- After some research into this shot, it seems as though it was created by retired Egyptian squash pro, Hisham Ashour, the older brother of squash legend Ramy Ashour.
This video features Alex from Control the 'T' Sports demonstrating the shot into each front corner from a figure of 8 routine drill. The Mizuki basically involves twisting your racquet round just before striking the ball to essentially play a forehand shot from a backhand swing.
Great shot.
Nothing better than hitting a mizuki into the nick!
If you have an opponent on the court who watches out to you, he will see on your movement what you are up to and will start running to catch the ball.
That's always true. But the mizuki is so unexpected that the first time you try it in a match, it's sure to catch your opponent by surprise. If you try it again, maybe not :P but you've given your opponent another thing to think about!
@@bproshekThank you! I like learning from those who already can what I can't yet. I will keep in mind how this surprising shot is called and once I get back to squash, I will try to learn it. But I am in the very beginnig yet as I had to stop due to unfortunate circumstances.
@@muliczakatalin8247 if you're a beginner, it's probably to concentrate on learning the fundamental shots first before learning the trick shots :D Good luck on your squash journey!
@@bproshek it's probably wise to focus on what my teacher sais, once I get back my life and can continue learning. And my teachers sais, if I want to improve, I have to start playing matches.
@@muliczakatalin8247timing wise the person will be behind them and struggle to pick up any shot that's played to the front so the mizuki done well will win most of the time. To get better I'd recommend solos than routines and last match play. The first 2 get you better faster
Could the mizuki be used in other raquet games
It would probably do nothing for you in racquetball, any shot that you could hit with this swing would be better hit 6" off the ground for a kill.
Is this squash?
Yes
Played by humans, on planet Earth.
who would have thought squash is played on planet earth? the BBC defo don't know what squash is......bbc are in to football more football and a it more football, and if you are board some Rugby, cricket and a little golf; then we have two weeks of bloody tennis, people sitting around eating a bananas and then when they feel like hit a ball in to a net and try again.@@kennyg1358
