@@darylloth3237 True. 99% because of Bolt though. He was the show, and no one who knew track & field thought those other sprinters were going to beat him. Its amazing that he dominated the time span of three Olympics.
Bolt stole some well deserved thunder from the others. My hat is off to them. Not trying to take away from the current stars but any of the ones I mentioned would be world champions today. Lyles would not even be on the 100m podium if he were to run his current times back when the legends were competing (even without Bolt).
It's not just that it's a near home track for him, it's that it's an altitude and he had a small plus wind. Convert that all out and you're looking at about kenny or kerley or coleman ran at trials. Still quite good but he's not a gold medal favorite or anything. I guess that he will make the final and finish fifth

Coveting that 9.7 just shows you how GREAT and ADVANCED Usain Bolts 9.5 was. That record is along way from being broken.
The 200m WR could fall in the foreseeable future: the 100m maybe never.
The fans were spoiled in the Bolt, Gay, Blake, Powell, Gatlin era.

Nairobi is over a mile above sea level, plus the 1.2 wind. If that race happened in say... Orville, USA. It would be more like 9.87.

Is the stadium at sea level? If not then yes he ran it in Kenya
He ran it at the national champs in Kenya. He mentioned that his race strategy is different from last year so let's see what happens this year.
No it's in altitude
Is the technology making these guy's faster or are they actually faster athletes then the past?
What about maintenance phase bro; seem like a reach. Been waiting for Tennessee gatlin to get his hips under his center of mass out his drive phase.
Is he still going to break Bolt's WR?
