Thank you for the video. I train like a madman so I can get to a high level in squash. The basic fundamentals will always be important to me, this video serves as a good reminder for myself.
Thank you Zoe. I have access to a squash court, but no coaches. So these videos were really helpful. Getting better now but using these learnings and playing with other players. Thank you.
Great vid I hope u didn't stop, keep creating squash community needs more creators.... But only 2 or 3 tips for u if u r interested In the forehand try to focus on the follow through bc u stop the swing in middle so u need a lot of power to get the right length, second thing in the backhand u should try using ur shoulder more to get more power, these things would save much power and make it easier for u, best wishes ✌️
great video, congrats. I used to be a player in German national team when I was much younger, trainer for men in different liguaes and single persons. Had a lot of trainers from Pakistan and Australia. Great - best - sports for sure but be aware of consequences for your health in later years. Please do not over exercise.
What do you mean when you say that “consequences for your health?” I’m a beginner at squash and I’m 30 years old, is there a possibility having a bad damage on the knees or something like that?
@@HilalGungorr yes, definitely. Well, I was 11 years old when I started squash in 1979. This is of course centuries ago... but I have real damages from it on knees and right shoulder. You have to consider to practise also the other muscles and get some kind of compensation in order to stay poised with the rest of your body. Squash is cool definitely, fun and more than efficient but hard for the body if you do not look for enough compensation within it. Nevertheless, enjoy it! Take care for the whole body.
I also like to do cross court drops from the back court, as well as back court straight drops, plus straight vollies into cross court nick smashes. Practicing to hit the nick is essential
These look great, heading out shortly to try these out. How often would you say is recommended to drill solo? I play twice a week at the mo and feel like this would be useful to add on top of the games? Thanks!
Get on court and have fun! I'd also suggest getting a few coaching lessons to start out so that you can learn good technique and movement from the start
Hi, My name is kamran.I am from Pakistan. I am squash player I have played squash for one years , how can I improve my game in less time , I want to be a professional player in future ,
I don't think the drop shot should be practice that way. From my point of view the ball must find the side wall after bouncing on the floor, so the opponent can't take it out. It's not about don't getting the ball, it's about been impossible to get it up. Let me know what you think. Thanks anyway for what you does, this helps sport a lot.
Hey , i just started playing squash 3 months ago and i am trying to get better so here i am . I really like the drill and i will be doing them , but how do i apply these mid game , for example the butterflies .
You wouldn't actually do a butterfly during the game. It's just practice to have your body quick to react based on muscle memory. I think the main point of the butterfly is using forehand and backhand swings immediately one after another. Which is nice because you don't know where the ball's gonna go and what position ur body is in currently.
The hotter the ball the bouncier it gets, so definitely important to warm the ball up. I do live in QLD, Australia so it is very warm here which helps keep the ball warm
How do u keep maintaining ur form during straight drives ; I keep mishitting and its pretty frustrating, and then before I know it I am not standing in the right place any more :(
Hi Zoe, I am a beginner, and I have a terrible backhand, and can barely volley. Does it get better with time and practice, using these solo drills, or is there something else I can do?
They will get better with time and practice and these drills will definitely help too! Making sure you have the correct grip and technique helps too :)
Take power off your shot. Focus on accuracy rather than power. Which means to hit the ball higher up the front wall, for now. Nice slow swings to start
Nice work and good form. I would encourage the viewers not to break their wrist on the backhand as that is a common mistake, along with ensuring they have an open grip on the forehand to despite how odd it might feel to them. Maybe you could do a video just on that subject. G'day! :)
One of the best Squash tutorials I've come across on RUclips
Thanks this will help as I am just getting back into the game after 20years not playing. great tips to practice.
Very simple and useful drills. Thank you.

Hi Zoe, could you please kindly give us some advice regarding playing with a green dot squash ball. Thank you so much in advance!!
Thanks for showing these techniques, I am new to squash and learning , very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Just curious which ball you would recommend for a beginner. Is double dot (yellow) a good ball.
Get a blue dot for a beginner (or it might be a white dot depends on where you are) double yellow is for very advanced players 😀
Awesome 👌 you are easy to follow
Thank 😊 you

Thanks!
Once or twice per week 😊
Helpful!
Great video.
Thank you🏆
Great Zoe , I want to start on this sport, what is your first recomendation for a begginer ?
Get on court and have fun! I'd also suggest getting a few coaching lessons to start out so that you can learn good technique and movement from the start
You would not believe how many awful videos I watched until I found you! Thank you so much!

You should
You'll love it for sure.
which racket you are using?
Beautiful
Thank you for the video. Which ball would you recommend using for these solo drills?
Whatever ball you normally play matches with, most common is double yellow dot :)
Thanks. Yes double yellow it is!
I have a little problem in making the forhand and backhand fast
Are you trying to hit the ball too hard?
@@zoeaust_ yes I’m trying to make it higher ever time but I can’t
@@edviscut1228 make sure your racquet face is open 😊

There’s multiple ways to practice. This drop drill is more about transferring weight front back leg to front leg

Nice Video!!,
Hi *ZOE* You make this look so easy! The ball is so bouncy : are you based in a hot climate or perhaps at a club that is very well heated ?
a secret to a 'bouncy ball' is hitting it with a strong arm right in the middle of the racket 'sweet spot'. air temp makes no difference
The hotter the ball the bouncier it gets, so definitely important to warm the ball up. I do live in QLD, Australia so it is very warm here which helps keep the ball warm
@@zoeaust_ ah, that explains it, thanks. And thanks for a great drill video 👍🏻
Hi your skin is beautiful, what is your skin routine to clear acne i have oily skin and suffering here
Oh wow, thank you! I've struggled with my skin for years. My favourite products are hyaluronic acid and niacinamide + zinc from the ordinary :)
Wow great video 👍🤩
Thank you 🤗
hi zoe, what type squash ball that is recommended for solo squash drill? is it double dot yellow?
I use a double yellow dot, but use whatever you normally play with :)
Is this the same racket used in tennis?
Nope, different 😊
How do u keep maintaining ur form during straight drives ; I keep mishitting and its pretty frustrating, and then before I know it I am not standing in the right place any more :(
Keep practicing! It comes with consistency :)

what ball type do you use?
Dunlop double yellow dot 😊
