They have to work back and find out if this was a single attacker or a group. They have hundreds of interviews to conduct and video to review from cellphones and business cameras. The attackers home, etc have to be searched as well as their online presence. With all these moving parts it’s better to hold off on information. If the attacker isn’t working alone an announcement could make finding conspirators difficult.
