@be happy _Can you not please?_ Put your memes to rest.
I feel like scheduling this one was much more of a pain, since you need to drag your film crew to every meeting throughout the day instead of having one neat shoot
Big brains
Before this video: Linus why do you hire so many people, you just make youtube videos
After this video: Linus I think you should hire like a few more people
Sad thing is how much ever people you hire there is still parts of the procedure that will still be bottlenecked by something you can’t solve by throwing money or people at it . Either Linus or James have to review and approve the idea for a video , knowing what will and won’t work as a video for the channel is extremely difficult and even Linus who has probably got the inner workings of the algorithm as much to a T as possible still has to take risks that could backfire. Iterating and Polishing the scripts and the presentation to ensure the video is concise, to the point and simple so as to ensure audience interest all the while ensuring regular and consistent videos is hard and not a lot of people can hit that mark for a long period of time with all their videos . That’s why even with a big crew Linus still has to go through every idea, draft, rough cut, etc because he is one of the few creators who know the inns and outs of RUclips.
joke aside, more people doesn't always mean better. More people creates more complicated coordination, congested workflow, and conflicted resource allocation (number of equipment, office space, shooting sets,etc..) and scaling the crew appropriately means big increase of cost that doesn't worth the benefit it brings
Linus should hire more linus
Only if Linus could duplicate himself
I don't think there's any true bottleneck in this process except script review. More writers can work on more projects at once which means it can take more time without bad things happening. People can shift duties around so that there's a pre-reviewer before Linus and James - someone like Ed or something who has a great grasp of how an LTT video should be.
It didn't seem to be a problem but editing could be done by multiple people per video if there was a bottleneck there, you could have two/three people edit and have one master editor who can finish up an edit and make it cohesive and match the LTT style.
Adding more layers and importantly more people to a process means more coordination is required, but then you can indeed throw money/people at that problem too - that's what managers and supervisors are for.
It's so humanising to see Linus freak out on the job. He mostly looks like he has it relatively together. And it's kinda spirit lifting to know that even in something like a dream job on RUclips has all the same anxiety inducing messes we all have to deal with in "normal" jobs.
same anxiety but paid better
The amount of stuff riding on Linus' shoulders as the CEO of LMG is monumental to say the least. I admire him and the whole crew.
Like 699 Noice
what is the program you are using for planning?
Seeing someone breakdown is very spirit lifting, yes!
Viewers: Linus probably has a cushy job, showing up for a few hours a week to shoot videos and joke around.
*Linus: *on the verge of mental collapse 24/7**
That's the problem with being the president, owner, CEO AND talent the whole endeavour is based on.
Just shows why the back end of a company is just as important if not more so than the front end.
Yah; I don't get why people think this is easy. If it was just a random once in a while review, sure... but if there is enough production value, a script and a regular schedule, then of course it'd be hard.
Honestly I would resign all those positions save for the on-camera stuff. Granted, I imagine the reason he doesn’t want to do that is because he doesn’t trust anyone to run this as well as he does.
kind of glad that James is there to keep everything in track
James is the MVP

My takeaway: whatever you pay James, he deserves a good raise.
he probably made a LOT of money.
He must be making $1M a year at least. Even TommyInnit, a 17 yo minecraft youtuber makes $1M+ a year.
If he makes $1m a year then why would he need a 5k Intel home thingy to get the sound thingy he wanted. He’d already have it. You can’t compare one member of the LTT team to a single RUclipsr, it would be more accurate to compare the LTT channel as a whole to the other RUclipsr channel.
My takeaway is that he is banned on Twitter.
@@everyone503 With a company like this, there's a lot more overhead, especially in the tech space, where a lot more materials are needed. My guess would be that most of the management is making low six figures, and the staff is making higher five figures.
Gaming RUclips has a much lower barrier to entry, it's just much more saturated as a result.

And the fact LMG itself has gained more employees than losing them shows they do enjoy working with him. Even in this high-stress environment they stay commited.
Y'all are right but this still feels like slavery with extra steps lol. They are definitely not going to get old in good health... Bless them for sacrificing so much for us!!
@@daftbence While a video like this is great for seeing what goes on, it gives the impression that there's a lot of stress when in fact, it's just a collection of the most stressful parts. The only people who were actually stressed in the video *at all* were Linus and James with Linus being the only one that genuinely seemed stressed and under pressure a lot of the time. Everyone else was chilled and not only that, you could see that they felt comfortable to say 'no' for example with Sarah saying no to filming the next day. The team aren't heroes sacrificing anything for us, they're skilled employees that appear to feel happy and valued in their work place and with a management team that tries to use scheduling to reduce the stress of everyone involved.
Jeeeze, hat's off guys to the amount of quantity (and keeping top quality) videos you pump out each and every week. 🤯 👏
This is not sustainable. He needs to find a balance. By pushing ppl hard everyday to achieve their video quantity target, he is making himself as well as them go through a process called "burn out".
After going through such a work pressure, ppl would just quit and go work for a company where they are not so stressed out. 🤷🏻♂️
Mental health is very important.

@@marshallmathers2146 They are basically making a TV show like and amount of content. The reality for this type of business is working like this. There is not much alternative.
You also have to remember though that not all of their content is the same with i'm betting the other none linus shows going smoother. Plot twist: This is just their way of getting one of those 7 needed videos so Linus can have a week off.
Suddenly everything makes sense
Linus is able to put enthusiasm in his voice even after so much stress and work for us guys is legendary, Damn James you are the superman of management
Yah, and I don't think Linus' enthusiasm is purely just an act. I think he is, in fact, that hyped about tech all the time.
Most people that create a company tend to be able to push out a smile even during despair. A lot of people that I know, that are CEOs of their respective companies don't see profit until after perhaps... two-three years. And then they spend perhaps 70h a week on managing the company. So, running a company is a hell of a lot of work for small/medium companies. Bigger companies, aka a lot of employees and a bit of surplus profit? Those CEOs can essentially lean back and relax. Because they just assign others, VD etc. to do the work for them. But not a lot of people... reach that level of Profit. Unless they are essentially part of a elite group of companies. *Cough* Google, Microsoft, Apple to mention a few.
And Ed! dont forget Ed
I'd be barking and biting people at this stage.
I gotta say, i’m impressed with Linus’ ability to ‘shed the stress’ the moment the camera is on him and seem genuinely into whatever he is working on.
This. It doesnt show when he is on camera. What a guy!
@@UnEqualPerspectivePodcast Or maybe he deserves millions of dollars because he's able to do not only that but many other things.
@UCYaIcmganV4jmU6ChxBv7-g yes, the millions of dollars he’s earned from being able to appear genuine. Remove Linus at any point in the channel’s history and it most likely would not be where it’s at now. In many ways, the success of the entire company is on his shoulders.

This was stressful to watch. Can't imagine what Linus goes through. Thank you James.
In order to make their schedules easier, they decided to make this video as a replacement video for some ongoing project
GENIUS!
I'm sure this video was still a massive undertaking for all the teams as well, even though it's a behind the scenes video
and the WHOLE video can be considered sponsorship promotion. They're probably getting a hefty sum for this video from monday.com
@@ophast2128 it is a big project to work on, however this is a small feet for Linus because Linus has soo many editors, but they won't have many writers or sets where Linus has to personally intervene, I think this video is a free realm of James and the editors to make it happen,
Besides the editors already have the footage of it which was the major hassle depicted on video
Beyond the scheduling and setup stuff, the thing I'm most impressed by is the fact that Linus can be "On" for all of the videos involving him. You can tell he's stressed out beyond all belief, but somehow he still manages to keep a chipper, enthusiastic face for all of his videos so you'd never know it just by watching them. Golf clap, gold star, laurels and confetti to the man.
I’m sure for him it’s like using your “announcer voice” over the PA or responding to official phone calls. It’s a “mode” many people learn to turn on and off, regardless of how their day is going. I just hope Linus doesn’t get totally burnt out from all of this.

From someone who also works in production, and has experience with scheduling problems all the time, the real secret sauce to LMG is company morale. The fact that Alex volunteered as tribute for WAN show speaks volumes to the quality of teammates and leadership LMG has.
Well done, TV Networks can learn a thing or two from your example.
i think one thing that i can see at least from what LTT is trying to portray themselves is that they bond together by being buds and not exploiting the fact that they're bud (as much). So when shit hits the fan it feels like you're doing a solid for your bro rather than being the disposable guy that get thrown off when the boss is burnt up.
a lot of organisation that have somewhat similar bonding/passion abuse it and make people cynical about the whole thing

Honestly, it looks, like there is still far too much work pinned only on Linus. Issue is he is CEO, so a lot of details must be run trough him, so being the face of LMS doesn't make this any easier.
He said that it is exhausting that he needs to be in front of the camera almost every other video, but i didn’t know that he goes through every single script with writers. Even if a video doesnt contain linus shoots, he is too involved by checking facts, confirming scripts structure. His input for merch is another thing we dont see often. coom?
This has to be my favorite LTT video. So much respect for what you guys do. I'm not a creative type and couldn't possibly do it.
With the current controversy, this vid is shown in a different light.....
This entire video was a gigantic bucket of anxiety and stress.
My god yes, got a headache just watching.
The office: LTT edition
jokes aside this is incredible
I would watch that!
I would love to see more videos like this, getting a look behind the scenes is always super interesting
sounds like a crazy schedule. Awesme work though getting all the videos out. I love watching them!
*"Linus is not in on Monday, he spends in on his kids"*
What a good father
given how packed his schedule, he probably deserved that
Didn't know that doing what fathers are supposed to do makes them good fathers.
He's fortunate enough to be able to afford it though.
@@Ati27 my dad never spent time w me even tho he wasn't as busy so yeah he is a good father
@@Ati27 Uh, yes, that's not exclusive to fathers, though. If you're doing what you're expected to do then you are doing a good job. Don't make it seem like a gotcha.
Mine didn’t come home Any days
LMG: “We’re not gonna hit 7 videos this week. How about we do a video about it?”
Also Linus’ brain: “I love being needed for everything”
The fact that Linus shows up to WAN show all jolly and cheery after running around like a chicken with his head cutoff for 11 hours is awe inspiring.
This is the kind of content I am HERE for. I love the industry inside videos. Please post them more!
I feel like this version of the office might be fun to watch as well.
LOL
Oh dear God PLEASE!!!!
UPVote this shit ALL DAY. What major production company can we tag? Community go!
This was THE best LTT video I have ever watched. Seeing the mechanics behind LMG is incredibly interesting, as well as seeing how much hinges on Linus.....this being said, the fact it all hinges on Linus made me worry a bit. Are there contingencies if Linus breaks his ankle and can't do a thing??
It's been less Linus-centric in the past, back when he was talking about retiring from the camera. They just have other staff host the same videos.
I think they know, that's was one of the reason why experiment with deep fake in their previous LTT. I also think that's the more reason to give more hosts air time so the audience can start to get attached to another personality as well as Linus.
@@aysils I seriously don't think the world is ready to watch a video with Linus deep faked in it. And they're probably aware of that as well.
Personally I'd feel like they'd be trying to fool me if they ever did that. Frankly, I'd much rather watch any of the other hosts, all of them are good at what they do.
Well we have Anthony still
@@kbaacca yeah a learn Linux with Anthony series! Exactly his thing!
This is so impressive, you guys do so much!!Thank you all for all the hard work and content:)
Great job to all of the LTT staff! Yall are doing a fantastic job and thank you for everything you do!!!
This was the largest sponsor segue I've ever heard.
Lol
"7 LTT's, a wan show, clips from the previous weeks wan show, 3 techlinkeds, 3 shortcircuits, 2 techquikies, and a carpool critics."
And a mac address.
Damn the Video is out of date, we need a part 2 already 😂🙏
@@JustinJamesJeep this already is part 2, there was a very similar one a while ago. Also what I don't get: How are there 7 LTT videos PLUS WAN show? I always thought it is 6+WAN and no LTT video on Fridays?
@@RandomUser2401 AFAIK it's 6+WAN unless it's a sponsored video, then sometimes they do 7+WAN
This was before that even existed
Didn't know anime girls watched LTT. The more ya know
I just love content like this. There is always hard work behind every video, and this way we get to see and appreciate it!
This is a fantastic video. Kudos to Linus and James and the rest of the team for putting this out there for us to see. Very few RUclipsrs can work at this level of detail and still Churn out excellent videos. Kudos guys.
Okay this is legitimately a cool video. Big delve into the reality of a company like this. Love it!
@be happy what the heck?

1. My level of appreciation rises with each video, but this one really got me
2. Each person is so stressed, but if it can be easier, I think Linus could just let someone hosts entire episodes! I know he is the face of this company, but we love everyone in LMG equally
WAN Show in particular is better with a variety of hosts, and seeing this video it's obvious why Linus seems burned out half the time.
See, the thing is Linus likes the wan show and sees it as time off almost that he can spend with a friend on twitch while still working.
But the rest is kinda problematic
Remember a few months ago where he said he wanted to turn it down a notch? Seems like he did the complete opposite
@@dycedargselderbrother5353 Nah I gotta have my Linus and Luke time every week
@@cyprian4869 My impression is he does deal with less of the business side stuff since then, like he doesn't handle hiring at all. But yeah, they could probably have someone else do the script review, and review the merch and stuff. And have other hosts for LTT.
Sarah is such a ray of sunshine, I just love every single video she does with Linus, she just brings something special to the whole feel of the video.
I have watched this video severally, i truly love your workfloor and the division of labour. I also love how Linus interacts freely with his employees, this is how employers should relate with the people who support them achieve what they aspire. You people are my true motivation in the journey i have started on RUclips. Thanks!
I don't normally comment I just sit back and enjoy,
But this, this was really good,
I enjoyed everything about it
❤
It's a tough management decision- Linus is the brand, but he's also one person.
Yeah tbh, after his "possible retirement" video almost 1.5 years back (?) I was genuinely shocked how deep he still is involved in the creation of almost every video. Especially the script review thing seems like it really isnt necessary for Linus to be there, but that's just me. Frankly, while LTT has many other big faces now, he still is the brand as much as he was a few years back...
@@OTNaugrim I'm sure he has a deep emotional attachment to the company and it is his name in the company and the largest channel.
this is my favourite LTT video for some reason. I recently started on my first job, and we use Monday, and even though I watched this video when it first came up, I still watch this once in a while, and it just somehow makes me feel okay no matter how my life's going.
this was really an enjoyable video! seeing the behind the scenes of what seems to be the most effective team in the world was kinda funny and awesome and i really appreciate the videos you all guys make, that is why i subscribed to all the channels, great content,. the bar isn't set low at all
