Hugs and love to you both, to Ranger, and I'm truly sorry for your loss. What a great photo! He looks like a warm hearted man who had a good sense of humor. Getting out on the water was a healthy thing for you guys. Thank you for the video. I've missed you.
Thank you for your kind words 💕, it did feel nice to get out and breathe again. To be where the stress is less. Derek’s dad was such a warm hearted man! Soft spoken and we wish we had more years with him 🥲. Grief is so hard and we all have to go through it in life. Hugs from us and a lick from Ranger
Love the video of your icy spring venture👍. We have experienced spring time ice on Lakelse, and on the Skeena, but never on the ocean. Hats off to you and your bravery for doing some icebreaking with the beautiful Skookum. Also loved the LNG info Derek, was very impressive stuff for sure.
Thanks Tom! Yeah we are crazy. We take the boat all year. No matter what weather hahah. Icebreaker lol. Prob takes off some algae and scum off the bottom of our boat hahah!
@@MVSKOOKUM1 lol actually there is a good chance that the wife and I might be up that way in Aug. to do some salmon fishing on the Nass river up by Aiyanish north of Terrace. I have been fishing up that way for the last 35 years off and on. I've been up to Stewart and Hyder a few times and got hyderized as they ...lol then stop back in Stewart for king crab legs. But I've never been to Prince Rupert., So we might have to get in touch with you guys and have a beer if we make it out that way. It's about a 18 to 20 hr drive from Edmonton....anyways take care and we shall speak again...DOUG
Oh nice! Some river fishing! I have never been hyderized yet lol. I don’t want to be sick lol hahaha. Yeah we will be around in August. Kitimat is about a 40 min drive from Terrace 😀
Thanks Mark 🙏, Yeah Ranger was quite happy to get back on the ocean. He gets so excited he whines in the background. You prob hear him in the videos lol. Hahaha
Yes he paces back and forth on that swim grid waiting to hear that rod make a noise. He reacts and goes crazy lol. Sometimes he tricks me. He acts like something is on and I bring it up and nothing hahah. He just listens and even watches. Amazing boat dog

Yes Derek will find out more about these huge modules! Amazing how they move them around and unload them. I know there are some videos on RUclips if u search LNG MODULES in the search bar!
Hi Derek and Jennifer. Love your channel. We are looking at a N47 . You mentioned you are looking at solar panels for the boat sometime in the future. Have you sourced it out yet ? Amperage needs and $$$. When you are on the hook , how long are you able to stay without powering up your generator . If you are down Sidney BC way, give us a heads up and we’ll show you around. Kevin & Sandy
Hello! We haven’t had a chance to look into solar panels just yet. We have to update our electronics soon. They are out of date. So that will be our next purchase in the future. Derek is talking about changing to lithium battery’s too as he’s done some research. $$$. Lol. Right now we can sit on anchor for 18 hours without starting our big generator. But we run a smaller generator we plug into the boat and that helps our batteries from draining and it can charge the batteries too. It’s more fuel efficient than running the big genny ! It would be nice to meet you! If we come down that way again we will reach out ☺️☺️☺️. ⚓️⚓️Jen
The LNG plant is amazing, the entire process and construction of it here in Kitimat. It’s brought a lot of new families here too! When Derek and I have time we can possibly do a little video of the plant from the ocean.
Have you heard if we can still use that style of float as a rope holder but include a cylinder shape red/white float to identify that it is a crab trap down there?
That’s what we want to do too! Lol. Derek mentioned that and I can’t see why we can’t. If fisheries wants the red/ white cone cylinder one seen then why can’t the other float can be right beside it? Lol. Jen.
😀. Yes taking care of our boat and our small 3 bedroom Rancher, going back and forth would be a good one! Oneday we will sell our little house and liveaboard but we both work mon and Friday and not ready to just liveaboard yet. Hoping in the next 2-3 years we can
@@MVSKOOKUM1 we’ve been chartering in the PNW for the last 13 years and are only 1 1/2 years from our youngest graduating then….. anchors away and we’ll moving back to the Whidbey Island area where I grew up to find our trawler to liveaboard. Here’s to dreaming big 🍻
Oh wow 1.5 years to go until empty nest? Between Derek and I we have 5 kids! The last child moved out in 2016 We’ve been empty nesters for almost 7 years. Wow I feel old! I’m going to look up Whidbey island
Hey Ron 😊😊Some of the modules are 35 meters in height and weigh 4200 tons! They are sitting on large self propelled modular transporters. They slowly move the module along the project sites haul toad that is 3km long! The modular is then placed on a foundation . Amazing isn’t it. And like Derek said it’s put on within millimeters of the foundation .
Gotta love that whole globalism scheme! Building that one LNG compressor in N. America could have created many good paying jobs for Canada and the US!!
We use these special remote control vehicles called called Spmt’s (Self Propelled Modular Transporters) that move under under the modules and jack them up, then "drive" them to their final position.
The reason why we use the anchor bridle it’s because it takes the heavy load off our windlass and the anchor roller too. The bridle connects to the chain and is tied to both bow cleats on the starboard and port side. We will have to make a video clip of how Derek does it. We find it also takes a lot of noise away from the anchor rattling around when we are sleeping at night ☺️. Jen
On the Nordhavn website we registered and gave all of our information, there is a pennant program we signed up for. We like to enter our nautical miles in at the end of every year and then we receive flags 🥰
Sorry for your loss, love your channel from down in North Florida we’re it’s cool not very cold but did have some low 20degree Fahrenheit. I’ll ask you instead of google what’s difference from LNG and propane ?
LNG is a natural gas in its liquid state after being chilled to -160 degrees! It’s 1/600th of its original volume. Propane is made up of different gases. They are both similar just different in some aspects. Propane is highly flammable but affordable and readily available. LNG is safe to transport and store and it’s non pressurized. Lng is non toxic which makes its eco friendly. We read it’s non corrosive too 😀. Jen
That is one big ship! Wow!😯😯👍👍

Hahah good one!! 🤣 👍👍👍

Hi no it’s not, we wish! Lol. We have a 10 foot inflatable rigid hull Oneday. Maybe oneday we can get a bullfrog dingy lol
I’d love to find out how they get the modules off the ship
Hey Tim we found some info we searched LNG modules in the RUclips search bar! Wow it’s amazing!

Well done on the 10,000NM, love following you guys. A question, how does the bridle work and why do you use it.
The reason why we use the anchor bridle it’s because it takes the heavy load off our windlass and the anchor roller too.
