yeah because they spent millions in contracting third party security services such as allied services to stand and make sure no one hopped the turnstile, and millions more posting national guard and police to just stand on their phones collecting overtime. when the annual losses to fare evasion was something like 500k. makes sense. also people don’t hop the train style when they’re broke and the service is worth paying for. if someone’s broke af why would they pay for a service that only gets worse and worse and asks for more of their hard earned dollars? the root of all these issues is poverty and properly allocating the funds the millions could go into cleaning the stations themselves which would justify its price point
This is such a liberal logic response to solving crime. Instead of keeping criminals locked up, they're gonna put the national guard on the subway. But then as soon as they're gone the crime will resume?!?! And they can't be deployed forever.
They can be deployed as long as the politicians find the money. The Governor is the boss of the NY National Guard unless the US President needs them for a national crisis.
In addition to the failed leadership of the NYS Governor and NYC Mayor, politicizing the criminal justice system, courts, DA's office and Judges is a central part of the problem facing not just the subway but the entire City and State.
Not to mention the way they all criticized him for wanting nat’l guard at the capital on J6 ‘21. yeah because they spent millions in contracting third party security services such as allied services to stand and make sure no one hopped the turnstile, and millions more posting national guard and police to just stand on their phones collecting overtime. when the annual losses to fare evasion was something like 500k. makes sense. also people don’t hop the train style when they’re broke and the service is worth paying for. if someone’s broke af why would they pay for a service that only gets worse and worse and asks for more of their hard earned dollars? the root of all these issues is poverty and properly allocating the funds the millions could go into cleaning the stations themselves which would justify its price point
3 dollars metro trip is crazy in my city metro trip costs 60 cents usa
This is such a liberal logic response to solving crime. Instead of keeping criminals locked up, they're gonna put the national guard on the subway. But then as soon as they're gone the crime will resume?!?! And they can't be deployed forever.
