    Guitar Center is notorious for not including any of the paper work that comes with the guitar unless it has a bag or case.

    Jazz Master has the best all around the sound, especially the open notes and chords. Its a deep riff machine.
    The Jackson has really nice note definition which makes it the ideal soloing guitar. Which is why they compliment each other so well just like the players do to each other.

      @@richardrardin9156 your ears will mature later. If you pay close attention the boost makes the palm mutes more articulate and percussive/ more brutal. Also the sound is more saturated. People use overdrives with amps if the amp unboosted sounds too dry or the bass is too loose and not tight. If you ever need an overdrive to use with a loose amp use the maxon st9 pro+. The problem with most overdrives is that they simply cut the bass in order to make it tighter, but with the maxon it cuts the bass to tighten it but with the low boost switch that it has it brings back the lows that you lose when cutting but in a much tighter and brutal form. Run it on 18v mode for maximum power.

    My Jackson Pro soloist came with the manual, a real signed promotional poster type thing ( only about A5 sized) but it’s signed by Mick himself which is cool. It came with an Allen-key set but only one of them fit which was the truss rod adjustment one. The other two for the nut, bridge height and the string locks where both far too big so I had to find ones that fit in my tool box. No case either but I expected that, got it for around £750 from GuitarGuitar

    Great video! Very well done! I now this is an old video but I just got the JR Jazzmaster last Saturday, July 25th 2022. Right out of the box the guitar was set up perfectly for me. Everything looked fine and it played even better than I could have hoped for. That was until I went to bend the low E at the 1st fret and the string immediately popped out of the nut slot. I started looking at it real closely and it appeared that the nut slot for the low E was barely filed at all. By the 4th fret there were no issues at all, but that damn 1st fret, I could breath on the string and it would fall out. I took it to Sam Ash and the guy called 2 days later and said there was nothing wrong with the guitar at all. So I went and picked it up and asked some questions but I wasn't satisfied that this was normal as none of my other guitars that I have now or throughout my time as a player has ever had this issue. I thought at this price point, there should be nothing wrong with this guitar. Sent it back today and I will await the exchange. I can't imagine that Jim would think this was normal for a sig guitar of his lol.
    Okay I am so sorry for rambling... is it safe to assume that this was not a problem you encountered with the jazzmaster?

    • @TheBedroomGuitarist1
      @TheBedroomGuitarist1  2 года назад

      Well congrats on the guitar. No this was not my experience and I put thicker strings on it on the first day. I have had a similar problem on one of my custom shops so despite the manufacturing location it still does happen. I hope everything ends up okay on your exchange.

    Top review, mate! An interesting point was the guitar case! With so much cost cutting going on, to make a profit, even upper mid range or higher priced guitars are coming with just a carry bag. I wouldn't even bother with a guitar that didn't come with a case......once upon a time. These days even a PRS under 5 grand (Aussie dollars) comes with a bag. Good bag but still a bag.
    Once again, good review. You gave every example required perfectly! Cheers

    Gunna have to go with the Mick Thomson sig. Fast and tight sounding, good clarity on the low end. The Jim Root sig, looks cool, probably a little more versatile, but to me it sounded pretty muddy and dare i say even dull in comparison. But hey thats just me.

    • @fender7695
      @fender7695 Год назад

      It’s cuz emgs are grainy but cut through well. The mick blackouts (I have em). More versatile and great for cleans/warmth. Honestly they just sound great together. I prefer micks tone alone but prefer them both overall.

  • @sb632
    @sb632 4 года назад +12

    It's a tough choice between the 2. When you talk in a mix the fatter sound from the Jim root EMG's really helps fill out the guitar sound IMO vs the Mick Thomson. but the mick thompson clearly has that tightness you like for heavy chugs. When you did the clean tones in the bridge the soloist is by far better. When you did the neck cleans, i had a hard time deciding when you rolled the volume off on the jazzmaster. At that point it really cleaned up nicely. For me I honestly would take the Jim Root model but I'd immediately dump the EMG's for a set of Fishman's.

    Build the EMTY blackouts into the Jazzmaster and the EMG Daemonums into the SL2, perfect.
    The EMTYs sound best to my ear on the 5150 in distortion, the daemons more on the Friedman, but generally they are in different worlds, because you have different basic characteristics with both guitars, not only because of the pickups, but also through the whole concept.
    Nevertheless, they are both at home in the metal area, but generally suitable, whereby the EMGs distort more in the clean, but thanks to volume pots no issue.

  • @fender7695
    @fender7695 2 года назад +2

    Blackouts are the only actives I’ve ever liked and they’re better than almost every passive. That says everything. But the playability of Jim’s guitars is better than micks. Micks body, Jim’s bridge, Jim’s finger board, mick‘s headstock, mick‘s pickups. THAT would be the best metal guitar of all time. Any type of metal too.

    I worked at the U.S. Fender/Jackson company working on many of the guitars that left the factory. Matter of fact, I even worked in the Jackson custom shop. What I am tying to say is, are you aware that both guitars come from the literal same company; and dare I say, the literal same roof... At this point the only thing different is the name on the guitars. But the woods, and company that makes them are the exact same. Just food for thought.

      Woah that's crazy....I'm glad I'm able to ask someone like you something lol I hope you answer!
      Is the fender cheap humbuckers in the squiers like the same as the Jackson ceramic humbuckers that come in the Dinky js22/32 etc?
      Would u recommend a JS32 RHOADS over a HSS squier strat? For a beginner?
      Also considering a Ibanez grg121/131/221 OR
      Epi.Les Paul 100/LP Studio LE
      🤣
      SORRY BUT THATS MY LIST FOR POTENTIAL FIRST GUITARS.
      I'm saving up I mean why not get a decent first guitar , almost intermediate, but not bottom of the barrel ya know?
      I think a grg221 or the JS32 Rhoads or the Les Paul Studio Epiphone is what I'm gonna choose from, the $250 range for sure.....then I'm planning on an Orange Crush 20w amp or Marshall/Blackstar equivalent, but that Orange has the tuner n metronome built in (the RT version at least) and I can get it for like $90 used in great shape from G.C./Reverb!

    • @TheNathanx13
      @TheNathanx13 2 года назад +1

      @@richardrardin9156 Very long message lol
      I would always avoid the Squire under 300. What matters most of all is the wood of the body. If it's between the Jackson or Squire, I would probably go with the Jackson. As for the pick-ups, I didn't work on low grade guitar personally, but from what I have seen, they are different pick-ups.
      Between your options, I would probably go with the Epiphone Studio provided it's a set neck. If your looking for a strat single pickup sound then I would go with a Mexican fender strat or even a Tagima. They are very solid guitars and can be easily upgraded. If your in so Cal, go to KYR music in Chino to try them out. The Ibanez is a decent guitar for the price, but I would look to spend a little more for a better quality. The Epiphone may be worth the bang for the buck. This is not to be mistaken for a Gibson however....
      Amps, I would say the Black star or Boss Katana is a really good amp. Orange is good, but not bellow a 30w. Hope this helps.

    My favorite part on the Jackson Mick Thomson model is those Side Position Marker Rectangular Inlays. Mick was with Ibanez for 12 years and those same inlays could be seen on his personal guitars. Never once did Ibanez make that available on his artist model sold to the public. I wrote Ibanez a couple of times when he was with them and offered to pay extra to have one built for me and they replied with "Those inlays just for artist."

    • @TheBedroomGuitarist1
      @TheBedroomGuitarist1  Год назад +1

      That highlights a really good point. Same thing happened to Chris Broderick switching from Ibanez to Jackson; you hear him call Jackson "the company that could." And the unique features of his guitar are commercially available as well. There are many examples of LA custom shop guitars and/or features being only available for artists which is a real shame.

      The situation was, the guitar was sold out online for the major US retailers but the Las Vegas GC still had a floor model. I could defend GC and say they are still the most abundant/convenient brick and mortar music store across the US; however, it is my opinion they are getting increasingly sloppy especially for the specialty items. I just wish I lived closer to the boutique guitar shops that keep me coming back with their inventory and customer service.

    Why mick's guitar look so big to this guy meanwhile the guitar look so small when mick hold it?

    • @kjtodd8682
      @kjtodd8682 3 года назад

      It’s because Mick is 6”4 or something like that. It looks small on him because he is so big.
