- Yes this is a long and repetitive video. This crankcase bottom lower end engine motor transmission rebuild how to diy assembly is not the simplest thing in the world (especially for a newbie.) This video is more for the new guy or someone sorely afraid to dive in to the bottom of his dirtbike engine. So, take this info as you will. This is not necessarily how you would install the transmission as per your service manual. This was more to help you understand the ins and outs of this rather complicated assembly. Because, if you understand how it operates, you can easier disassemble and assemble it even if all the parts were scattered all over your shop. Transmission, gears, cogs, main axle, drive axle, Shift Cam, Shift Forks, etc.

Make sure you refer to your service manual for exact assembly if yours is not a 1999-2021 YZ250 YZ250X as shown in the video.

Super helpful I've only ever done hondas and suzuki's. The Yamaha shift forks being attached to the shafts threw me for a loop on re assembly
I'm going to have to use my own video if ever I have to do this task again. lol

I have a 2001 YZ 250. Took it for a very calm ride in the neighborhood to warm it up for an oil change. Brought it back dropped the oil and noticed a little milky oil. No big deal so I ordered the water pump replacement parts, but while all this was about to go down. The bike will not shift. It is locked in gear for some reason. Any suggestions as to why? I have watched your videos and will keep them saved. Great videos and very easy to follow. I am very mechanically savvy and want to fix this myself, I just don't know what is wrong.
Do what you see in the video and inspect the obvious that prevents proper gear shifting.

And did it just start doing this all of the sudden? Might just want to take a heavy plastic hammer or large rubber mallot and just HIT the engine case and see what happens... lol
my bike turns over but wont go into gear i was just running the bike up and down the street and all of a sudden i had 5 neutrals wasnt even pushing it past 3rd gear
Well, time to take it to your mechanic and investigate. I'm sure the bottom-end is due for a rebuild anyway.

Good day. Anyone experiencing on your yz 250.
I've got an issue on my yz250 when my bike is running on 2nd gear it goes back to neutral gear. I dont know whats the problem.
It means you need to have a mechanic open up the bottom end of the engine and inspect the transmission for wear, broken parts, issues. There is no quick or easy little fix.
what would keep it from shifting into fourt gear its ruff.
Gotta get into the transmission and investigate it.

No. Only the videos you see on my channel. Several of this bike.
I mean, my video MIGHT be sorta similar for a YZ250F, but not exactly. If you broke something insde your transmission, you need to remove everything you see and inspect everything relating to the transmission. Not a fun task. A professional mechanic will make short work of it. I'd rather do that.

@@HorsepowerHouse I have 6 times everything is smooth it makes no sense. I’ve done this on many bikes but this one got me. I got 1st2nd3rd4th5th I’m missing something small just don’t wanna spend 300$ on something that takes 5 minutes
