What are your favourite practice tips?
Practice.
practice and practice constantly and consistently. I dedicate 40 minutes a day at least to practice. It has been worth it.
a cup of coffee XD
passion.... if you don't have it, you won't do it

Practice make progress.
Tips that worked best for me
- little and often. A little time every day beats a once a week marathon
- don't practice til you just get it right, practice til you can't get it wrong
I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago and I could not figure out how to get the video audio in my headphones. Thank you for posting this video and clearing that all up. Despite the limitations this is probably the best headphone amp I’ve ever heard. I bought the Fender one before this and lost $100. All the reviews said it sounded great. It was so bright that it didn’t fit into the mix of any of the jam tracks I was trying to learn from. This one has so much customizability in the tones that it really works great. Boss does it again. I travel a lot and this allows me to practice on the road. Practice makes progress, you know?
I have one, and I love your simple and easy explanation of its capabilities. I needed that! Thanks
Practice makes progress. I'll stick to my katana and PC but this did give me a massive nostalgia hit for 80's 90's Japanese electronics.
My wife bought me some neat headphones with the small aux jack on one side and then the normal headphone jack the other to go to the amp so when phones had an auxiliary jack you could play music from your phone and jam along in silence anytime of the day
That’s very cool! What are the headphones called?
@@TheGuitarGeek I think they're oneodio not expensive from amazon UK, I had them cranked earlier with a very fuzzy channel on my vetta 2 and they were starting to break up but I was definitely going deaf from the volume 👍
Practice makes progress......I just ordered me a Pocket GT today. Thanks for the tutorial
Practice makes progress
Practice makes progress. The Pocket GT seems more versatile. You can put any pair of headphones in them, thus getting a different sound. For example, open back headphones might work better than closed back for longer practice sessions.
If Napoleon Dynamite played guitar 👍
(Kidding man...love your channel!)
I find myself plugging my phone into the Boss Pocket Gt, bringing up a album from my streaming service and play along. Great way to develop your ear.
Practice Makes Progress. It really does. Thank you for helping us with this exciting new piece of equipment.
Practice makes Progress. Thanks for finding more ways for me to spend money.
I didn’t do anything 🤥
Exactly what I needed to know about this device - sounds perfect for practicing. Thanks for the detailed yet focused review!
Love the shirt and British humor. Subb'd!
Thanks! Welcome to the channel
Chat ended before I could tell you about the clip spot on the back. Number 14 on the manual description list. Great video, as always. Hope they give us a couple of those updates 😉
Practice makes progress... I'm getting one
This is a good lesson but I want to note how useful the vidami pedal is. Other than the effects on this unit the Vidami is a much better choice for straightforward practicing with an ordinary amp. I haven't had the need to use headphones instead but I get how that could be a gamechanger. Foot control is a no brainer and I can't understand why it is not on this unit -Vidami has that and the ability to slow down the RUclips video - it works flawlessly but it is pricey which is unfortunate.
Practice makes Better - Great Demo on Pocket GT. Just bought this and think it is a fantastic tool.
I just finished watching at least 5 other videos about this pocket GT and this video was by far the best. Plus, I needed one specific question answered which the other videos did not answer but this video did. So Thanks!!
Practice makes progress! this was by far the best tutorial overview helping me to better understand the purpose of the BOSS Pocket GT! Thanks so much.
Practice makes progress. Hope they won't take too long for the slow down function, as I use it quite often when playing to youtube videos and learning things. Tomorrow my Pocket GT shall arrive and I tell you, when I saw it the first time yesterday (yes, I'm late 😢) I thought immediately "THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR IN YEARS!!!!". Yes, yes, it was very loud in my head. Can't wait :).
Thank you for a very nice overview!
PS: My reasoning for wanting such a device (and I've been running with Vox Amplug 2 Metal) is 100% what you write in the description. I used the Amplug with cable to my Headphones, only on ear under it, then an earplug connected via bluetooth with my phone just so I could hear both, what I play and what the music is. And when you move a bit, you hit the volume of the Amplug and either hear nothing at all or you can say goodbye to your eardrums.
I like you're video. Because of it I ordered an Boss Pocket GT. I agree with you're good points you say in the video. I got 30 days to find out if this gear is perfect for me
I absolutely love this thing. It reminds me of a korg one from years ago. I used to have a boss GT-6. This will be an awesome practice piece. Practice makes progress always.
Bluetooth dongles for headphone output and guitar in is quite easy to do - and great if you already have those. Great review!
Also, pro-tip, put rubber nubbs on the backside to keep it from sliding around.
I wish it could adjust the tempo in tiny increments, like percentages. I’d definitely buy it then
The looping feature is nice, but I've already got the Fender mustang micro, and also a spark amp, so I think I'll stick with those. Practice makes progress, after all.
Thank you!!! I couldn't hear youtube through the device, but I paired like you said: Problem solved!
Practice makes progress. Thanks Andy, for this review! Very well done sir, and thank you for being candid about it's short-comings, as well as some possible "inside information" about things to come ;D. Have a great weekend!
One way I find it useful is to connect the headphone jack to my acoustic amplifier's auxiliary port, and use the Boss WL-20 L Wireless System to connect the Guitar (or in My Case My Electric Violin) to the Pocket PC. It's a Great Way to Increase Your Amp effects without buying another amp. And if you go to visit someone, you can always bring some wired earbuds with you.
This is a great application of the unit. Thank you
Practice makes progress, and this is like adding Positive Grid Spark functionality to any amp..sorta.
That shirt is amazing.
Thanks for the overview, have been looking at possibly picking one up since there are some good sale prices right now. The ability to change patches at markers is interesting but otherwise I would have preferred if they just didn’t bother with the RUclips integration. If it’s Bluetooth you can already stream audio from a RUclips video to it anyway.
And it’s more tedious to grab a link on your phone and paste it into a different app than just playing the video directly from RUclips. Generally, things that are tedious with extra steps are deterrents from just practicing. I expect within a short time of owning it, most people will just directly send audio over Bluetooth and not bother with the integration aspect. The same way someone would use a Spark or Mustang Micro with RUclips videos.
Practice does make progress. I wish my silent rig was wireless too. I feel tied in knots if I’m standing and playing. I wonder if this would Bluetooth to wireless headphones (not that I have those either, but it would be one less cable). Thanks for the tour Andy!
No need for Wireless.... just attach the Pocket GT to your strap and use a short cable to run from your guitar and then just plug your headphones in... It like have IEMS and a wireless in one. Practice makes progress.
Practice makes progress. Thanks for the review. Nice job.
Yes it does!
Practice makes progress. It does look like a great little practice device, but not sure if I'd get one as I may only use a few features. However, saying that it is more compact than my n-ux bt lite which I take to hotels along with my guitar when I'm travelling.
Awesome video.
I had trouble getting mine to control the video via the buttons on the Pocket GT. Still a work in progress but the tips on connecting via Bluetooth audio first then the Midi was extremely helpful
Practice makes progress! Well explained, I’ll probably go for this as it looks more convenient. Good idea about getting a wireless transmitter.
Practice makes progress.
If practice make progress then more practice makes progression?…maybe? Great vid, brother. Thank you.
Practice makes progress! Thanks, Andy! Helpful review.
Yes its defo betterra. Practise makes progress apparently!
Practice makes progress ... cheers.
great intro to this gadget that all guitarist/ musician needs in there pocket. Thank you. Oh and by the way "Practice makes Progress"
When I don't want to wear headphones, I run a cable out of the headphone jack to a little speaker 👍
Great tutorial. Practice makes progress.
Practice makes progress. Now to go progress
Yep! On it
Wish they would add the software to both the waza-air and the Katana air, rather than needing a new unit. Would be a great pay to upgrade the software feature!
Practice Make progress. Very helpfull vidéo
I am lookin at gettin one of these and I hope practice then really does make some progress :) Thanks for the great review of this. I think it is the best I have seen (and I watched em all, trust me ... just look at the time for cryin out loud).
You, young man, are now my favorite RUclips channel. And I've only seen you once! WELL done!
That was simply great.
I don't know if this is obvious, but can it also go straight into an amp?
Thank you.
Hi Jeffrey, thank you so much welcome to the channel. Yes you could plug this into an amp maybe will be best to go out of the headphones into the aux in if you have one.
I made it to the end. Good one Andy.
Practice makes progress. Thanks for the detailed review. I had to wait until the end to get the information I was seeking. Basically, it sounds like you can't connect wireless headphones to the Pocket GT (via Bluetooth). If yes, then that (to me) is this product's fatal flaw (and why I wouldn''t buy it). Who uses wired headphones these days? Nobody.
Hey Don! There is currently no product that allows you to connect headphones via Bluetooth. The latency inherent in Bluetooth connection make playing impossible.
You might want to look at the Boss WAZA air headphones. That will work for you
practice makes progress!
Version information for the MacOS software:
[ Ver.1.1.0 ] SEP 2021
Additional Function
Added the function to adjust the playback speed of RUclips.
Haha, very good intro! 😀
practice makes Progress, thanks for the vid
Just subscribed. I’ve seen several of your videos so when I searched for Pocket GT info and this video came up it felt like destiny. I’m a bit Autistic and am having trouble figuring this thing out. Same problem with the GT1. Here’s hoping!
I find it absurd how often I put on one of your vids and think "damn, that's a pretty guitar."
Nice review and instructions. Practice makes progress.
Thank you 🤘🎸🚀
Practice makes progress! Thanks for the great review, Andy! Extremely helpful. I'm gonna add that to my collection of gadgets...and maybe will practice more! 😊
Practice makes progress! Great walkthroughs with tons of useful advic opinions on the features!
I wonder if they're on sale right now to clear the current model out because a new wireless guitar input and simultaneous Bluetooth headphone & phone version is coming out? That'd be nice...
That’s a very interesting question
Excellent Review Andy. Now I won't need the manual when it arrives tomorrow ....lol! Still enjoying your "Punchy Blues Rock" jam with Tom at Elevated Jam Tracks. He is amazing isn't he? So yeah I think this will be fun to jam along with backing tracks .... anywhere I suppose. And "Practice does make progress".
👍🏼awesome review tx
I heard that Practice makes progress. I should probably do that. Fun and informative as always!
Cheers Andy!
I think this is a great product. And if it would be wireless, it would mostly kill the market for Waza Air.
I need one! ....practice makes perfect ;)
Practice makes progress - Good Vid ...
Practice makes progress,it seems like a nice amp but put it on the back burner for now.
Good plan Terry.
Great video explaining the features for the pocket GT thanks, is anyone having difficulty uploading RUclips videos ? I uploaded a few when if first got mine but it isn’t accepting url links anymore, any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Cheers
So if I want to take the output from this thing into a guitar amp, won't I need a re-amp device to change the impedance? Very entertaining video, BTW, well done.
Practice makes Progress. Great video as always. How is the latency when watching RUclips over Bluetooth? Do the visuals match the audio or is it like watching a dubbed Japanese film?
Super so SUBSCRIBED 👍 Practice makes Progress 🤓
oh and : practice makes progress
Practice makes progress unfortunately I can't get behind anything that relies on a phone to use it
Practice makes progress! So I've heard, anyway...hopefully my newly acquired Pocket GT will "make it so."
I bought the Positive Grid Spark amp for the same reason...but found that I haven't really used it, because I would have to plug it in (I had it on my coffee table in the middle of the room, so it wasn't convenient to leave it plugged in all the time.) The sounds were generally great...but the amp is bass heavy, so every preset needed to be tweaked. (It also came with the ungrounded power lead, which didn't help me bond with it, due to the incessant buzz!)
Anyway, I'm hoping the pint sized Pocket GT will give me the means and the incentive to play more. You didn't mention the price which, judging by certain forum comments, is regarded as a bit high for a plastic box with the sounds from a previous Boss product...however, courtesy of those nice people at Andertons and their January sale, I picked mine up for a somewhat more reasonable £149.
Thanks for a great demo...the part about how to connect with Bluetooth was particularly helpful, as it's apparently been an issue for many.
Happy new year!
Did you end up enjoying the Pocket GT? Thinking about getting one, they seem very cool.
@@psych336 yes, it's a handy tool and makes practising easy, due to it's convenient size and versatility. The function where you can set markers on a RUclips video to change your tone at certain points is clever and fun. The tones aren't the best I've ever heard but they're certainly usable...and it's a lot cheaper than most modelers!. (I would recommend getting a music stand and putting the Pocket GT and your phone/tablet on there, when you're using it.) Definitely worth trying. 😎👍
Practice makes progress. But only if you practice correctly.
Can this be used live?
Like with that BOSS wireless footwear and footswitch unit?
If so that's really a BOSS GT-1
I bought this 2 weeks ago and youre right it sounds wicked BUT I see NO way of integrating into my DAW.... anyone...? cheers!
Why the comments about no slowdown feature when RUclips has a slow down feature in the settings menu anyway🤷♂️
What am I missing?🤔
Practice Makes Progress.
Practice Makes Progress...
@TheGuitarGeek I'm a little late to the party, but I'm learning how to use my pocket GT and your video was a big help. Now, I'm hoping there's a place to download and share the patches that people have likely saved into their pocket GTs? The preloaded "live sets" seem like a good start, but not what I had hoped for as far as a community of users sharing tones. Thanks.
I heard something is in the pipeline
@@TheGuitarGeekI've been having a hard time with copyrighted material/content on RUclips. Do you have any work arounds or 3rd party websites like RUclips that also work with the pocket GT? Maybe my focus should be on backing tracks? Thanks.
Practice makes progress. Thanks for the video.
Can you learn from MP3's on this thing? Some of us may have songs in our collection that are not on RUclips.
Sorry, I missed the rest of the vlog, I had a sudden desire to practice...
This sounds like an awful lot of extra money and extra process steps compared to my current solution of just plugging the headphone output from my tablet into the aux input of my practice amp. I realise as an absolute beginner I might not be the target market for this but I was told to minimise the amount of barriers between just picking up the guitar and being able to start practicing and this seems like a lot more faff than just switching on my amp and cueing up a youtube video.
FYI, the transport button is useless as most of youtube video won’t upload to BTS app due to the copyright issue. It will say ‘the video is unavailable’
Practice makes progress. Andy I've come to trust your videos just as much as your friend in crime Ryan Burke's channel. I love the bantering back and forth. I digress though, getting back to my comment for a very interesting video and my question. One thing I was not clear on, I see how you captured a RUclips video. But does it work the same way from say like Fender Play or Guitar Tricks Website tutorials, not there RUclips channels. I can't determine if it works the same way or not, and no one here has commented on it, that I've seen?
Nice vídeo. I have fuckin' subscrived!
Practice makes great thrash metal! 😜
Cheers from Portugal 🤘🍺🇵🇹
Practis makes progres
What pickups are in your strat copy It sounds so good! Great vids mate.
Practice makes progress, is there anywhere to see what the numbers on the GT are .is it written down anywhere without loading my Bluetooth.
Practice makes progress. Thanks for this guide video. I had not heard to the Pocket GT - now I want one. I’m using your link, hope you get a titch of $ from it.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy it!
Leaving out some futures, like presets, quality sound etc etc, the only feature, for me most important was the connection with RUclips. Well, the great fake!!!!! Most videos are copyrighted, so RUclips is useless, don't tell me stories...There are many stuff around the world, in this case the future most important was use RUclips with the add of the Boss Pocket GT's app.
So I've bought a Fender Mustang Micro, really light, really practice, with great sounds and very comfortable to use, great with RUclips.
Now Boss Pocket GT is white....for dust....
The Micro is superb however the Pocket GT does work as it is supposed to.
Does anyone know if the pocket GT has the ability to adjust the speed of the RUclips video?
Would be nice to add control to slow down the track without changing pitch.
Do the videos you stream have to be from RUclips? I am subscribed to Truefire/Jamplay and would like to stream those to practice with. Is that possible?
👍
