@Sciurus Niger laughs in .1 of a meter beeing 1 decimeter .01 of a meter beeing 1 centimeter .001 of a meter geeing a millimeter. Everyone who uses metric knows what .1 of a meter is. And .8 of an foot beeing 9.6 of a inch is the funniest stuff to me.
Had that same setup. Was amazing. Once you calibrate the high brightness dynamic mode, expect a 15-20% decrease in peak brightness. Well worth the calibration though
not like it's hard in imperial either. .8 foot is slightly over 9 and a half inch or, since it's a minimum, just aim for 10 but it is an extra dose of stupid that a lot of engineering is done against convention by dividing things decimally, which confuses end users because all their rulers are marked with idiotic fractions like "1/8th inch" or "1/16 inch"
@@TheZALGOisCOMING I dont know the imperial rulers, but metric rulers are usually marked 1 (enter specified unit, f.E. cm) 2 (specifiied unit) and then has 9 markings in between those two at equal distance to each other to give 0,1 ; 0,2; 0,3 ; and so on
In the US I feel it's not as big of a deal because we end up having to assemble stuff in both metric and imperial all the time, especially length measurement of household goods and things like screws, bolts, etc. So we have inches rulers with a metric side, metric tools, imperial tools laying around, but if you get something marketed to the US sent to another country that doesn't use imperial, the chances of you having those tools in imperial measurement is a lot lower I imagine.
Ironically the USA is actually based on metric system but they take those standard metric weights and measurements and convert them to feet and inches, fluid ounces, pounds and ounces still lol You will take MPH from my cold dead hands though!!!!
@@TheZALGOisCOMING if you were asking 0.8 of a meter, is simply 80 cm. There, simple. You can convert, calculate etc accurately in imperial, but that doesn't Negate the fact that metric is way easier and simpler to use
I use decimal feet and decimal inches fairly regularly. A lot of engineers use it fairly regularly too. Don't get why this is such a foreign concept to people.
pro tips, if the t bar ceiling is a bit below the wall hieght you can make damage up there and see where the studs are if you need it, or since they usually dont finish above the t bar you can even look for drywall seams and screws, second pro tip, you can get retroreflectors that make it a lot easier to see lasers

One of the good thing about being Canadian. Is having a good understanding of the Imperial and metric system. So just choose whichever measurement is more convenient. Lol
We use imperial because the Americans do. It is never convenient, because it makes no god damn sense. At least metric is unified and in base ten... I still cannot make sense of much of the Imperial units, and I have no idea why Americans even tolerated units from an Empire... you'd think they would ditch that together with all the other British things due to the revolution - that's why they went to coffee over tea, and if they could ditch tea even partially then why couldn't they ditch Imperial so the rest of the world no longer has to deal with that ancient arcane outdated BS? Can we at least ditch the Fahrenheit, guys? It makes no sense at all and is hard to convert accurately. Why does so much shit come in F and not C?!

So Sony has various monitor classifications: broadcast, master, reference. I think reference is their highest accuracy monitor. But basically any "reference" means it's as true as it gets, and everything else is below that. So for color grading, you need a reference, something to base everything else on. Same for sound, etc. Even with weights and measures there are (or used to be) physical items that defined a length or weight and those were the "references." So that's a high quality screen!
Yes, but, in the case of projectors and projector screens, the room and ambient light can compromise the image regardless of the screen you use. So, in a room and lighting like the one in this video, having a "reference" screen means very little.
@@IanZainea1990 Yes, they would need a room entirely covered in black velvet or some other very dark material. But, it's still an excellent projector with an excellent screen.
2 parts video idea : 1 - Linus contracts a pentesting company to test his home or the home of an employee, ideally one that has lots of iot devices. 2 - LTT tries to replace and configure the vulnerable equipment to maintain the same level of features safely.
Speaking from experience, the piece of wood above the ceiling tiles is a bad idea. Over time the heat and cold it will be exposed to will cause the wood to warp and eventually the projector will be crooked. Should have used all that expensive shop equipment to make a metal bracket instead.
I have a epson 5040ube it has a wireless transmitter and the quality is amazing ,I use is for movies , gaming and watching my favorite content creators on RUclips just make sure you have the ac on they are like space heaters enjoy it and thank you for the great content.
To answer the question of "how do you measure .8 of a foot" 12x.8 (which gives you 9.6) And then if you wanted metric, 11x12 (which equals 132), then add 10 inches (rounded up from 9.6), giving you 142. Then multiply that by 2.54 giving you approx. 356cm or 3.56m (I know I could've converted to meters but I'm more comfortable using centimeters)
A stud finder shows you the outer edges of the stud NOT the center, mark both edges then drill in the middle of the finder marks. The finder senses where there is a solid behind the drywall and it is up to you to find the center of the solid by using the finder correctly.
@@avenged110 The imperial system is just a freaking mess. What it feels like to the rest of the world: "Let's calculate everything in chicken length. You ain't having enough chicken? I love projectors. Home theater is such a class above a big TV. No projector needs to mount in the center of the screen though. They all have a built in lens drop (not talking adjustable lens shift) for a reason.
I used to do this kind of thing for a living and I was impressed slightly they used the proper anchors.. less so with the 2X10. this is usually done with unistrut products and some allthread when doing a truss mount.. if they had busted that out I would have fallen out of my chair. overall I think they did a good job. the most annoying thing about projectors is you have to size them to the room FIRST then you can narrow it down to the coolest brightest best bang for your buck what have you projectors that work in that space. if its not a dedicated theater space you also need to factor in whatever window coverings need AND how to install them for zero light bleed.. automation for the screen and windows that you had someone custom make for a ton of money.. hoping the customer will realize that the prjector will not last beyond 3 years heavy use even maintained properly... present a quote and watch eyeballs pop... but its freaking magic if everything is done properly. in a residential setting this will require the use of a carpenter a drywaller a painter and usually an electrician. if you are super juiced instead of painting you get someone to upholster the walls.. and those people do not work cheap. not to mention the guy doing the design and the people he employs for the prewire.. then you have to do site surveys all the time to make SURE everything is going where its supposed to and nobody is fudging 6 inches here 3 inches there.. holy crap we are 50K in and we haven't bought any equipment yet :) and its a month behind schedule. I did like they make a big deal about the screen. its as important as the projector and more so if you are contending with other light sources. havent done one of these in ten years I am glad to see the lens-shifting projectors are more mainstream now.
11.8 feet = 3.6 meters, glad to see that the engineers use proper units. I would love it if thee clips would show both units on screen every time they talk about one
🪚 To mount a big screen to drywall room, 3/4" plywood sheet (whatever size) will help distribute the load and you can paint it the same color as the wall. Now you can screw directly into it. 🔨

"How do you measure .8 of a foot?"
And that's why the world is metric.
not like it's hard in imperial either. .8 foot is slightly over 9 and a half inch or, since it's a minimum, just aim for 10
but it is an extra dose of stupid that a lot of engineering is done against convention by dividing things decimally, which confuses end users because all their rulers are marked with idiotic fractions like "1/8th inch" or "1/16 inch"

@@FakeChannel4 when he said ".8 feet? How do you measure .8 of a foot?". In the metric system, that would be easy, e.g. 3.59 m = 3 m and 59 cm

pro tips, if the t bar ceiling is a bit below the wall hieght you can make damage up there and see where the studs are if you need it, or since they usually dont finish above the t bar you can even look for drywall seams and screws, second pro tip, you can get retroreflectors that make it a lot easier to see lasers

First time I've tested a product before Linus... This drywall anchor is very good!

That's what she said.
@@tiagojordao4105 true. I suppose you need a reference everything, for it to be a true reference.
@@IanZainea1990 Yes, they would need a room entirely covered in black velvet or some other very dark material. But, it's still an excellent projector with an excellent screen.

tbh i would watch this
Speaking from experience, the piece of wood above the ceiling tiles is a bad idea. Over time the heat and cold it will be exposed to will cause the wood to warp and eventually the projector will be crooked. Should have used all that expensive shop equipment to make a metal bracket instead.

To answer the question of "how do you measure .8 of a foot"
12x.8 (which gives you 9.6)
And then if you wanted metric, 11x12 (which equals 132), then add 10 inches (rounded up from 9.6), giving you 142. Then multiply that by 2.54 giving you approx. 356cm or 3.56m
(I know I could've converted to meters but I'm more comfortable using centimeters)

A stud finder shows you the outer edges of the stud NOT the center, mark both edges then drill in the middle of the finder marks. The finder senses where there is a solid behind the drywall and it is up to you to find the center of the solid by using the finder correctly.

I like how they have the projector screen to go over the TV that's about double the size of my TV, but they need a bigger screen.
I love projectors. Home theater is such a class above a big TV.
No projector needs to mount in the center of the screen though. They all have a built in lens drop (not talking adjustable lens shift) for a reason.

Who’s gonna tell him that’s what the stud finder is supposed to do. You mark two points (edges of the stud) and drill in the middle.

Linus: "How do you measure .8 of a foot?"
6 out of 5 people struggle with math.

The Plywood costs more than the TV at this point.
