Thanks for this posting. Joe was my teacher for 3 years, and I channel him regularly. Fun to see/hear all the master's old tricks. I'm about half way through, haven't seen the old blowing-out-a-match from a meter away yet. He filed my teeth as well.
I'm watching parts of this tonight. I'm taking notes tomorrow when I re-watch it. Thank you so much for sharing! I wish I could have lived during that time and take a lesson with him. So valuable.

Bogdan Gumenyuk yes. It is taught by most people who teach yoga. In the fifties and early sixties in the US, the period I was talking about it was unheard of. Basically in through your nose, use your diaphragm and exhale through pursed lips ( an embrachure). Focus your mind on controlling your breathing. Back straight and all that. I believe this to be basic yoga stuff. Joe also insisted that all music was singing. You had to find your own voice in your instrument.

Although you are correct to notice a difference between the musical training for jazz and the musical training for classical performance, the view you express here is superficial, over-simplified, and incorrect. You sensed a difference and tried to put it into words but you didn't think enough about whether the first words you came up with really were the right labels. They weren't. You were smart enough to find someone to teach you your instrument, and music. Now go do the same thing to learn to really think. That's the real super-power in life, and you have to search it out.

I admired some of the classical composer BUT THOSE WHO JUST READ MUSIC HAVE NO CREATIVITY, IDEAS,PASSION
