Don't call it a comeback :My social media return and why you shouldn't listen to "influencers"

  • it's been three years since I've posted. Along with job changes I've become more and more disenfranchised by the social media experience and the new wave of "influencers". Here's what I've been up to and what the future of this channel looks like.
    Happy Birthday, America! 🇺🇲

So glad to see you back! Truly do value your content! As far as future content is concerned, anything related to mindset, tactics, skills, and drills would be fantastic. Your reviews were always great as well, but I totally get where you're coming from on trying to keep up with all that. I'd still be interested in hearing what guns, equipment, etc. you personally use that have proven valuable to YOU, and why that's the case. Your knowledge/experience/genuineness is a breath of fresh air, and I always love to hear your perspective!

Glad to see you back sir! I know that your video on the Gen 4 G19 FS sped up my acquiring one by 6 months, and your video on the CZ P-07 got me to jump back on to that platform for DA/SA.
You have a lot of great experience, militarily, law enforcement, and in teaching. My experience mirrors yours, but to a smaller scale. Your take on the influencer culture is spot on. The people who have NOT been there and NOT done that have the most to say. Stay the quiet professional!
My thoughts, as to direct your channel, though you already mentioned these:
1.) Do SOME gun reviews, but guns that you like, maybe even update reviews you did of certain guns from 3-5 years ago.
2.) Mindset and tactics. You have the background and training.
3.) Competition, as you do this, let your viewers grow with you in your success and failures. I’m in my mid 50’s, and though I’ve dabbled with competition, I decided to get more serious and start the climb in USPSA, likely in limited optics.
4.) More pro 2A content. I think 2A stewardship is lacking in the gun community. Most of us fully understand 2A rights, but when more than a few gun owners get presented with 2A Responsibilities they start coughing up fur balls. I’ll get slightly controversial, but as a person that has invested more than average time and treasure to be proficient, don’t tell me you can’t afford to take your 8 hour concealed handgun class, AND spend $500 on a weekend training course, (say basic/combat/tactical handgun 1),to become more proficient, and acquire some baseline training, but then show off your brand new $2500 Staccato P DPO with a $500 Trijicon RMR, and a $300 Surefire X300 mounted to it. Investing in real training with your firearms is THE 2A responsibility piece!
Okay rant off, but you see what I mean. You have a lot to offer. Look forward to your future content!😎✌️🇺🇸

One thing I would really appreciate would be your opinion on a civilian plate carrier setup. Having never used one or having any experience, there’s a lot of info out there and it gets pretty muddy if you don’t have any idea what to look for. The different materials for the plates, the various carrier setups, etc. I’m interested in just a simple carrier in case of a home invasion, or maybe one to throw in my car in case of a crazy person in a public place.

I'd say, make videos about guns/tactics/topics that interest you. For me personally, as you might assume, I was drawn to your channel for the opinions on different guns. However if you feel like you want to take the channel in a different direction, that would be your choice. Honestly, I'm kindof at the point where I've bought into the p320 platform and I'm trying to 'ween' myself off the p365. I simply don't have a very practical reason to do anything else except stock up on p320 mags and maybe experiment with different grips, optics, and carry positions. Whether concealed or open, It's going to be a p320. I simply cannot wrap my head around people who own 10 different handguns, all with proprietary magazines. I hope I don't have to explain why that's not as practical as committing to 1 mag pattern and pistol platform, but hey. Same for rifles; stanag pattern mags and very little deviation from the ar platform is my mindset. I don't have an interest in much of anything outside refining the functionality of those 2 platforms. Just my 2 cents.
