  • How to Frame Out Basement Walls?
    www.insofast.c...
These are some of the tools and supplies that you will need to install InSoFast to your walls that is now available at Menards.
    You will want to
    • Measure
    • Mark
    • Cut
    • And fit
the panels before you adhesively or mechanically attach them to your walls.
    • Tape measure
    • A dark marking pen
    • A razor knife with extra blades for cutting and trimming the foam panel
When cutting across the panel and through the studs it is necessary to use
    • A sharp tooth hand saw
    • jigsaw
    • Or Skill saw
Once you have completed the measure, mark and cut phase you are ready to either adhesively or mechanically attach your panels to the wall.
For adhesive applications, USE the Loctite® PL® Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive in the 28 ounce tubes. One 28 ounce tube of adhesive is enough to install 6 InSoFast panels, 48 square feet.
If you choose to use fasteners a few extra tools and supplies are needed.
    • A hammer drill
    • Proper length concrete drill bit
    • Concrete screw manufacturers recommend a minimum of one inch penetration into the substrate. Add 2 inches to the screw length to compensate for the depth of our stud
    • A Tapcon 3/16” by 3 ¼” will work
Now that the panels are installed you are ready to air seal your project. To do this we recommend using a spray foam adhesive to fill any gaps in the insulation’s thermal barrier.
    • At the floors
    • Corners
    • Damages that occurred during installation
    • And any other penetrations or gaps
For electric locate the raceways marked on the front of the panel and remove the foam.
    • Run your wires vertically and horizontally.
    • Install the electrical box and roughed in wires.
    • Spray foam and seal the box.
Next trim any foam over spray and you are ready to install your finish material, for drywall, use a standard length course thread drywall screw.

I put this in my basement a couple years ago. It was so easy to put up. No carrying heavy lumber downstairs. My building inspector never saw this before but had no problem with it except I did have to add hardboard insulation to meet CO code. I just glued the hardboard insulation right to the panels. I would buy again, especially now that lumber prices have jumped so high.

That’s ridiculous you had to add insulation to these panels which are already insulated.

@@kless001 The panels are R8.5. Colorado code requires R13.

Hi, How does the drywall attach to the Insofast panels? Secondly, instead of drywall, can I use any other vinyl or wood wall panels?

insofast.com/explore/adhesive-attachment/ Loctite PL Premium’s 3X Stronger Construction Adhesive on clean concrete surfaces. It is the adhesive we recommend. Other formulas and brands may not work as expected. The technic you are describing is called flashing. The adhesive manufacturer has other tips and suggestions: www.loctiteproducts.com/p/pl_ca_prem/directions/Loctite-PL-Premium-Polyurethane-Construction-Adhesive.htm
    Preparation
Use above 40°F (4°C). Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of frost, grease, dust and other contaminants. Pre-fit all materials and protect finished surfaces. If using cartridge format, cut nozzle at a 45° angle to desired bead size and puncture inner seal. Be very careful not to allow Loctite® PL® Premium to cure on a finished surface.
    Application
Apply adhesive to one surface of the material being bonded. Press the surfaces firmly together. Materials may be repositioned within 45 minutes after applying the adhesive. If bonding two non-porous surfaces (such as foam, metal and fiberglass), add water in the form of a very light or atomized spray from a plant mister bottle to the extruded adhesive. The repositioning time will then be reduced to less than 30 minutes. Use mechanical support for 24 hours while the adhesive cures.
Flashing exposes the polyurethane adhesive to moisture, "humidity," that will aid and accelerate the adhesive's set time.

I did my entire basement and I would recommend this product with the highest grades possible for ease and insulating properties. I live very near Lake Erie and the cold weather can keep a basement on the cold side. After insulating with InSoFast, and drywall over top of that, we have a usable basement year round. Thanks for such a wonderful product! And it is cost efficient too!

Anything that you would attach to traditional wood or metal stud framing. See this web page for more information:

We have some moisture issues coming through the cinder blocks in our basement. Could we use this and not worry about mold issues?

    Is it water proof?

    • @insofast-continuous-insulation
      @insofast-continuous-insulation  2 года назад +1

It controls and directs water away from finishes. We meet the typical definition, impervious to water especially : covered or treated with a material (such as a solution of rubber) to prevent permeation by water. We like to say we are an important part of a comprehensive approach to waterproofing your basement.
