Had mine a year this month. There's a reason I got this as my first car. No regrets at all. Still hop in this thing and it'll make me smile the same way it did the day I bought it
It really is true that it's not until you drive one you understand why people love them so much. Back in February I was looking for a car to replace my Fabia VRS with and I had my heart absolutely set on the Clio RS because they made the most power from factory of all the warm hatches I was looking at. I took a Guilietta for a test drive and found it soulness, took an abarth 595 and wasn't impressed either, and I'd driven a Clio before so knew what they were like. Just for fun I decided to take an ST for a drive because I'd heard how much everyone loves them and this one, despite being at a car yard, I was able to ask the previous owner its history (also found out its name was Stella, which I thought was so sweet that she had a name) and it was a little mountune 215 fiesta, so I took her for a run out of curiousity.....I came home with a Fiesta that afternoon and have adored Stella ever since, these things are brilliant and having 215hp is the perfect amount for these little things, I dont think the big mountune kits would be anywhere near as fun
I'm in my 40s and bought one as weekend B Road basher. I've had it over a year and still makes me smile every time I drive it. I've added a Revo Stage 1 and Scorpion exhaust. They both enhance the fun without being to 'asbo' The security is an obvious issue. I'd say a Disklok at the very minimum. I bought mine with a Ghost immobiliser already fitted. So that was a bonus. The ridiculous thing is that the MK8s are every bit as stolen. Ford have done nothing to address the issues. Anyone who scoffs at the BHP etc has never driven one. Just a genuine 'fun' car.
What a brilliant review of ST... It's so accurate, so precise, with so right emotions. Nothing extra just the right words. I'm 37 and I thought I may be too old for this... But I've bought it a couple of days ago and I'm SO amazed of this car! It's a real master piece. And you should know man: your video is deffinitely the best one despite the number of views! Only Top Gear's one is something similar to yours:)
I've owned mine for 4 years now. Same colour as yours! Even after 4 years I still absolutely love it and don't plan on selling it (if ever). The best car I've ever owned (out of 7).
What a great video, and I totally agree with you. I am a much older driver and have been lucky to own some nice cars in my driving journey. But in 2016 I bought the fiesta ST new and still have it and still love it just as much as on that first day of collecting it from the dealership. Yes, I have heavily modified it using Mountune parts, but I was always going to do that and have enjoyed every single one. But it's the base car that makes it what it is - like you said throughout the video, it's just great. I don't have a second car, never needed one, and I have decided to keep this until we are forced to run electric. Like you, I knew I was going to get one the moment I started noticing them on the road and I made the change from an E46 M3 convertible lol It's fun, reliable, relatively cheap and on the motorway if I am careful can get upto 60 mpg which is insane. I always drive with the windows open to hear the exhaust soundtrack and it still brings a smile to my face after more than 7 years of ownership. Its defo the best car I have ever owned 👍
Yank here, and my story is the same, right down to the mountune go fast bits. Just can't beat this car for the money. I'll keep it as long as I can fuel it.
I remember the press going bonkers for this car when it came out. Ford Performance built this car from a well-known chassis that they raced, and they nailed it. The Focus ST is bigger, but it just doesn't have the handling chops of the mighty little FiST. It corners like a sports car. A FWD sports car, but a truly sporty car. It's like all the stars aligned for a brief moment: It's reliable, practical, decent on fuel and fun to drive. It's already a cult car. Expect clean examples to hold their value.
Great video and I completely agree with everything you say. Bought myself a low mileage mint 2016 ST-3 earlier this year and love love love it! It feels absolutly spot on to drive and is evrything I want in a car. I'm keeping it totally stock and looking after it as it's gotta last because they're stopping making cars I want to buy. Had a Polo GTI and Swift Sport on my shortlist but the ST was the first one I test drove and I realised no other car would better it so didn't bother test driving the others and looked round for the right ST. If your priority is to have as close as you can get to a modern 'proper' drivers car then buy one - you won't regret it!
Snap! Traded in my Fiesta S on a 63 plate with 63,000 miles clocked for a black ST3, 66 plate with a mere 21,000 miles. 100% factory standard. Pristine. Had her exactly one year this January & no complaints just grins on me boat. She even manages 40mpg! Booked her in for her first full service in my ownership tomorrow along with her MOT. Nice knowing we're both happy bunnies.
Yup you summed up its appeal. Ive had one 7 years. Love it. Its OK for longer trips too. You really notice how firm a ride and immediate everything is when you drive something else. Just a great all rounder with extra fun and power ie a great hot hatch.
Couldn’t agree more this car is such a blast to drive I recently purchased one 2 months ago and this is my face to date every time I’m behind the wheel😁😆
Some old dude wrote my stage 2 Audi a1 off last week pulled into my lane without looking. Hopefully I’m picking one of these today mountune 215 2016 with 50k on the clock. Can’t wait
I love how chuffed you are at the end mate 😄 I had a 14 plate Spirit Blue from new, I still have very fond memories of it with the way it drove and sounded with a decent catback exhaust - I currently have the latest Mk8.5 ST and I'd say there are some things that make the Mk7.5 better in areas, but I think in their own rights, all the Fiesta ST models are their own driving experience, they're all very fun to drive. Awesome review video 👏😎
Thinking about trading in my 2010 Seat Leon Cupra R for a st mk7.5. Feel like it'a not a downgrade from the Cupra because of the handling of the st. Only downgrade is the horsepower but I feel like how the ST drives will compensate that!
@@intunewithcars9484 Been driving the st 180 for 4 months now and I can say I am surprised with how much fun the st is. Cupra had more than 210k km's and my turbo was about to give up. And I bought my first house so that is why I decided to buy the st180, it's slower on the straights but so much more fun in the corners
McLaren chassi alignment, Lancer Evolution steering, BMW M division turbo engines character and Honda gearbox on a practical and affordable package dressed as a Fiesta, how lucky are we?

Brilliant cars. Had mine over 5 years now and it still doesn’t half put a smile on my face when you take it down some back roads.
This gave me the most insane OG Top Gear flashbacks. My heart is happy. Thank you.
