The reason the tiger and lion exhibits are currently like that is because in 2007 some boys were throwing sticks and pine cones and antagonizing one of the tigers which then jumped the almost 13 feet straight up the wall and killed one of the boys. The other two were injured as well but survived. It was later discovered that all 3 were under the influence of alcohol and marijuana and had been taunting other zoo animals before hand.
Nice tour and review as always, If you ever have to drive through Central California I suggest you visit the Fresno Chafee Zoo, A lot of improvements have been made in the last 11 years and they have a terrific African Exhibit, Sea Lion Exhibit, and Rainforest Exhibit.
Beautiful area, but cold as heck. Actually across the street from the open ocean. Really nicer for both animals and people on the few warmer days of the year. Zoo's in general are suffering financially hence lack of regular upgrading. Would be nice if most combined with rescue and research rather than just display.
Try visiting the Oakland Zoo! Plus, you might want to read some information about Silent Knight, Bahasa, & Jahari, who passed away many months ago! Leaping Sinornithosaurus!🦁
Anybody who lives in San Francisco and want more Dreamworks animal led films with animals they see at San Francisco Zoo, go apply for Dreamworks Animation Studio and convince them to make a subsidiary that can only produce animal led films and include previous films like Antz, Chicken Run, Spirit films, Shark Tale, Madagascar franchise films, Over the Hedge, Flushed Away, Bee Movie, Kung Fu Panda films, Turbo, and Bad Guys.
Here are films that should happen in the future: A Northeast Africa film with a lion character who is a spiritual wanderer. A film in West Africa with a Chimpanzee character. Kung Fu Panda 5 with Po as a spiritual leader and teacher and Bao is an adolescent and will become the next Kung Fu Panda, then a great niece of Shifu, and a nice relative of Tai Lung. A film in the Indian Subcontinent with a character based on the Indian Rhino. A film in Australia with a character based on a Koala. A film in East Africa with a female giraffe character. A Madagascar lemur solo film that will take place in the early years of King Julien. A film in Central Africa with a Lowland Gorilla character. A film in Maritime Southeast Asia with a character based on a Komodo Dragon.
I think the San Francisco Zoo should have a different carousel which is an endangered species carousel with lots of different endangered animal species from around the world including elephants, giraffes, zebras, African crowned cranes, ostriches, gorillas, penguins, otters, hippos, rhinos, snow leopards, kangaroos, emus, American black bears, wolverines, gray wolves, red wolves, tigers, lions, grizzly bears, kinkajous, sloths, toucans, peccaries, giant anteaters, llamas, chimpanzees, ruffed lemurs, flamingos, red pandas, sea lions, koalas, bongo antelope, mandrills, baboons, ring-tailed lemurs, fossas, jaguars, crocodiles, polar bears, American bison, Mongolian wild horses, etc.!

Thanks for that information
If you ever get to San Diego again you should do the safari park. They recently added a walkthrough Australia section that is stunning

Also, a black and white ruff lemur will be in the lemur solo film.
Brookfield Zoo in illinois is my favorite by far spent 12 years of my life going there
Who else is here in quarantine school?
Giraffes are my favorite
I haven't seen the San Francisco zoo since the early 70s. It was nowhere near as nice as this back then, by my memory. Concrete and bars.

Half of those aren't endangered. Besides, we need room for more humans. :^)
aMondayMorning Seriously? A better carousel would be perfect for the zoo with so many different animals for visitors to ride on!
you forgot the indian rhinoceros!!!!!!
Al guíen más viene por la escuela?
The hippos name is Bruice
