Just recently moved back to my home state of California. I live in So Cal, missed it, love it. Beaches, beautiful Coast line, weather. Iconic song. California is like 3 states in 1. Never seen the music video before, but I've heard this song a TON. Loved showing Matterhorn Mountain at Disneyland, it really does give a unique meaning to "Look at that mountain".
I LOVE L.A. and I've never even been there. Maybe it's the DREAM of L.A., Cali in general. Been to NYC, Chicago, seen every continent on our planet ,in service to "Uncle Sam", and big city out there but L.A. is a DREAM to this southern born white boy. That piece of GOLD movie 'The Naked Gun' first introduced me to this song. But I've been in love with the idea of living in Cali, L.A. specifically since I was a single digits kid in the 70s. Binging Bosch recently and so in love with L.A. I know L.A. has problems but be PROUD if you're from there!! Love you guys.
Talk to people that live on Skid Row. Living there isn't easy if you care about having a room/apartment/home to live in. It's WILDLY expensive, even in the bad areas. I'm California born and raised. The rest of California is STUNNING compared to LA, but because LA is famous for making people famous, everyone wants to try their hand. It's just like gambling in Las Vegas.
One of the reasons I fell in love with the magic of LA. Moved here from Europe 10 years later and am still happy 28 years in. Also… that baseline is just killer!
@@VrooooAM Good for you, man. People love to shit on L.A., but every time I've been there, I've never wanted to leave. I love it there. If I thought I could afford to live there and find a decent job, I move there tomorrow
Still have this song on my top list. Went to LA in the '90's. I could understand why people lived there, it was lovely. We saw so many beautiful things, we loved the J P Getty Art Museum. However, that was the first time I saw homeless people pushing grocery carts, begging at the Santa Monica promenade (to name one of many places), and sleeping in a park not far from Beverly Hills where policemen were waking them, telling them they had to move along. I enjoyed all the lovely things but the state of the homeless left a huge impact on me. I returned home, finished my degree and began a long career in Frontline Services in mental health and drug addiction, at one point did work in a Homeless Shelter. I think this song portrays this dichotomy between the haves and have nots, between the Beauty and the Beast.
As a New Yorker who has been to L.A. numerous times, this is the best song, it epitomizes L.A., it's wonderful! Also loved hearing this when I went to a few games at Dodger Stadium (even though I'm a Mets fan). I have much love for L.A. and the New Yorkers that talk shit about it most likely have never been there. :)
@@RDiaz187 no..got tired of the crime and corrupt politicians. Actually make more money and am happier. Once things get collapse further cities will become death traps. Theres something about the 80s what i can remember was this.....people worked hard...no social media.....th way the sun glared in the 80s something nostalgic...the grass was greener and fresh....the trees were beautiful the music was the best 👌 👍 ...people socializing no anxiety just people out there enjoying the time out there....bmx, skateboards, 10 speeds...parks were filled kids like me having the time of our lives....Wow what a time to be alive i miss the good ole 80s 😢
Some days I really miss the city of my birth. Driving down Pacific Coast Highway to the South Bay to see family. Dad just cranking old school Van Halen and getting Tommy's to eat. While the song's lyrics are obviously tongue in cheek and morally ambiguous, I choose to view it in a positive light. Masterful songwriting. Such a killer hook.
That is why I'm here. The LA Rams are going to the Super Bowl and I couldn't get this song out of my head. Giving me that Beverly Hills Cop nostalgia! Frank Sinatra has New York, Ray Charles has Georgia. Is Randy Newman on their level?
I remember when this was the theme song for the ABC network. This dude got a lot of soul! He is a prolific songwriter for several movie soundtracks also!
Mr. Newman’s live Jazz Open 2006, Stuttgart performance is not to be missed, As a bonus, his live version from that performance of “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” Is so special; worth it on that rendition alone.

Best LA moment : waiting in line at LAX just before Thanksgiving , a guy mopping the floor was wearing a turkey hat and would say "gobble gobble" everytime he passed people. Gotta love it!
I spent 6 months in LA this year and I unironically echo this song. Why? Because its the only place on this planet where you can surf in the morning and ski in the afternoon and still be back to hold a paying job the next morning. It's nuts - full of crazies who both make your day hard - but also change the world. And speaking of the world - it's truly a microcosm. LA isn't a city, it's a culture and nearly a civilisation of its own, one that treasures its prominence and diversity in all the right ways. I love LA.
You're hallucinatin'. No way beach to mountain within hours. Too much traffic!! L.A.'s unique, terrific and terrible all at once, will give it that. The place needs a Buffalo NY 6' snowstorm from Pacific coast to Rocky Mountains. Water wate... wat... wa... w... ... ... ... ...
I never noticed he said Imperial Highway in this song, I grew up living just off that Street! Good times as a metal head growing up there before the state was totally ruined.

L.A in the 80's, such a DREAM!!!!!
Born at General Hospital on Halloween 1969! I LOVE LA
The most incredible weather in the world. There is no exaggeration with those words. We do love L.A.
L.A. is rocking, tonight as the Rams down the Bengals in Super Bowl 56. Now, the city has got a World Series trophy(Dodgers), Stanley Cup(Kings), NBA championship(Lakers) and now, a Super Bowl trophy(Rams)!!!

Always brings a smile to my face, reminiscing about the awesome 80s music! And of course, the warm weather in LA year round.
There is no other state like California.
I was born in LA County, Whittier. Lived in Orange County, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
Had moved out of state twice to Tennessee.
Just recently moved back to my home state of California.
I live in So Cal, missed it, love it.
Beaches, beautiful Coast line, weather.
Iconic song.
California is like 3 states in 1.
Southern, Central, Northern.
All so different and unique.
So much to do here in Cali.
Glad to be a Californian.
I love LA!
I was born in Burbank, lived in the Los Angeles area the first 48 years of my life. Unfortunately I’ve spent the last two years stuck in Louisiana. Can’t wait to get back to California. 🥰
@@anxylum I wouldn't want to move back to a woke leftist state. California is no longer like the 1980s anymore.

hey it's Enrico Palazzo

This killed me
It's also Steve Lukather's screaming guitar, the late, great Jeff Porcaro on drum and David Paich on the Fender Rhodes, all from Toto with the ever present, Waddy Wachtel on rhythm guitar! Also Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie on backing vocals.
What a cast!
Ken Perk Yes, all that as well...
But the original comment was a reference to The Naked Gun
@@ninevehguitar I know. It used to be my favorite city though I had never been there. Fell in love with it in the mid 70s watching Battle of the Network Stars and CHIPS. I'm so pissed at what dookeycrats have done to it. Now you couldn't pay me to go there. Sad.
Oh yeah 😂😂😂😂😂😂
LOVIN’ THE CHRIS TAYLOR COMMENTS!!!! LOVIN ALL THE HISTORICAL COMMENTS EVERYTIME OUR BOYS IN BLUE AND PURPLE&GOLD DOES SOMETHING EPIC!!!
Never seen the music video before, but I've heard this song a TON. Loved showing Matterhorn Mountain at Disneyland, it really does give a unique meaning to "Look at that mountain".
WE LOVE L.A. ❤️ 💯
I LOVE L.A. and I've never even been there.
Plenty of miracles happen in LA, that's for sure. I lived there in the 80's and it was magical. I'm sorry I moved away.

@@VrooooAM Good for you, man. People love to shit on L.A., but every time I've been there, I've never wanted to leave. I love it there. If I thought I could afford to live there and find a decent job, I move there tomorrow
People outside of California always underestimate the perfect weather, beaches, and ocean views.
2020 still loving L.A.
Congrats L.A. Lakers. Lets go Dodgers!
Never been to LA and I’m not even a huge randy Newman fan. But this song and video puts a legit smile on my face.

@@charlessedlacek5754 I don't even live in LA anymore myself, I see where you're coming from but politicians are corrupt across the country. Not just in liberal states. As for the control and crime. That's bound to happen naturally when alot of people live in the general area
Played during Los Angeles sporting events when we won.
What a beautiful song. He is incredible and this song is synonymous with success in L.A sports. The cinematography, editing and music are sublime.
That is why I'm here. The LA Rams are going to the Super Bowl and I couldn't get this song out of my head. Giving me that Beverly Hills Cop nostalgia! Frank Sinatra has New York, Ray Charles has Georgia. Is Randy Newman on their level?

I want to cry - I was a young teen when this was popular - we grew up in the best time in history - life was so simple & carefree back then.

When America was sane. All of our great cities are gone now 😢
I spent 6 months in LA this year and I unironically echo this song.
I love LA.
Well said and it is a tragedy what is happening now, because of greedy, corrupt politicians.
