- Ryhley Mattison was the 11th witness to testify in the Apple River stabbing trial. Mattison was among the five people stabbed on the river on July 30, 2022. Nicolae Miu is facing life in prison for the crimes.

This man should not be on trial. All of these "witnesses" instigated, and mob attacked an older man for no reason, and not a single one even attempted to give him a chance to even talk. They are 100% responsible for this entire situation and should be the ones trial.
He lied about all of it. What is so hard to understand about that? Self Defense normally doesnt come with lie after lie after lie. "I took a knife from the kids. They all had knives." (They didnt.) "I was looking for a snorkel they knocked off my head." (They didnt do that either) This dude lied multiple times about the events that took place.....but yea man....he's "innocent."

Yeah, he instigated the whole thing, got everyone agitated over false accusations that he later states “I don’t know why I said that”(regarding numerous lies) then as his friend holds his intestines, bleeding out, he sweeps around and takes a live selfie. The legal definition of an "assault" is putting your hands on someone without permission. This witness put her hands on the defendant twice. The other woman also put her hands on him. They escalated the situation into a violent encounter.
They all pushed him and he got punched and he tried to get a way, but they surrounded him and pushed him some more, they were lucky he only did 2, lost for lost. That's how hell was designed.
These kids were drunk and high acting like animals, now they want to appear calm and rational.

Why be sorry? These people ruined so many lives including their own. They will be self-medicating drug addicts in and out of jail for decades, Isaac is gone forever, Mr. Miu and his wife have had their lives flipped upside down, all because this woman and her gang couldn’t mind their business.
These comments worry me even further for the future of our species. Dumb kids, sure. A group that may have misread the situation, but certainly seemed they were just trying to help. A grown ass man who wasn’t going to tolerate some rowdy kids and, despite supposedly being the only sober-ish person in the mix, refused to just walk the hell away. Regardless of what did or didn’t happen in the river that day, miu shows by his own actions in the aftermath that even HE didn’t believe he was just innocently defending himself. I don’t think this was first degree murder necessarily, but he is DEFINITELY responsible for the carnage & for Isaac’s death. Absolutely manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon, as well as obstruction for stashing the knife and running away in disguise.
I would say in the beginning it was all the kids this fault and I can completely see why he would be afraid at that moment but he had gotten away after being pushed into the water and then returned to the situation. After the he left the situation and was no longer surrounded by people he should have had no longer feared for his life. He was just trying to protect his ego. He is a maniac and he needs to go to jail. Plus, if you've watched the whole trial, you'll realize that after murdering that poor child, he tried to disguise himself by putting on a shirt, hat and sunglasses and then tried to run away from the law enforcement.If he truly felt he was innocent and just defending himself, why did he try to not only run away in incognito but he also tried to hide the knife in the woods. Even if it's self-defense there should still be charges for resisting arrest, evading and tampering with evidence.
You didnt know him, he said nothing to you but you felt the need to yell at him, get in his face, put your hands on him. There is no way Nic hit the other girl, he was half way to the ground as she was turning and this girl was in-between them. There is no way anyone saying Nic is guilty wouldn't feel threatened in the same situation. No one got the blade that didnt put hands on that man.

The behavior of these kids was horrendous and uncalled for. I'd say this again, if I were a juror, the prosecutor did not successfully prove beyond any reasonable doubts that Miu's action was not as a result of self-defense. These punks assaulted, taunted, and bullied the defendant, where they had options to NOT do all of those and MOVE ALONG.

It would be one thing if he was honest and claimed self-defense, but he blatantly lied until the video came out and he couldn't lie anymore. @serenadobrick i watched every minute of every single person in the stand back to back. said he saw them with something that looked like the phone in a float bag when he approached, and then he ran at them or in his words "increased his pace" to "investigate" if it was his friends phone his words. he said he "stumbeled and landed on their tubes." Theres also a point in the conversation where he says their group thought the phone rang sounded in the direction of the kids with their tubes before he left to go search. very clear that he thought they might have this phone, and thats why he brought himself over there and wouldnt leave when asked to do so

I never stabbed anyone, ever. If I had I would have gone to prison.

He has the knife in his right hand when this SOMETHING happens because you can see it clearly in the video.
