I was worried no one would watch it except for my own students but made it because there really isn't anything online for this text for IGCSE! Best of luck for Monday :)
I know!!! I've also been trying to find resources for my Year 11s and there's hardly anything at all. I've found this revision guide quite useful too: issuu.com/johnlyonharrow/docs/the_whale_rider_complete_study_guide?fr=xKAE9_zU1NQ
Hi I got my results for the literature paper that I did and I got a grade 9,, Thank you sm for this help well I would say it was a last-minute revision and something more special I just needed 10 more marks to get the full marks. Ouh thank you so much you are just so brilliant
My predictions for character and theme... Character/relationships: How is Kahu presented in the novel Explore the relationship between Kahu and Koro Theme: Examine the theme of tradition in the novel Examine the theme of nature in the novel We haven't had an explicitly Kahu or Koro question in quite some time, so I wouldn't be surprised if either of those characters came up by themselves or combined together in a relationship question. Similarly, we haven't had a nature/tradition question in quite some time and those themes are really at the heart of the novel. Good luck! I think this is quite a kind paper since you don't need to analyse language. Just remember to include moments, explain their symbolic significance and link to context.
Umm can you tell for 1st language IGCSE that in p2 can u explain how to contradict from other pov and how to evaluate it with the point we are supporting in the directed writing? On monday i have my exam pls reply.
Hey! So evaluation is the probing, examining and challenging of implicit ideas within the texts. OFTEN this can take the form of a counterargument, but it could also be developing or questioning an idea. Most of the time it isn't balanced, e.g. in November the argument was entirely one sided for the agree side. But on occasion it can be more balanced and have ideas from both texts. Firstly, read your question carefully to see if it's pushing you to support a particular side. E.g. the one in November was "Write a letter to your boss to PURSUADE him that you SHOULD be allowed to listen to podcasts". After that, I recommend that you read both texts and highlight them for the explicit arguments the texts are making. If there's one side you're arguing for, then as you go through the texts, consider why any counterarguments the text is making against your side may be wrong and why. Evaluation is just the idea that as you're discussing the pros and cons, you're not just summarising the explicit information that the text told you, but evaluating the implicit information too. If you just summarise and generally say that you agree/disagree then that isn't evaluative so you're capped at a maximum of 9/15 reading marks. I'm perhaps oversimplifying when I say "counterargument" to mean evaluation, but often that is what the evaluation marks are on the mark scheme. It's finding those logical fallacies, holes in their points, or ideas that they haven't yet explicitly said, only hinted towards. Here are my videos where I discuss this in more detail. I recommend watching the "write with me" one in particular as I talk you through my process: * Write with me: ruclips.net/video/Qoy-uV4nMXA/видео.html * Directed Writing explained: ruclips.net/video/lDhh_icsNTg/видео.html * Paper 2 Tips and Tricks: ruclips.net/video/yVgzJImdLzo/видео.html
my ELI igcse startes in ah hour and i just wanted a vid to sum up and give me pointers and this was a very good vid thank you so much. i hope i do well lmao
I wanted to request a video if you can make for paper 2 as I'm taking my exams in November and I really need help and I do Edexcel Mcbeth and An inspector calls maybe key tips just like this video on how you show basically as any intro for any kinds of questions
Hello I know this is off topic but if you used quotation marks like “bus.” in the question which says to identify words of phrases from the passage etc would u still get the mark in fle igcse.I used double quotation marks when answering 😪
Can I check, is your question whether you should use double or single quotation marks? If so, it would make absolutely no difference. There's no preference for a style of speech marks for IGCSE ☺
Haha thank you but no time to make so quickly! It is on my agenda for next year. Best of luck with your exam. I recommend Mrs Rumsey's channel - she has great videos on the Edexcel anthology poems.
@@cidrus an abomination! Mr JR says hello, think I know who this is! Hello from me too and good luck with your mock results and upcoming real igcses. Time flies!
