Shastock Meg-A-Mute

Here is another cool mute I just finished. This is a Shastock Meg-A-Mute for trumpet or cornet. The larger outer cone starts off with the same size opening as a regular Shastock straight but continues the same taper down much further terminating in an open end surrounded by a brass ring. Inside that cone is another cone which is the same as the top section of a trumpet Solotone/Whispa/etc except with a solid base. There are six of the small corks you normally see on a TonalColor cup or normal straight mute that are glued on and separate the outer cone from the inner one. Often these mutes get crushed or horribly distorted over time and require the use of heat to return them to the original shape. After the work this mute turned out really well!
