This caller is seemingly very bothered that under an atheistic worldview, Hitler would not be "ultimately punished" for his evil acts. Yet according to the caller's own Christian theology, had Hitler sincerely asked for forgiveness and accepted Jesus Christ into his heart prior to his death, he would have secured eternal life in heaven for himself. Also according to the caller's Christian theology, any of Hitler's victims who died without having accepted Jesus into their hearts would have been sentenced to eternal torture. Such a proposed setup is just bizarre to me.
the student got any evidence for that conspiratard claim? To not believe a fairytale due to lack of evidence just to turn around and believe some other comspiratardation nation horseshit for which there is also no evidence whatsoever to support it is kind of sad
+Emma S that's a very important question that cuts right to the heart of my understanding about the nature of God. And they have even less to go on, but the blurb and their main question (probably just their main question actually) you can't cherrypick with that little information

These types of callers are hard to have on the show because they fire of so many nonsensical statements per minute it's almost impossible to respond. The caller had barely finished throwing out "you don't know what a true Christian is" when he switched to his next non sequitur. Most theist callers at least have a chain of reasoning, flawed as it will be, that they present to the host of the show and they can chat about that.
Christians believe in the invisible man.. Do they believe in the invisible woman or is the invisible man A Sexual, how can God be a man when women give birth... Shouldn't it be the invisible WOMAN, makes a lot more sense right , did you ever wonder why women can't teach and must obey yet without the women we have no society.. Try and rap this around your brain women don't need men they need a sperm bank to continue on with out men. But men can't force women to give a healthy birth to men unless that's what they want, women could take over if they put there minds to it.. We're these religious people should go back to, they don't respect evolving freedoms at all, they won't evolve and they don't want any of us to evolve except in war fare they love murder and enslavement😍we as Americans evolve. I think Jeff should have had the humility to just admit that Hitler escaped punishment by killing himself because to be say him dying at his own hands was sufficient punishment for what he did was a bit of a weak response......
Jeff didn't claim the Hitler got "sufficient punishment", only that Hitler's punishment was that his life ceased to continue. He said that "Hitler did pay for his atrocities".
I think Hitler's demise must have been really painful to him: he believed so firmly in the superiority of the Aryan nation, and yet he saw it crumble in the hands of one of his most hated enemies: Soviet Russia. There could hardly be anything more humiliating than that. Now, was that "sufficient" punishment for what we did? I don't think we can even answer that. How can we measure an adequate punishment for systematic genocide? Maybe his humiliation was puny compared to the suffering he and his regime caused. Maybe his death was an easy way out. Perhaps it's fair to *wish* he was punished more thoroughly. But is it rational to believe something just because we WISH it were true? And it is rational, or even ethical, to imply that atheists are immoral because they don't believe Hitler was sufficiently punished? Is it honest to imply that atheists agree with Hitler's lack of punishment just because they don't believe otherwise? The answers are: no, *no*, and *FUCK NO*.
The moral is that life is not fair, and neither is death. Yes, if someone innocent dies horribly just like Hitler, that's what happened. It's not fair, but it's the truth, there's no cosmic "fairness" in justice after someone's life.
What does it matter whether any of us think it's unfair that Hitler doesn't get an eternity in hell? Do they think if we admit that it's unfair that we would then have to admit there is a hell because life can't possibly be unfair and there must be justice in the universe? Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Reality doesn't bend to what we think is fair or not, it is whatever it is. Besides, no one in their right mind could think it fair that Hitler would get the same eternal punishment as an atheist who did no harm to his fellow man, whose only "crime" was not believing in a God who didn't give him or her the evidence they needed to believe in Him. Sorry, but that would be even more unfair to subject good people to eternal torture than for Hitler to simply be dead and wiped from existence.

Off topic: why do Americans say "I could care less" meaning "I don't care"? To say you could care less, means you care. The correct phrase is "I couldn't care less" meaning there is no possible way you could care any less, because you can't care less than not at all.
I think Americans are the only ones who say it. Lol it is a bit nit picky,, which is why I have never commented on it before although it's bugged me for years! Another thing that bugs me is that so many Americans say 'You did good" instead of "You did well"

Keryn's point at 6:07 is the same thing I've been saying to the "no punishment for Hitler" objection for years. Punishment is not a goal (i.e. "getting what you deserve") but a means to deter or make amends for wrongdoing and safeguard the wellbeing of others. With that in mind, I don't care if Hitler is spending his afterlife in a golden space castle with all the beer, jelly donuts, and hot women he could ever want. What matters is that wherever he is now and whether or not he still exists, he can't hurt anyone else.
I'm glad the caller brought up Hitler. A christian I know said that if Hitler had accepted jesus before he died, he would go to heaven, irregardless of his atrocities, just because he accepted jesus.
***** In heaven, you can't be serious??? And your rational is everyone else was doing it??? So if everyone jumped off a cliff, you would do it??? It's scary how popular it is among religious people to shut-off the ability to reason, pay attention to the feelings of others, and base belief off of what we see around ourselves.
the guy keeps saying: _"well; but that's my point; that's what I'm trying to tell you"_, while not getting what he's just heard them say, claiming it's exactly what he means to say .... sigh....
Exactly. The ”truth” is in their heads. And since they ”are their heads” they think they know the truth. The difference is some people have the ability to think outside their heads (at least somewhat) and see that their view isn't the only one.
If everyone dies, they are not equally punished. The reason being that not everyone gets a full life before they die, and think of all the things people miss out on when they die young.
@omnissient btw I really enjoy these little debates...If it ever gets heated I don't want to keep going. Just let me know if I am offending you at any time. I just enjoy debate :)
The scientific method is the only consistently reliable way that we have right now for determining the nature of our reality and separating fact from fiction. The method you describe, this internal introspection and such has never been demonstrated to reveal useful knowledge. It can help one organize thoughts and come up with ideas that can then be tested by the scientific method, but it has not been able to reveal any actual true knowledge to anyone.
@THEEVANTHETOON “So where do you draw the line?” It’s all based on your perception of the person who died. For example, I’m more likely to care about my mom dying than someone else’s because I have a closer relationship with mine. It’s all subjective. “So what makes him convinced that his own generation is right and all others were wrong?” Because certain ideas have evidence and logic behind them and others don’t, and he makes his decisions based upon those two factors.
Lost all respect for Jeff on this one for his complete shutdown of his co-host. Finally, she has to beg him to allow her continue and his smug attitude as he momentarily allows it was sickening.
Nah, just that back then the AE was a local oddity and callers would not know the trouble they are getting into. (Of course the AE guys were not as honed as they are today, battle-scarred atheist veterans :P)
@THEEVANTHETOON I read the refutations of the omnipotence paradox, and it all essentially boils down to people completely ignoring the question and just saying “God can do anything, so shut up.” Or it goes by basically admitting that there are some things that an omnipotent being can’t do (completely destroying the idea of omnipotence).

As for the software of the brain - that's your mind. Your mind is not a physical object. You can't see, touch, or test your mind - you can only do that with the brain. However, the mind is just like the calculator program. It is a representation of electrical impulses through synapses inside of your brain; the difference here is the brain itself creates it, while the computer did not create the calculator. It's how you make sense of your own brain's inner machinations. Apologies for the length.
In a few other episodes, she speak a lot more often, but on the other hand, Jeff Dee gets seriously into, because he really doesn't care about someone on the other end of the line.

the guy keeps saying: _"well; but that's my point; that's what I'm trying to tell you"_, while not getting what he's just heard them say, claiming it's exactly what he means to say .... sigh....
Was waiting for them to let the girl talk. When she did she said “ i have no proof jesus ever existed, but I believe he was a philosopher. 🙄”
How do we know we're not perfect? Cause we have flaws. Perfect things don't have flaws.
Exactly. The ”truth” is in their heads. And since they ”are their heads” they think they know the truth. The difference is some people have the ability to think outside their heads (at least somewhat) and see that their view isn't the only one.
6:58 - brilliant Jeff Dee rant
Jeff doesn't seem to like letting others speak, or at least he doesn't notice them.
@giovanone I must have missed his great points, could you explain?
If everyone dies, they are not equally punished. The reason being that not everyone gets a full life before they die, and think of all the things people miss out on when they die young.
9:15 they should've asked the caller if he ever read a comics or watched a movie
"Well you are wrong my friend" hahaha
How can you know that this line isn't straight if you've never seen a perfectly straight line!?!?
Wow.
=
I don't like to think people that commit 'evil' go ultimately unpunished, therefore I choose to believe that they won't.
Oh, Lawd... That caller has my name. I feel so disappoint. :(
TTT^TTT
It always deeply disturbs me hearing children in the background on these calls.
Sorry about the typo but hope u get the point.
Jeff looks alot younger haha
@omnissient btw I really enjoy these little debates...If it ever gets heated I don't want to keep going. Just let me know if I am offending you at any time. I just enjoy debate :)
"You're wrong my friend" - solid argument
I think the caller was one of those "imperfick" ancient tribal ancestors.
Poor Karyn.
babies are not evil when they are born, that sir is a christian concept
Damn. I like this combination. Jeff Dee has to be my favourite and Keryn is a nice contrast to his sometimes abrasive behaviour.
Sounds like he wants to beat someone up.
Caller makes the classic no true Scotsman fallacy, and then moves on to the bare assertion fallacy.
@THEEVANTHETOON
“So where do you draw the line?” It’s all based on your perception of the person who died.
3:20 - 3:50: served!
Lost all respect for Jeff on this one for his complete shutdown of his co-host.
Finally, she has to beg him to allow her continue and his smug attitude as he momentarily allows it was sickening.
@Phnatec123 Do you have evidence to support your theory?
I'm seriously asking. Your theory is intriguing.
Nah, just that back then the AE was a local oddity and callers would not know the trouble they are getting into.
(Of course the AE guys were not as honed as they are today, battle-scarred atheist veterans :P)
@THEEVANTHETOON
I read the refutations of the omnipotence paradox, and it all essentially boils down to people completely ignoring the question and just saying “God can do anything, so shut up.” Or it goes by basically admitting that there are some things that an omnipotent being can’t do (completely destroying the idea of omnipotence).
I was referring to his co-host lol
03:00 Question: The source of evil. "With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil - that takes religion." Steven Weinberg.
@skitzo429 I am actually interested in learning about the history of the different Jewish denominations. I know how they started, but I don't know much about the individuals who started them and their specific explanations.
And if you watch other episodes, you can see them when Karyn is doing most of the talking. And when she gets on a roll, the other host can't say anything.
That happens with all of the hosts at some point.
Matt : So you are not satisfied with the way Hitler was punished, correct?
Caller : Yes, that's why Jesus has created......
Tracie : How do you know?
Caller : Because it says so in the bible...
Matt : I don't care what the bible says !
Caller : #Bluescreenofdeath
The girl didnt want to say where she got the jesus story from....lol
Jeff is a Boss!
Why oh why does this still exist in people's minds? Can we please just move on...
@torchss I imagine there will be many who choose not to know, but do you choose not to have a savior, or do you think you don't need one?
@ikvsabre Well yes I understand that on your belief you decide what's right and wrong. But what do you base your decision upon?
Weak because we don't seek comfort in lies?
As for the software of the brain - that's your mind. Your mind is not a physical object. You can't see, touch, or test your mind - you can only do that with the brain. However, the mind is just like the calculator program. It is a representation of electrical impulses through synapses inside of your brain; the difference here is the brain itself creates it, while the computer did not create the calculator. It's how you make sense of your own brain's inner machinations.
Apologies for the length.
lol at 5:16 ... Jeff knows he's not going to get anywhere with this guy
In a few other episodes, she speak a lot more often, but on the other hand, Jeff Dee gets seriously into, because he really doesn't care about someone on the other end of the line.
@ur2c8 The caller was just spouting nonsense to try to put them on the spot. They didn't do anything wrong, they were just answering a bunch of nonsense questions.
