This whole situation was avoidable. Alcohol never helps … yes, the teenagers were provoking it initially by name-calling … but when he grabbed those inner tubes that changed everything because they were not able to leave, and if it were me, I would not leave my innertube . Maybe he could have stabbed their tubes instead of stabbing them. They would’ve got the message across and he would not be going to prison for life. I don’t know how else to look at this except it’s just a horrific disaster all around for everyone.

Every time one of the attorneys say they're going to play the video of the event you can see the witnesses cringing inside, knowing they're gonna be seen for what they really are which is the opposite to what they're trying to portray. It's a VERY good question, maybe a lawyer, or someone from law enforcement can answer that question. My guess: the State wanted them as witnesses, and they might be more likely to give the State what it wanted to hear for a conviction, if they weren't given tickets for those things.

And labeling them victims is definitely fake news. First off, Miu has not been convicted of murder so they are not victims as of right now. Secondly, the evidence proves they all lied and they not only lied, but they lie during their testimony and constantly correct their lies when the defense attorney informs them what they just said is not possible! Madison fell down according to Ryan Nelson's testimony, then he's shown the freeze frame of the video showing she never fell and is still holding a drink in one hand, her sell phone in the other. So, *on the stand,* he changes his testimony 3 seconds later! This happens over and over and over with each and every single witness from the prosecution and that are also being called "victims" by the fake news. These kids are ultimately to blame for everything. When you generate a panoramic map of where everyone is standing in the video, he was surrounded from all directions and another half dozen people are on their way that the camera only shows for about 1 second. If Miu had not defended himself, they would at the very least have beaten him senseless if not killed him. Each attack was more violent than the first.

I don’t understand how people think running up and touching someone’s property is justified. Hitting someone is justified. Stabbing multiple people is justified in this situation? No one was acting right. Alcohol and a group of teenagers was involved. If I was being talked to that way and recorded I would have felt extremely uncomfortable and angry. But I’d like to think I wouldn’t approach said group and further the situation. Then stick around to strike someone, brandish a knife and then stab multiple people. This is not justified. People can’t stab others when they’re uncomfortable or even “threatened”. They need to walk away.

I think this will end in a hung jury. Look at how divided the commentors are. Everyone seems to be firmly in one of the two camps. I have to imagine the jury is no different, with some thinking he's guilty and some thinking it's self defense. Defendant had a quadruple bypass, was medically fragile, being pushed down repeatedly, having his head forced underwater, being attacked by a mob definitely would have put his life at risk. All actions on his part are self defense.
I may agree with you but go back and look at the start of the video 4:53. He goes up to them. They were in their rafts, yes saying dumb stuff but why go up to them. And many times he could ahve walked away back to his group. Also, the only one from the teen group that got stabbed was the last one and it was right to the heart. One of the guys he stabbed was trying to break up the fight till he stabbed the girl from his group. So many things he could have done to avoid all of this. But I also blame the young men/teenagers for starting it and kept it going till it got to this point.
I live in Minnesota and I've been to apple river it's legal to sell to younger adults at the liquor store there, I went there when I was like 26 but I seen many underaged people there drinking also if your over 18 then anyone can buy alcohol for them just so you know.

Maybe he could have stabbed their tubes instead of stabbing them. They would’ve got the message across and he would not be going to prison for life. It's a VERY good question, maybe a lawyer, or someone from law enforcement can answer that question. My guess: the State wanted them as witnesses, and they might be more likely to give the State what it wanted to hear for a conviction, if they weren't given tickets for those things.

I don’t understand how people think running up and touching someone’s property is justified. Hitting someone is justified. Stabbing multiple people is justified in this situation? No one was acting right. Alcohol and a group of teenagers was involved. If I was being talked to that way and recorded I would have felt extremely uncomfortable and angry. I may agree with you but go back and look at the start of the video 4:53. He goes up to them. They were in their rafts, yes saying dumb stuff but why go up to them.
