Woman Calls Her Carvana Experience a ‘Nightmare’

- Some Carvana customers say their car-buying process was challenging. Multiple lawsuits claim that Carvana takes too long to transfer the car's registration, leaving some customers vulnerable to being pulled over by police. Carvana denies any wrongdoing. They declined to do an interview. However, in a statement, the company says, in part, they've bought and sold over a million cars and have a 4.7 out of 5-star rating on their website. They also say they're committed to improving their customers' experience.
When companies don’t want to do a interview or decline anything they know they messed up and in the wrong . Until they hear from a lawyer they won’t give you any explanation.
Individuals should do the same no matter what when police want an 'interview'
Exactly. So many of those that try making an easy dollar off innocent and not care knowing they were wrong. They know they won’t face jail time and just pay their way out of it and they do just that.
most companies wait for lawyers
And then rattling off statistics that make you look good as if this is a shareholder meeting and not an inquiry from the press on your shady business practices.
Yeah shut it down they messed up take they business license we don’t have problem with the actual dealership
The lesson here is don’t buy from Carvana

My mom has, but nothing has happened with our car, she bought it in 2019 and it’s normal. I guess it’s the small risk your taking.

“We did nothing wrong.” Stay the hell away from any company that doesn’t take accountability or show concern.
And talking about their 4.7 star rating out of 5.

Its rare these days any large company takes accountability for mistakes unless its a global safety concern, even then there is no guarantee you’ll get an apology.
Hopefully you didn’t vote for trump
I use to work for Carvana and all I can say is no one there knows what they’re doing especially not the post sale team/title and registration department.
They should be shut down. ( Also,

Thanks for the information

I worked for Carvana as well, I’m a witness to all the disasters that went on such as people waiting months for their tag and registration, people buying broken cars because they’re not even inspected properly, and many times cars not arriving due to Carvana’s negligence.
Damn that looks miserable
If somebody's bad experience ends up in the news, take it seriously. I still remember Hertz sending it's customers to jail for reporting their cars stolen even though they were being rented.
They still do
@@relaxation2380 oh wow
I was harassed for 2 years with calls and finally a private investigator from Hertz showed up at my house, he looked like police with a badge, I never been in trouble in my life,it was terrifying. I have a disable child, I started crying thinking I was going to be arrested, I invite him to talk to my neighbors to declare they never seen that car in my house, finally they left my alone, it was a horrible experience.
Yeah, that actually happened to me. I had a private investigator hounding me over a car that they never would pick up. then I was charged $5000 for keeping the car 20 days extra and my bank account went to collections because they wouldn’t right their wrong. There’s no taxi in my city so I had no way to return after giving the rental car back and they kept saying they would pick it up. Glad I didn’t go to jail I guess.
😅 not a laughing matter, but damn can't help it but laugh at something this careless.
My wife and I both purchased vehicles from Carvana without any problems. That’s not to say that they’re doing everything right, only that our personal experiences have been great.
This is why you buy a car in person. You should also make the company bring the car to a mechanic of your choice to do a proper inspection
NEVER buy a used car without a mechanic looking at it.
Nope. I bought my car from a local dealership that is well known in town. It's been 43 days and I still haven't received the title to go register my car and my temp tags expire soon.
@@controlsofquality8679yeah but at least you didn’t have expensive mechanical issues.
For the low cost of $26,000 you can completely ruin your credit, go to jail, and still not have a car. Awesome work Carvana

This is just heartbreaking. Homeless and has to stay in an RV.

I don't think her driving for Uber would make her enough money to afford an apartment let alone a house.
Does carvana sell RVs too? 😂
I thought this was the American dream?
It's easy to blame everyone but yourself. Carvana is to blame for the title issues but you can't blame them for your own mistakes.
Y'all didn't have to call her RV beat up 😆🤣😂 petty smh
That was messed up ! Even If she mentioned it , not nice of them to repeat it !
lol they’re just stating the facts. Its beat up
Ikr. It wasn't that bad.
thats how they make it sound more dramatic
Lmao yeah it wasn't even beat up! It looked pretty decent to me!
What I've learned is that when you come in with your own money, that's when these title issues arise. I went through a credit union and when they hadn't received the title, the credit union threatened to cancel the check for the car. When I asked about the title a few weeks later, the credit union informed me that Carvana had sent them the title the same day they told them about taking the money back.
I know this all too well. Carvana factored the car registration fees into my loan. After a full year of temp tags from different states, I had to pay for the registration and go to the dmv myself. Reached out for a refund and they said it wasn't their fault (it was). Dealing with them was a nightmare, and communication amongst their own staff was nonexistent. I hope they're sued for everything they got and shut down. Awful company.
Similar experience here, did you get your title finally?
Carvana should tack responsibility because it’s their job to make sure the cars work
They spend millions in Ads but can't guarantee customers satisfaction. Why anyone would trust that scandalous sketchy car dealership is dumb
Dealers cannot guarantee if a used car would break down immediately or not it depends on the vehicles history
Take
It’s used cars. What do you expect ? Brand new car ?
Yes, they should *_take_* responsibility!
I missed the part explaining why she had to fly over multiple states to get a four-door Mazda sedan.
I don't think it's relevant to the actual story. But my guess is she really wanted that specific car for that price, and no Carvana's near her had that same deal.
She's really dumb that's why. You can find people selling privately and for way cheaper
Probably cheaper, better deal.
Sounds like she wanted the vending machine experience🤣
THANK YOU. Even if Carvana sucks, people need to take some personal responsibility.
This makes me glad I avoided Carvana when I was looking for a car. It sounded too good to be true. My stomach kept telling me to avoid it, it's a scam
Not to negate anyone's experience, but I had an awesome experience with Carvana both buying and selling. In my state, I needed to go to the DMV and register the car myself as owner. Carvana had given me the completed form to take to the DMV. The process of buying the car and taking delivery was beautiful and simple with complete transparency at each step. A few years later, I sold the car back to Carvana due to relocation. I not only got a great price, the process of selling to Carvana literally took minutes! I am sorry for the negative experience that some people have had but for me and my family, Carvana has proved itself not once but twice. My advice is know the local DMV requirements and be proactive. My state's DMV has the requirements from buyer/seller on their website and it helped to be familiar with them. Thank you and I really hope you benefit from what Carvana has to offer.
Some states have a lemon law to prevent these kinds of incidents. My guess is Carvana only sets up shop in areas where they can get a way with it.
100/100
I'm in PA and we have a pretty strong lemon law
They still have locations here, but I haven't heard of too many friends buying from them
@@ab3040 I bought 2 new cars in the last 3 months. I can't picture buying a car with anything other than the dealership experience and haggling.
Lemon law applies only to new cars, Carvana deals exclusively with used ones. Lemon law is only related to mechanical defects as well, not paperwork delays.
@@alexm566 Depending on the state you live in, lemon laws can extend to used cars as well. For example, look up NY's policy (I tried posting a link, but youtube deleted my comment).

I bought from Carvana back In 2020, feel pretty lucky and grateful that my purchase went well and has been going well. I was excited because it seemed like this easy and fun process, which I thought it was. Seeing the car being delivered to me was too cool. Paperwork was easy and off they went with no issues. I did get a Honda though so pretty bulletproof😉
Carvana is a mess. I test drove the car before i was going to buy it and it drove terrible. Told them I didn’t want the car anymore. So I had to sign a paper that I declined to buy the vehicle. Didn’t think twice about it anymore. Then about 3 months letter I got a paper in the mail from the DMV stating proof of insurance required for a 2019 VW Atlas.
Carvana had registered the car in my name already and didn’t take my name off once I canceled the order. I had to get a letter from Carvana acknowledging they made a mistake. It was ridiculous getting someone on the phone who was coherent.
Steer clear of this place.
We had a horrible experience selling our car with them! We drove six hours to the drop off spot and they canceled our appointment… one thing after another we ended up having to cancel everything and lost about $1,000.
They wouldn't go to your house? I sold my car to them, they came, looked at it, drove it a mile, I signed papers, they have he a check then left. Took 10 mins.

It’s been going on since before 2020 with some cars not ever getting their registration. They’ve lost their lic in multiple states multiple times over the same thing. I can’t believe ppl would even buy a car from them tbh
Yea you right. I heard a similar story, I wana say a few years ago. People should stop buying from them.
no this is just terrible management at carvana, i worked with thousands of car dealerships for over 5 years and they never had issues confirming ownership and title handling a responsible dealership will not accept your vehicle on trade unless you can hand them the title for it and confirm it is clean!
I see the horror stories about Carvana and it honestly makes me feel lucky. I got a car from them last year and it's been bulletproof, plus zero issues at the DMV.
Shame to see them screwing others.
Your time will come. Carvana sucks. I went through 3 cars in their 7 day period…… literally they don’t inspect their cars and just try to make a quick buck
You’re probably lucky enough to go to their only competent location
My sister got a car from Carvana, had problems with the shocks so driving on a normal road was bumpy as all hell, and the A/C broke after a few months in 105 degree heat. NEVER EVER buy from carvana, this video is not far from the truth.
Tell that to the 3 states that have revoked Carvana's car sales license. In my opinion the federal government needs to step in and start an investigation.
There's a reason Carvana stock has gone from 360 to under $12 in a year.
A lot of stock has tanked in a year...

The weirdest crazy part about purchasing a car from Carvana they have you to wait almost a year to receive the title in the mail
I. Too, had a nightmare experience with Carvana. Long story short, I never was given title so the car could be registered in CA. After 3 months and driven 5k miles, I gave the car back and eventually did get a full refund minus a $23 fee from DMC to dive the car almost 5 hr to turn it in, no reimbursement for gas spent to do so. The agent I worked with almost daily since I bought the car told me to think of it as a free car rental. NO, it was a nightmare!!!! I will NEVER buy another vehicle from them nor any other such dealers!!! I wish I knew a lawyer that would take on a class action suit against them!! I turned in the car over a year ago now. How can a company be such a crook?
Nothing beats going on a lot with a trusted mechanic and test driving the car. Along with a visual inspection.
That does Nothing for transferring ownership which is the real problem.... But yeah, I Always bring a real mechanic

They give you 7 days to test drive it and checked out with your own mechanic if you want. If you want to return it, they take it back and refund all of your money.
Shopping for a car online without looking at it; what could go wrong?
Not much with some photoshopping and towels for the oil and fluids leaking. Never buy a car online, ever! Scammers a million running rampant!
I found my car online on Autotrader. It was a two-hour drive away in ATL, and I went down to the dealership and test drove it. The overall experience was very easy. I would never buy a vehicle without test driving it.
They do have a 7 day return policy.. if that was me wanting to do that just for vending machine experience, I would immediately get it checked out by a mechanic.. and could've returned it
Wow. Who would have thought buying a car online, sight unseen, from a company that sells them from vending machines would be a bad idea? What's next? Picking up drunk, total strangers at 3:00 A.M. in your own car? Or renting your house to strangers for a few days? Geniuses.

From what I've heard, Carvana only had $316 Million in December, which sounds like a lot until you find out they lost $1.5 Billion the first 9 months of last year. I figure they're probably on their last leg.
Remember covid?
Naw they don’t have much over head ..plus they buy so low and sell higher than market
The Carvana displays reminds me of my brother’s Hotwheels toy collection. One set he had was a small tower with a working elevator that you can raise or lower the car to each level that had two car holders on each level, one on each side of the elevator. We still have that toy.
Cool story but I don't think anybody remembers asking. 😕
I remember that Hot Wheels Toy.
I just ordered my second car from Carvana. First time was 2018 and the process was seamless. Loved the car, paid it off early, and have since sold it. I've got my fingers crossed that my delivery next week goes as perfectly as the first time. I had heard of the issues, but I still went through them due to my first experience being so positive.
Our experience with Carvana was terrible. The delivery time was from 11am-2pm EST. 2pm passes, but we get no call, no notification, nothing. We call to follow up, and were told to wait another hour or so. Carvana would not give us a valid ETA on the late delivery. Calling this unprofessional and lack of customer focus is understatement. We would not recommend buying or selling a car from Carvana.
She may be "ruined" for the time being, but she WILL bounce back. They're going to REGRET this, especially to those other "700" people that lawyer talked about.

I’ve heard bad things about Carvana. I got my car from a dealership that has been around for decades. I’ve had no issues with them.
It happened to my son, it took almost a year for them to correct! These people have to be licensed and bonded. If they do not give title and registration, make a complaint with their bond insurance. Make sure you GET the name of their bond insurer at the beginning of the transaction!
So grateful to learn this. Thankyou kindly inside edution.
As for title/reg, it may be out of Carvana’s hands. It can take months depending on how backed up the DMV is. Which is why you don’t buy a car out of state. I work for a company that deals with the DMV. I’ve seen them take 6 months to finish up a transfer of a used car from out of state (and we have smog inspections here so it can make it worse). When it comes to car buying, buy local.
Just because you buy a vehicle out of state doesn’t have anything to do with the smog inspection all you need is the title of the vehicle to take to your local DMV for buying privately owned vehicles
Some people even buy vehicles from car lots out of state and smog has never been a issue it depends on if you live in a county or state where they do have smog inspections I believe a lot of states have smog inspection it just depends on what county you live in because some county’s do not require smog inspections
If it seems too good to be true it probably is 😭
Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about.
I had them bring me a Cadillac XTS. Took it for a test ride and the suspension was three times worse than my 20 year old truck. I sent it back and ordered another one. The 2nd one showed up with the entire passenger side rocker panel caved in, the front quarter panel repainted, complete with paint runs and over-spray on the headlight and the right front wheel didn't match the other three. Obviously, it had been wrecked. That one went back too and I told them I was done with them. I bought a one from a private owner...for $6,000 less and 18,000 fewer miles. I have to wonder what the hell they inspect in their 150 point inspection. You can't leave them a review unless you actually buy the car so this is my review. Don't even think about buying from Carvana!
Wow. My experience was completely different. They delivered the car to me (didn't have to go to another state). They also got me the temp and the regular tag a month later. This was 2 years ago for me in florida

I missed the reason why she had to fly several states over to buy a car. Wasn't there something in her price range more local to her?
I had wondered that too.
It sounds like she wanted to experience the vending machine. Meh, it probably saved her the $600 out-of-area delivery fee. When I shopped on Carvana, I just planned on delivery, so I had no idea where the car was coming from... and didn't really care. When I learned that the car I ordered was in Arizona, I almost flew from Wisconsin to Arizona to pick it up. My sons live in AZ and getting the car from a vending machine would've been a unique experience. Ultimately, I decided to have the car delivered (it was a 3-year-old Camaro SS with only 5,000 miles on the odometer, so I really didn't want to add all those miles on the drive home).

Used to work for a similar company and realized these companies put the product on the market before having the title in their possession. Then when a customer falls in love with a vehicle they spend all their hard earned money just to have a car they can't drive cuz the title is in transit and hasn't been processed from where that company bought it from which is usually auctions and they have a terrible way of handling titles.

I got my car though carvana. They canceled on my a few hours before delivery 3 times. The 4th time I finally get the car. I had to keep taking days off from work and my boss thought I was an idiot. Then my plates expired. I was able to get temporary ones and finally got my plates. I’ve had the car for 2 years and haven’t had any issues with the car itself. But it was a nightmare to actually get the vehicle
Why not just go to your local dealerships?
@@gbrown932 the price was far more affordable than anything I could find locally at the time
I almost did it, good thing I didn't lol
Same bro
yeah i was about to buy a lexus from it after i saw this video i said oh hell na i change my mind
I’m glad you didn’t, literally waited so long for my tags.
Not gon lie pretty funny how the most replayed part is when he says “ living in her old beat up RV” 😂
Because the RV doesn't looks beat up at all lol
“They have a 4.7 out of 5 star rating on THEIR website” lmaooo the audacity to use that! 😂😂😂
I've bought 2 cars from Carvana. The first one I bought did have an issue with the Throttle Body within a week of getting it but luckily their warranty covered it and my 2nd one I bought hasn't had any issues at all. It did take them a couple weeks to get my registration to me which was a week longer than they said it would take but it wasn't too big of an issue for me personally. Idk overall my experience has been pretty good with Carvana.
She probably broke the car just getting in it
Definitely
How is one’s credit “ruined” by this is they paid in full for the car…or were they just SAYING that and didn’t/couldn’t make the payments? It all sounds fishy.
You flew states over to buy what looks like a Mazda? LMAO
I bought my 2021 Subaru WRX last summer from Carvana and had it delivered to me. I've NEVER had an issue so far and everything was great. I got everything in the mail and no issues whatsoever. I've even called many times for questions and always had someone answer and help me. I feel like there's more to these stories. No matter who or where you buy from, you need to do your own research on the vehicle. Also, they offer several packages for maintenance afterwards.
Yeah a less than 2 year old car. Shouldn't have any issues
I’m glad everything is working out for your car. I would just take it to a trusted mechanic if even the slightest issue occurs in your car. Make sure they check all fluids and nothing is leaking. Also, check your brakes and transmission. Your safety is your #1 priority. Overall, Carvana can’t be trusted. Save driving and be careful!
Hopefully justice will come to help that poor woman who lost her job as an Uber driver and no longer has to be homeless
Since screw the other couple huh?
@@beearthur0634 right everyone is ignoring their story for some reason...
I just bought a car from carvana and I had no issues! It’s was eazy as pie!Well accept one the fuel pump went out on the car a month later! But carvana fix free of charge, no hassle and offered to pay for my rental! I guess I’m blessed!
Always mechanically check the car before driving away
hmm this is interesting. I have owned my car which I purchased from carvana for about 5 years now and never experienced any these problems. car still runs and drives perfect too
Why is that interesting?
Just because you got lucky, doesn't mean it doesn't happy to many others.
@@kyleroberts1276 no i'm saying interesting as in, i didn't know this was happening to so many people
