In 2004 75% of total IITians used to leave India. Now 35% does . Highly intellect Engineering graduates need economic freedom and culture of innovation. That lacked in India. India was a poor socialist nation. License Raaj worsened everything. Though in 1991, it was relaxed but other major changes in terms of infrastructure, R&D didn't improve and till to this day, though infrastructure slightly improved in some few congregations. Once check the highest % of illegal immigrants to US. They are from Cuba- a socialist nation. Chinese who constitute the largest immigrant ethnicity came mostly during their hardcore socialist Mao era. Today, innovation index greatly improved. We are in top 30( up from below 80, 10 years ago). More changes are needed. Only removal of socialism, mass Industrialisation, progressive capitalism etc likewise things can retain our top brains.

I'm 16 years old, and my parents are professors at IIT Indore. Everything he's saying is actually true. Some of my friends are in the US, although they’re not IITians. Anyway, I'm not an IITian either, but I'm studying engineering in the USA.
No point in studying More than half of the seats are reserved They get admission on very low percentile 😢 You either need to be too good or have a category certificate
PhD Salary in IITs is around 43,400 INR per month. 🤔 (that was my salary- graduated in 2022) & if you are a PM research fellow, it’s 72000 INR per month. The tuition free for 6 months is around 5-18 k (Mine was 5 k per 6 months). And compared to the US PhD salaries, my friends said that they can barely manage . So, salary is not the reason for people doing PhD from abroad. It’s about exposure, learning new skills, better research (though it’s debatable), future connections to stay in the US. Yes, the PhD from other institutions in India (other than IITs or IISC Bangalore etc) is not worth doing , as of now. They don’t get the timely stipend/ salaries nor do they get enough research resources. As I am in the US now to do postdoc from a national lab, and we get to work with US companies and universities, I realised that the PhD from US universities is comparable to IITs PhD (i can say that for IIT Delhi). We had access to a range of research facilties and softwares to analyze, in our university or if we want to outsource our analysis, it didn’t cost us much. While here in the US, i see PhD students struggling to do small analysis from outside their labs, mostly because it is too expensive (which is just one example).
& I would add that I didn’t mean to take any particular side for PhD levels, this was a surprise to me as well when I came here and there’s a need to improve the education system of India (this being one of the important areas to be improved apart from many others). And for my view about PhDs, i’d say -ofcourse my sample size is small its just IIT Delhi and then a few US universities (but good ones I’d say). America is no doubt a land of opportunities. The work life balance, good standard of living and the exposure to the whole world/people’s perspective is what you gain here.
Why they will not live India? They are one of the brilliants mind of the country , even if they stayed in india they wouldnt have got proper importance, even after huge amount of salary 40%-45% would be given to goverment in various form of taxes and will not get anything in return taxes like UK and roads like somalia. Even personally I would get a chance to live india I will not think a sec to stay. US,UK they defnitely have high taxes but good infrastructure amazing quality of life , work life balance.
you cant just throw away problems in indian education , its a harsh reality that ncert ,cbse is pretty better than many other's like they allow 165 subjects but the problem is our corrupt schools and officials like our school just allow two side subjects forget about 165, we just the need a tight slap on officials and everything will be good under 5-10 years
Correctly, identified the problem. Many CBSE schools are reluctant to implement skill subject started under nep in 2021. They don't want to spend extra money.

2:21 I've noticed that while many people attend IIT, not all secure high-paying jobs right after graduation. Instead, some choose to pursue a Master’s or PhD abroad, often in the U.S., and eventually work for major tech giants. This shows that an IIT degree alone doesn’t guarantee a top job. Our education system could be improved to better prepare graduates for the job market.

I have studied from an IIT around 10 years ago and went to the US and worked there for some years before I came back. Reason = Family. No other reason could have brought me back, almost everything else was better there. I have talked other peers who have come back and for an overwhelming majority the primary reason was Family.
I am currently in my final year at IIT Bombay and I can vouch for the things Mohak said. Not only CSE but for all branches when you see all your professors having foreign PhDs and shitty life of PhD students at your institute, you're only left with option of going to the US. In jobs also, many Indian firms tell us upfront that they don't have requirement for such high talent and can't pay that much, so again only option is to get in foreign MNCs. Indian markets aren't mature enough to absorb the talent that IITs produce. Although we are not of fond of leaving our home land but high aspirations for career makes it a necessity. Now-a-days people think twice before leaving India and and many are ready to be here in hope of future progress.

also major misconception that western ideology and values(that were mostly born from the age of so-called enlightenment) were the reason that lead to innovation in western worlds, the answer is NO, the scientific revolution and later scientific discoveries by western academia were not cause of implementation of enlightenment ideals, u can research that, when indian read how people like james maxwell, charles darwin, richard feynman made discoveries, they think its cause of their ethics and values, u can research it on further, but i will provide a counterexample, soo, lol, how then discoveries happened in china, the golden age of islam, classical period of india(that is before the 5CE) , and even europe before latter half of 20th century(where modern values weren't present as mainstream), most of scientific discoveries we have today are from this period, i mean, during eras when societies were highly "rigid" as they call it, the discoveries shouldnt have happened according to "modern mindset".
also i say that indian culture(well it's pretty diverse because india doesnt have on culture but im talking bout the lowest common denominator among them) as it exists today i think was made for a time like centuries ago, not now, so i think they are outdated, and also our current culture has many influences from british colonial values so yea
I'm from IIT Gandhinagar, and I must say that you covered almost everything especially the broad domain options which IITians choose. 1) Job in IT Sector 2) MS/PhD outside India 3) MBA in IIM/XLRI/FMS/ISB or in the US 4) Startup 5)UPSC This covers mostly for CS domain, and as you have rightly mentioned as well so seems correct. To expand on this for core opportunities (which is lower is IITs as compared to the NITs as mostly core companies don't pay as well) hence core people also either pursue MS/PhD in the US or try to get into PSUs directly/through GATE. However for Electronics, the scenario is changing as more core companies are there due to the semiconductor boom, so it is becoming the new IT sector.

govt is spending so much money on IITians so they should work for the country for atleast 2 years
In 2004 75% of total IITians used to leave India.
The reason is immigration to US has become difficult with new entrants having no shot of getting green cards since the wait is so long.

Right absolutely right
Why they will not live India?

1) Job in IT Sector 2) MS/PhD outside India 3) MBA in IIM/XLRI/FMS/ISB or in the US 4) Startup 5)UPSC
This covers mostly for CS domain, and as you have rightly mentioned as well so seems correct.

Here is reason why people work in foreign - I got Rank 1 in my engineering. Currently, I work for a USA-based MNC, and the one and only reason is money. The same amount of work would give me only ₹25k/month in India, but a foreign company pays me five times that. The government doesn’t regulate Indian companies well, over work pay less (if you’re wondering why people leave the country). Sorry, but I definitely plan to work for India in the near future as an entrepreneur to contribute to the country's growth, I promise...
They pay you 5x but what is the cost of living there?
Thrice on a average
Will u pay 25k or 1lac to ur employees then?
Good living quality@@dreamaway2
@@sankkhamEven I got the question, but I guess NOT, because why would an entrepreneur look at anything other than profit?
