybe next time.
Thank you so much! This wasn’t a normal video to make for us and I’m pleased how many people are enjoying it. And yes, you never know? Time to see if I can track his tree down … 😂😂😂
Excellent video! My cousins and I are leaving for Ireland in 3 weeks (our first time). Your video was so inspiring and I am so looking forward to our trip! 10 days from Dublin and around the island and back.
@@MagellanandGreyhound Well, I am almost 70 yrs old and last October I learned thru looking into geanology that on my father's side my relatives are buried in Saint Mary's cemetery in Yonkers. My mother's side her family was buried up in Holden Massachusetts. But I don't have the funds to go. I can't walk long distances. But I did watch your entire video. I'd love to be able to attain my Ireland citizenship and residency. Last names were Fegan and Foran. I learned that one uncle helped build one of the castles in Ireland. Thanks for your reply. Have a nice day. :-)
One of the best touring trips of ireland explained all places visited with good interesting comments from Stephen in co louth ireland Ps it still raining plus sun
Thank you Stephen! Our last trip we passed through Louth after visiting Newgrange on our way to Belfast. Still raining plus sun is a great description haha
Man, what a great vid. It's amazing that yas went to kilmainham & knew the story of Grace & Joseph Plunkett too. Rarely do I see anyone go in their youtube vids or know about it.. It makes me happy to see others appreciate the place. Great job, you went to plenty of great spots, & there's plenty more to see, too!
Thank you! I’m always hopeful for a next time. I’d love to finally visit Galway for once and Connemara and more of the parks. Oh and would love to visit Northern Ireland more too. Hahaha.
Thank you boys for this vlog, im so happy you saw so much of Ireland, the lake in Wicklow know as louch Dan, is where some of the guinness family lived, its said that a young girl or woman drowned there , one of the Guinness family !!
Finally! A really good travel vlog. Excellent camera shot choices, really good narration and cutting back to you both reminiscing on your experience, and all accompanied with suitable background music at the correct level. I'm sure it was a job and a half to edit so well done, it is worth a like and a comment. Thanks again & fair play to ya! Mark, from Dublin, Ireland. PS: I'm dying for a pint now 😉
Great video. I was interested in the pub guy's view on 'everybody's' opinion on the English in Ireland. My mother was Irish, but I have an English accent. I dabble with the idea of retiring over there, but the idea of being shunned worries me. The funny thing is I haven't got a drop of English blood in me!
I can’t speak for a country but it seemed more in jest and joke than anything. They are very friendly and the last time we visited we met an English guy in a pub who was a beloved local. I think you’d be okay :)
The chances of seeing that waterfall frozen is next to non existent our winters hardly ever get that cold and if they do which happens rarely it will be inaccessable because snow is so rare only the priority routes would be clear of snow and assaranca waterfall wouldn't be at that time of year.
The horses on the island were native connemara ponies. The field is a gaelic football field though hurling can be played you only need 15 players and 5 subs its not american football where you need nearly 100 players. The players will travel across the country to their local club to play for the honor and pride of their homeplace.
Hello again :) that is great to know. I wish we could have seen a hurling or football game during our visit. The pitch on Inishturk looked like an amazing place for a game.
