- Skeet Hansen is part of a growing group of so-called "video vigilantes." Similar to Chris Hansen's "To Catch a Predator," video vigilantes set up online sting operations to catch alleged child predators. According to the Washington Post, in the last three years over 150 groups have emerged featuring average citizens catching predators online. He agreed to show Inside Edition how his latest sting went down in a Michigan hotel room. He says he’s doing a public service and disagrees with being referred to as a “vigilante.”

If we change the way we obtain and keep evidence, we won't have to the dismiss evidence because it was illegally gathered.
I liked Chris, but that statement is immensely Hypocritical, critiquing Skeeters career for views and clicks when he's arguably done the same for his journalistic career, trying to repeat the same series to somewhat live off what he once had in 2006 with "To Catch a Predator," even going as far as arrested for fraud because he couldn't afford to pay for his merch he made. His statements aren't exactly wrong, but insanely hypocritical.

Vigilante justice is needed when the cops don’t have the time or resources. They’re exposing people online for attempting to commit crimes. This is pretty noble and informative to do.

I think predator catching is a good thing, but only if the catcher is capable. Skeet has done this for years but in this catch he does for/with Inside edition, it was objectively a failure in every way.
he didn't make a plan with his team to stealthily call police so the pred heard 911 and ran off, the pred literally denied everything, his team made no effort to see what car the pred came in, and the pred ran off without knowing his real name nor car, the "conversation" was 2 minutes of pred denying everything, no charges were filed.
Compare this to the more capable catchers that go into the catch knowing the preds identity/address/job, can easily get preds to talk and confess for upwards of 2 hours, stealthily get cops on scene, and consistently get arrests.

The survivors who have evidence of a crime occurring can, and do, catch these perverts. Kids can type and report abuse. They aren't incapable. I did it. Give them a better system though, because talking to the cops as a kid is pretty excruciating. I wish it on absolutely no one. I'd argue some of these predators now have a better idea of how to go about having sex with a minor, having been caught and walked themselves home. The very least he could've done is call the police beforehand, rather than throwing some kid(18 yr old i.e) in with a room with a child predator before calling the police in front of them. "It's not worth the risk" - If RUclipsrs want to put their lives at risk to save that of a 13 year old kid, then I think it's a fair tradeoff. They're putting in the work the police and judges aren't wiling to do. Had they not intervened, who knows how many kids these creeps will meet. Although they may not go to jail, they'll think twice when they see their episode air on RUclips for the world to see.
He's invited FANS to pose as decoys. Maybe next time one of these predators won't get caught having learned from their encounter with the Skeetman. Granted they're not very bright, so perhaps they'll find themselves in the exact same situation, but with an actual minor. I understand why prosecutors and others say this "vigilantism" is not a good idea, but public humiliation can be an effective tactic to scare these pedos. If the cops aren't catching them, and people like Skeet aren't catching them, then no one is catching them.
