That was awesome Jack Nicholson was singing in the crowd
“Big nasty readhead by my side” That is the definition of great lyrics that paint an entire story for you. He’s a legend.
"Santa Ana winds blowin' hot from the nauth", and we was bone' t' ride."
Echo that brother!!!!
Probably my favorite part is seeing Jack Nicholson in the audience singing along. That man has been a fixture in La for decades and is definitely loving La.
Comment i was searching for ❤ what a great snippet in a great quartet. Rounds it up 😅
Right?! That guy left jersey and is living his best life out in California
The musician’s that back him in this performance speaks volumes about him. Randy Newman was born in LA and only he could show both the love and Satire on the city in this anthem to his home town. This song is a masterpiece and Randy is a national treasure.
Not like his poor little mama, who didn't know a soul in LA.
I almost cried seeing Tom & Jackson singing here. Tom loved L.A., Jackson helped define L.A.
I love this song. Much respect to Fogerty for being SOOO into it. Great to see Jackson - one of my top 3 music idols. And Tom - damn I miss you so much
When Randy started singing after 2:00 I got goosebumps, I didn’t expect that- this song is amazing live. What a great composition & arrangement
Exactly the same! I'm so glad someone else felt that!
A lifelong fan from the days he first came along! A master of poetic sarcasm.
Exactly - I expected less and got waaay more
you are not alone
Look how happy John Fogerty is!
I noticed that too! Lol
He loves it!
he's happy to share the stage with Randy Newman!
Yes Too Happy to also make a nice solo...😃 2:52
0:35 seeing three of my favorite songwriters ever in the same performance is the greatest thing I've ever seen!!!! This kicks ass!!!
This song is way better in this live version than any other. Man, there is some serious talent on that stage, not only with those three singing, but you've got Paul playing keyboard in the background.
Man fuck Paul. He’s Canadian. We got Jackson BROWNE, PETTY, AND FOGERTY!
And Steve Ferrone on drums.
What a line up! Randy sounds amazing even 30 years later. Petty…unreal. Proud to be a Californian!
Randy Newman...The Greatest Songwriter no one knows...and a few very close friends.....
He’s not very close with any of them, stop talking out your ass
I’ve never seen this! This is awesome!
It reminds me of my Dad the summer I went to go live with him. Even though the night stalker was a HUGE fear, I still loved L.A. and being with my Dad.
I miss you Big Vinnie.
I got really sad seeing Tom Petty. He looked and sounded good here, what a shame he's gone.
agreed, what a loss
Sad he's gone. But at least he lived, what a man.
So damn sad. RIP and Damn the Torpedos.
Miss Petty so much
Me too man. Awesome version
I didnt expect to see Tom Petty when i clicked the video but when he started singing i got some goompetybumps
Great performance and song
One of my favorite songs, done well by this great collection of talent. They were having a great time on stage.
I had no idea Tom Petty was a guest on this song & I got chills when I saw Him! Miss Him so much to this day!
Awesome. All those LA musicians up there!
This is like dying and going to heaven, people. And Petty remains a painful empty spot in my musical life.
Wow! Randy, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, John Fogerty and Joe Walsh! Totally awesome!
No Joe Walsh. Will Lee is on bass, Paul Shaffer on keyboards, Waddy Wachtel and a man I don't recognize (but definitely not Joe) on guitars.
@@mistersparkle I want to say that is Ray Parker, Jr on guitar behind Jackson.
Joe walsh is def not in this
Incredible, great performance. I love L.A. ! Send it !
At first I thought Tom Petty was doing his best Randy Newman voice
Great line up of musicians all! Being from San Pedro, I loved seeing "San Pedro" in the background video on the right side of freeway sign at about 2:20! GO DODGERS!!! Knock it out of the park tomorrow,Tues 10/27!!! ⚾🎉💯🏟🌭🏆🎇🎶
Peedro baby! We love it!
Rest in peace Tom Petty.
Love seeing Jack Nicolson.
I love all of these musicians so much! It’s a great tune!! Man it makes smile ear to ear. I wish they were playing it for the super bowl tomorrow. Of course Tom would be absent. 💔
Best RRHOF performance I have seen, so far.
This song is a treasure. Even though LA is in shambles right now after the pandemic (I live in Orange County) I love this song and it gives me hope for LA. What a combo! Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, JOHN FOGERTY!!! All complete with a Nicolson cameo. Glad Randy is in the Hall of Fame, much deserved after his contributions to not only rock and roll, but film music in general.
Gosh, that voice randy... you funckin' rock
God Bless Tom Petty...he was really rolling down Imperial Highway, and I love Red Heads and LA
And 1955 red Buick Century convertibles!
The nastier the better. 😉
Jackson Browne sounds perfect for this song. It just fits him
Tom Petty too! This song fits his voice and vocal style PERFECTLY. It immediately sounds like a song he would write.
Im La raised, this is my favorite song!! 818 To the Valley!!
I love this song so much ! All the californian spirit in the 80's ⭐🌞
Paul Shaffer on keys & Will Lee on bass! ½ of the World's Most Dangerous Band.
I first heard the song in the naked gun but I just love how the Dodgers use it when winning a game. Just makes it so much better
And let’s give a LA shout out
For the incomparable
Waddy Watchel
Man I miss Tom Petty.
this just makes me smile! so fun to see these 4 giants of the industry. crank it up.
Great music and wonderful composers ! I love it . From Brazil !
Does Rock and Roll get any better than this?
I love that Waddy is there..that dude is everywhere
A stunning song sung by FOUR stunning artists on this stage, wow! Totally unexpected and an absolute delight, like so much of Randy's music catalog. Grew up with his Toy Story songs, such an extraordinary artist.
Wow how very cool with these three great stars acompanying Randy !
What a line up, what a band
It is beautiful, thank you!
Best song to hear after every Dodgers victory. I love it!
So glad this pop into my feed - this is wonderful
Tom Petty and Randy Newman together is just awesome. And Nicholson too!
"I Love L.A."
Hate New York City
It's cold and it's damp
And all the people, dressed like monkeys
Let's leave Chicago to the Eskimos
That town's a little bit too rugged
For you and me, you bad girl
Rollin' down, Imperial Highway
Big nasty redhead at my side
Santa Ana winds blowin' hot from the north
And we was born to ride
Roll down the window, put down the top
Crank up the Beach Boys, baby
Don't let the music stop
We're gonna ride it till, w'just can't ride it no more
From the South Bay, to the Valley
From the West Side, to the East Side
Everybody's very happy
'Cause the sun is shinin' all the time
Looks like another perfect day
I love L.A. (We love it)
I love L.A. (We love it)
(piano- instrumental)
Look at that mountain
Look at those trees
Look at that bum over there, man
He's down on his knees
Look at these women
Ain't nothin' like em' nowhere
Century Boulevard (We love it)
Victory Boulevard (We love it)
Santa Monica Boulevard (We love it)
Sixth Street (We love it, we love it, we love it)
We love L.A.
(instrumental)
I love L.A. (We love it)
I love L.A. (We love it)
I love L.A. (We love it)
We know what celebrity "women" really are.
Born in LA, East LA! This song will stand the test of time
The great Steve Ferrone on drums!
It's weird, but he resembled Biff Henderson- (from the Letterman show).
I love Randy... We Love Him!
I LOVE THIS TUNE !
This is the best rendition of I Love LA and Randy is an icon. This feed hides his flub at 1:45 but on the album version it is more noticeable.
I Love the LA Lakers!
Good song to write!
WE LOVE IT!!
All that can be said after watching this video…, I LOVE LA!!!!!!
Great song. Great collaboration. I Love L. A.
That's cool, fun music!! So much talent and love!
PURE AND CLSSIC ROCK AND ROLL !!!!
Born and Bred Los Angeles! Got its problems but it’s home!
That song aged very well.
One of the best songs ever!
WE LOVE IT !!!
great great rendition
Best song ever about LA - the most deranged city in the world. Sums it up perfectly.
it does. and people think it's an anthem... love this vid!
Beach Boys, Hollywood, and the Hills.
I love the non-PC language. It's just freedom of expression at it's finest.
You can’t filter Randy Newman!
this was awesome
Awesome master piece I love discovering greatest songs watching tv movies (naked gun)
Fogerty living his bestest
Every Time The Dodgers Win A Game At Home (Dodger Stadium/Chavez Ravine) The Fans Scream HIT IT RANDY And I LOVE L.A. Comes On Now!!! We LOVE 💙 L.A.!!! GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!
when Randy sings, everybody knows he's the boss!!!!
That was awesome
Taímid grá é! We love it!
I love this-it!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RANDY NEWMAN!
Man, they know how to make Music, with a huge capital M!
I still cannot believe the chose NOT to play this during the closing ceremonies at the 1984 Olympic games in LA. It would of been perfect
Well, it's only appropriate because where they're performing it for that ceremony was... where else? L.A.!
Petty's frequent drummer Steve Ferrone plays on this. And original band member Waddy Wachtel's on this one, too!
Steeeeeerike!
Hey, it's Enrico Pallazzo!
THANK YOU! I can’t ever hear this song without seeing that movie!
souvenirs souvenirs !!!
2020 World Champions!!!!
I love the LA Dodgers!!!!
City of angels. Thats your anthem ❤
We love Long Island! ; )
Wonderful
2:27 Jacks heard this song once or twice before
Yeah that was cool that he showed up. I don’t know if he was just there for Randy Newman or if he was friends with someone else who was getting inducted but it was just so cool to see him there.
I believe he was there with his friend, Lou Adler, who was also inducted that year.
Jackson Browne was doing his damndest to fuck up the tempo. He's in there singing like this is some kind of ballad!
I'm from NY and I laughed my ass off knowing I wasn't the only one.
he does his songs great. and i love him. but he's a bit off on this.
All the great LA musicians
Tom Petty certainly got that Randy voice going....priceless.
Awesome
Great fun, Tom Petty nails Randy Newman.
I Love L.A. 💙
Great song! Shoulda had Toto in there too. (At least Steve Lukather doing the solo)
Otherwise, very fun to watch.
Well you have Greg Philliganes on Keyboards by the looks of it so that’s almost Toto
Good base in his voice 70s
HOLY CATS! I I LOVE LA!¡ BORN AND RAISED!!!
Who else but Steve Ferrone on drums… “we love it”
hes the best of the best
I always think of the movie Naked Gun when I hear this song
Though I’m a huge Toto/Steve Lukather fan (and have always loved Steve’s guitar solo in this song) I have to admit that John Fogerty did a pretty nice job on the solo.
Yeah, really missed Steve being on stage here, but these 3 other songwriters are all amazing in their own right, guess there just wasn't room for all the great musicians who could have played with Randy here 🙂
I truly Love Red Heads...it’s like the force...they’re my Goddamn weakness
Can't believe Tom Petty's gone...
fogerty to the left of him, petty AND BROWN TO THE RIGHT, OH WHAT A SOUND THEY MADE.......ALL THE WORLD WONDERED WHEN WILL THEIR GLORY FADE !!!!!
