I built this homemade wall mounted clamping system for 50 dollars. I have some larger projects i need to tackle in my wood working shop and having a cheap compact and easy to store clamping system made perfect sense. Using construction grade material to build this system and it worked out great. if you want to build one for yourself there are plans linked below.

With a couple of minor mods, this would be an awesome artist’s easel! It just needs sliding blocks at the top, so that you could clamp various sized easels-FROM THE INSIDE-of the canvas stretchers.

Just a note to say thanks for the inspiration you've given me on wood working. I've taken that inspiration and came up with a tiny, simple horizontal sawmill that actually works!! Thanks again.

Izzy, while I do not need a dedicated clamping area, you gave me a great idea for a place to cut down sheet goods.

  • @davidnicholas7624

Wow!! Instead of screwing blocks in place, how about drilling a series of holes and using bolts and wing nuts so the blocks can be re positioned for different jobs? Thanks for the great inspiration.

  • @NeilDewar

Excellent design idea, thanks Izzy! Tough to implement without the CNC, but you've inspired me to adapt the design for a frame in my garage to hold sheet goods while I cut them down (my workshop is upstairs so I have to cut a 4'x8' panel down before it goes into the shop). What's held me back to date is that I would lose a whole wall in the garage, but with the sliding struts resting on a shelf I can always position 2 struts either side of any vertical cut, and I get my wall back when I'm done!

To me...the best aspect of this was that the shelf puts enough tip to the clamps that the pieces don't fall off before the pressure is applied, and, more impressively cool, you didn't even have to clear all the shelf contents to use it - ;>)

@@ScubaDude68 My first image is hitting the garage door open button and then having a bunch of arms to the jig came crashing down on top of my head. But upon further thought, those arms could be secured so they stay next to garage door somehow. Will give that some thought!
