seeing people talk about doing masters in other fields than their bachelors makes you realize how different non-european countries are. In europe there really aren't people who don't do all 5 years to get their masters apart from programmes that are only 3 years long as there is no master programme in that field. I recently got my bachelor in biotechnology and had my first day of my masters programme in molecular biotechnology as we split into bioprocess engineering and molecular biotechnology for our graduate programmes. Biotechnology is a specific, but versatile and sought after field as there are no other jobs and educational programmes that do and teach everything that we do. Most people study it bc of their love for natural sciences and you don't care about the engineering part. There were so many times I asked myself why I didn't study molecular biology, but in the end it's worth it. To anybody, who needs a little push I highly recommend studying biotechnology. You can pull through all the "boring" stuff. You will be part of a revolutionary field that is helping people in so many areas and substantial to our modern world

Iam personally a B.tech biotechnology graduate and to be honest Iam now really tired of writing review paper and research papers with no real output. The thing is it will take a lot of time to achieve something in this filed and some who is looking for easy money will be devastated in this field.

If you think you will earn a lot of money after 3/4 years of professional degree then again a big no. This field demands atleast a PhD if you really one to earn well. But remember one thing you will never match coders or developers in terms of money making. If you are seriously passionate about the subject willing to PhD and keep working with the same energy throughout then go ahead. I have already left this field and is currently working as a software engineer, I have completely switched my subject and to be honest I was never really interested in biotechnology , research for long hours without a good pay is not my cup of tea. Hopefully you get your answer now.
Just to add info. One of the way to get into the industries after B.E/B.Tec in Biotechnology is to get internships and do good there which increases chance for employment. One of the best way in India to get internship in Biotechnology is to give DBT Biotech Consortium exame successful candidate will be provided payed six months internship by DBT. Best luck to all. There is avarge pay. I wouldn't expect high salary like some other fields offer but yeah it's not that bad as well.

Do you know about something called passion? In biology what you really like? Do you also like scientists who do experiments on mice....? Do you do wow when you see applications in physics? Do you wanna be happy in life or wanna go for high packages like 40lack per annum? In biology do you love organisms, studying their funtions... Do you liked the biotechnology chapters in your biology ncert?
