    I also studied with the master, Joe Allard. As did my brother and my father. The way he explained the positioning of the tongue was to say the word “your”. This puts your tongue up, touching the inside of your upper teeth. This avoids the problem that dropping your tongue causes which is stopping the movement of the larynx, which is crucial to being able to play in tune.
