Well said, Jeff. A threat is a threat, and should always be treated as such. If your child threatens to hurt you or someone else, even if they are physically incapable of doing so, you still send that child to time-out, because that is unacceptable behavior regardless.
***** I think his reaction is a genuine surprise to those people who think they're doing him a "favor" by telling him he's going to hell. They think their message is loving and caring and good, but in reality it's disgusting and crass.
***** To be fair, I've known many kind christians - my sister, for one, is an amazingly kind person who just happens to be a christian. I don't believe they're all trying to be hurtful - rather I think they just aren't aware of how hurtful these things are.
***** I try to err on the side of caution, assuming most people are not acting out of malice until I have evidence that they are. It's not perfect, but it's all I've got.
Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in hell, there are other motivations like eternal afterlife to cope with death of loved ones, paradise heaven, and prayers.
Love how jeff always gets upset when someone threatens hell, and hes right these people are fantasizing about enjoying watching unbelievers being tortured.
I used to be nice and placate Christians. Show mutual respect, right? Then I got sick of tiptoeing around them. One problem is Christians are not going to extend atheist the same respect. So, now I am somewhat militant toward them just like Jeff. Love Jeff!
Even if there was a hell, it would at least be a place completely free of Christians, so there's no reason at all to fear it.

It sounds funny, but sadly it is true. I am with you. Hanging out with Christians for a minute seems like hell. I am excited to think of some of the greatest people to ever be born will be strolling through hell with me. Sweet. Separation from god..... give me some.
The first time I heard Jeff go off on a caller, I also thought it was overblown. However, after hearing this explanation, I agree with him completely. It is just as insulting as the assumption that I am in need of saving.
I attended catholic school as a child and when I was in second grade the nuns taught us that any child who was not catholic would go to hell. That ment all my friends who wern't catholic were going to hell. I could not believe that and at 7 years old I began to question and reject many of their teachings. Of course I could not speak up because I was too afraid of the angry penquins with the rulers.
My nephew USED to go to church. When he was about 7 years old he told me I was going to go to hell for a couple reasons... one, I'm gay and another cause I disciplined him (just normal discipline). I was very upset and told him that any church that taught him something like that is a horrible and wrong place. He stopped going to church altogether shortly after that. The thing is, he's never actually had a problem with me being gay, since he's always known.
Christians clearly look forward (according to their beliefs) the day they can sit in heaven and watch the rest of us suffer unspeakable torments in hell
...What if there isn't more to life than this? What an outstanding question! Philosophers, Authors, Poets, Playwrights, Scientists, atheists, Deists and many of histories great thinkers have given this matter a great deal of thought. Some have concluded there is something else and other have come to a different conclusion. But please don't tell those who are considering the great questions of this life that the question is not worth spending some time on.
There was a great old twilight zone episode were a gangster dies and thinks he went to heaven because he always wins at pool, allways wins in bets, beautiful women go to bed with him, he's swimming in money but he's not happy. Then he finally says to the caretaker "this is not what he thought heaven was" and the caretaker say "what makes you think your in heaven" and showing his devil horns.
When I was a christian I threatened Hell to people, but I didn't do it egotistically, or to scare people to think like me, I honestly believed they were going to hell when they die and I felt it was my duty to warn them. Now that I've grown out of believing in such BS I can see how I may have seemed insulting.
i came here because i know shits gonna go down (haven't watched it yet, about to) deluded christian + Jeff Dee = bloodshed xD now lets hope jeff here won't jump through my screen from so much rage
A quick one-minute search on the net (try wikipedia if no-where else) showed up basic details of the problems caused by her corrupt beliefs. For other relevant clips on youtube, do a search on [athiest experience mother teresa] or even [penn teller holier than thou]
I apologize for underestimating the thought you have given to this matter. It's common to connect with correspondents who are so confrontational about matters of faith. Before my walk with Christ I was like that too and gave my Christian friends and associates an uncomfortable time. Boy were they surprised! Christ is so much more than 'Christianity'. In him I have assurance, rest, peace, forgiveness, hope, a new vision and a genuine love for others. (and a place in his coming Kingdom) Awesome!
He uses no violence when he unleashes his anger in the temple. He never fought back when he was beaten and nailed to the cross. I have read parts of the Gospels 5 times. He preached love your enemy, turn the other cheek, do good for those who hate you, put away your sword. An analysis of his teachings and actions reveals that he condemned violence.
And in this crazy world its not inconceivable, that one of those zealots would take steps to send you there. That's another reason I think it pisses Jeff off. And I don't blame him.
The only good thing about christians and muslims and the like, thinking atheists can go to heaven without converting is that the don't treat us like monsters when they think that
It's so funny that he started out "KILL KILL KILL IF YOU BELIEVE I WILL ANNOINT YOU WITH THE POWER TO DESTROY THE (insert old name here and add the suffix "ites") " To "LOVE EVERYONE OR YOU'RE BAD!"
@RuinSonic there are always the exceptions i suppose...but for the most part kindly talking about it over lunch or somethin is the best way to go...no one gets mad and your both still friends at the end of the day
Why would any sane person want to live for eternity in a place like heaven? If you weren't crazy before you went there, you certainly would be after you'd been there a few years.
Since Yahweh is demonstrably bonkers, I always kinda thought you'd just have your mind stripped of you upon arrival. Like Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Turn ya into a zombie capable only of groveling at the feet of a god who likes to kick his creations in the face a lot.
A Darker Storm No, your mind is stripped in order to get there. That is why Christians are told that they must have blind faith. Faith gives a person permission not to think or reason. It is the last despairing action that people resort to when there is something in which they want to, or feel they desperately need to believe, but for which they have absolutely no evidence and no reason other than that do-or-die need to believe. Faith is simply another name for self-delusion. If you have verified evidence for something, then faith is no longer required, but, as in the case of god, for which you have absolutely no evidence, then blind faith is all you have, no matter how much you rationalise it and wrap it up in convenient reasons to believe, usually because it gives you a nice, warm, comforting feeling.
yes the "you deserve to go to hell because you're not in our club" is chilidish, stupid and people are assholes for saying it, but really its no different to having a mild argument with a stranger in public and they insult u, u shouldnt get bothered by it, u'll never see them again, i hope he copes ok in situations like that
Hypothetically speaking... I have two envelopes in my hand. One contains an all expenses paid holiday of a life time and the other has a day trip to your nearest Prison. The envelope with the holiday is brightly colored and has "CHOOSE THIS ONE" written all over it. The other envelope has 'DON"T CHOOSE THIS" on it. I offer you a choice of envelopes but hold out to you the bright envelope and hold back the other one saying "It's not for you". Which one would you choose? Dueteronomy 30v19
@breaneainn What better way to scare them into submission? I mean, depending on age, the threat of thought crimes from santa will wear off eventually. Have to lay the ground work early.
I am totally with Jeff on this issue, the religious SHOULD be made to feel ashamed for invoking hell as a punishment to atheists. It may make them think about what they believe and whether its moral or not.
@Texmurphy51 how do any of the 4 points relate to each other? Atheists have no need to disprove anything, it's up to believers to prove their god or gods existance.
PS: I usually don't use cuss words, but since its Jeff videos. I might as well try doing so. It wasn't that fun of an experience. I will refrain from doing so until I mastered the art of Tyson Neil way of doing so.
Sorry, the better argument is the Euthyphro Dilemma - type in 'atheist experience euthyphro dilemma' into youtube's seach engine. I was thinking of a different dilemma - the problem of evil.
@RuinSonic well 1 its good to know you care so little for the body of your son/daughter... 2nd killing it and giving it to science is still KILLING IT!
I suppose death is scary for some...or even...most people. Religion tends to play on our fears of the unknown, it plays with our emotions, why we are here, and our fear of death, Some religions scare us soo badly that we believe because we are too scared to question it or not believe it.
Xenu is coming back to Earth as well. We have to be sure to buy those mechanisms that get rid of evil spirits so that Xenu can't find us. It was written in a book just as reliable as the bible as well!
Hypothetically speaking a guy come to you says "you need to pay me protection money"..you say "what do I need to be protected from"..he say "well from me".You say "what will happen if I don't pay"..he say I'll come back and torture you.would you call him a moral loving person?would you call that a fair choice?
I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy. I want you to get mad! You've gotta say, "I'm a human being! My life has value!" So, I want you to get up now. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell, "I'm as mad as Jeff Dee and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"
The problem is not what individual priests - but the organisation that used it's wealth and authority to cover up the crimes and move the priests around....have you seen the news about Ireland lately?
@Texmurphy51 A) just because its not a problem on the current level of politics doesnt make it right B) just because your not intimidated by the idea of hell doesnt mean its wrong to thing someone is going to go there C) there has been no sharp increase of crime theres been a sharp increase of what we consiter crime over the last 100 years or so..... and D) it really doesnt matter weather mans religion has any connection with a creator you still cant prove in anyway that he exists
My favorite retort to the threat of hell is simpl, "its not a threat until its real...and you can't prove that its real" Typically this leads into a pascals wager reply, but debating with the hardline theists is linda like playing skiball...its for assumsment only.

Jeff, don't ever change. =D

***** Well, I'm no saint (heh), but I try. Someone's got to, these days.
***** Hehe thanks - likewise. =) RUclips is a dangerous land indeed. =P
I love how jeff always loses it when people threaten him with hell.
Question for ALL CHRISTIANS: If god did NOT send people to hell for not believing in him, would you still believe in/worship him??
shakiralover2004 Well Jews don't believe in hell, so some of them probably
shakiralover2004 yes
Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in hell, there are other motivations like eternal afterlife to cope with death of loved ones, paradise heaven, and prayers.
Jeff is my special happy place.
Love Jeff!
more Jeff Dee please! love you man
+Who am I? Really? He's about my least favorite host on here.
Melanie Jecker i like them all. russell is prob my least fav, though i dont dislike any of them.
....and you want to have sex with him....
jeff dee is seriously my hero.
I dont want a gun pointed at me even if it is unloaded.
I admire Jeff's passion. It takes all kinds.... Jeff is the man!
Even if there was a hell, it would at least be a place completely free of Christians, so there's no reason at all to fear it.

Also, eternity with Christopher Hitchens =D
That would indeed be hellish.
Like Paradise, no christians WOW where to buy tickets one way .............
Unless it was the Muslim hell...

Jeff Dee, you absolutely and utterly nail it.
I miss Jeff on the show!!!

Good one man! You sure showed them!
Well put
I Perfectly Agree with Jeff Dee Perfectly and all he says on the Topic !!!
lol, I've never before heard the concept of accepting the punishment of hell because that would be the honorable thing to do. Such a good point
Christians clearly look forward (according to their beliefs) the day they can sit in heaven and watch the rest of us suffer unspeakable torments in hell
When a theist brings up hell, Give Em Hell Jeff!!! Yahoooo!!!
Someone has to prove to me that there's a Hell before they can tell me I'm going there.
...What if there isn't more to life than this?

Jeff is awesome
JEFF ROCKS!!!!!

I don't see how any reasonable person could dislike this video. Wait.. that explains everything.
Woo! Go Jeff!
I LOVE that movie...
Hell is an imaginary place. The wrath and anger of Jeff Dee is REAL!
Special happy place lol.
Jeff Dee is a fuckin legend.
I like Jeff the way he is. TAA needs someone confrontational yet intellectual. :)
When I was a christian I threatened Hell to people, but I didn't do it egotistically, or to scare people to think like me, I honestly believed they were going to hell when they die and I felt it was my duty to warn them. Miss the Dee 😢
jeff dee is awesome :D
i came here because i know shits gonna go down (haven't watched it yet, about to)
deluded christian + Jeff Dee = bloodshed xD
now lets hope jeff here won't jump through my screen from so much rage
Great Talking Heads song (heaven) they played 3 seconds of in the intro.
People don't get sent to jail for having beliefs, but for actions.
I love Jeff's pet peeve. I will use it myself, adding that the threaten-er can go to hell right now.
Jeff Dee sort of reminds me of the Joker from 'The Dark Knight'. heh
The verbal bloodletting occurs in one of the videos linked to this one.
"Jeff Dee Rants On Christian Caller Over Hell"
love it
Choose god and go to heaven. Don't choose god and go to hell, and they call that freedom of choice. That's some seriously flawed thinking.
What about the part where he tells people that enemies of him should be brought and killed in front of him.. ???
A quick one-minute search on the net (try wikipedia if no-where else) showed up basic details of the problems caused by her corrupt beliefs.

Fonzie said 'AYYYYYYYYY' so yo know i mean that makes sense right. PRAISE BE TO FONZIE
"pretty well"
There's not much I can do about the quality of the video. It's from the AE podcast as usual.

Jeff Dee is so gangster! I love the guy! Let others 'kill em with kindness' while you continue to kill em with logic, Jeff!
Well it should apply to all societies.
Why would any sane person want to live for eternity in a place like heaven? If you weren't crazy before you went there, you certainly would be after you'd been there a few years.
Honestman400 Don't forget that "the party never ends and you can't leave, no, no, you must stay." Christopher Hitchens was a cool dude.

Giving them hell about Hell.

Bad enough Christians lie about believing in a hell, worse is that they don't seem too bothered that people are going.
I suppose death is scary for some...or even...most people. Religion tends to play on our fears of the unknown, it plays with our emotions, why we are here, and our fear of death, Some religions scare us soo badly that we believe because we are too scared to question it or not believe it.

The problem is there's no mention of temple service or even that such was possible for a woman. Everything he says is consistent with her dying.
Me. Also, that's not how you use an apostrophe. Also, questions should end with a question mark rather than three exclamation marks.
3:10 Fuck that. I want you guys to explode...in a rational and reasonable way
Jeff has this great cynicism to him like a mix of Bill Hicks and Christopher Hitchens
I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job.
We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.
I want you to get mad!
You've gotta say, "I'm a human being! My life has value!"
So, I want you to get up now. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,

B) just because your not intimidated by the idea of hell doesnt mean its wrong to thing someone is going to go there
C) there has been no sharp increase of crime theres been a sharp increase of what we consiter crime over the last 100 years or so.....

Ad Bacculam - Threats to the person
it is a logical fallacy to threaten
Baaaaaad assessment!
To understand the thoughts and opinions of others you may have to loosen your tether and wander into unfamiliar territory.
