I just found your channel, love your videos. You got a new subscriber. I stopped colouring my hair last March when I started working from home. I am 57 years old with almost 100% grey, when I go grocery shopping I do not mind it, but next week I will be meeting some friends after years and I have started feeling a bit conscious. I wish I was more confident about my grey hair.
Love your videos. I just found your channel and I am so impressed. I am 71 years young and colored my hair for years and years. Finally one day I just decided to let the gray come through and never looked back. I never had a demarcation line, just the gray came in here and there and now I am salt and pepper. I also have curly hair and decided to stop straightening it at the same time. Too much bleach and too much heat and now I have healthier hair. I am going through a crisis right now as to what to do with my hair. It just never seems to look right. I may have to change products or something. Anyway, thanks for sharing and I look forward to many more videos.
Kerry-Lou I just love you! You're so lovely and real at the same time. You are just what the world needs now. Watching your videos are addictive! Keep bring us your joy!
You are gorgeous no matter how you style your hair! Your experience is very encouraging and your smile brings a lot of joy while watching your video! Thank you so much Kerry-Lou!❤️
Thought I would never let my hair go grey and then I got breast cancer and bald. As it grew in I was glad for any nair at all. Now it looks almost exactly like your ( after 6 months ) very curly and silver . Everyone loves it and so do I . At 73 I am a survivor and proud of my silver hair . Love you and your uplifting videos.
Been there in the past ... 2x BC survivor ... my hair hasn't got to the really gray stage ... at 68 it is still more pepper than salt. I am hoping the rest will turn soon. Blessings for a healthy future.
Kerry lou... you are a very happy at heart person...you smile and laugh all the time ... beleive me you will never grow old....there is a child in you and you bring it out openly.... This was such a fun video and I really enjoyed seeing your photos! About 8 yrs ago I signed up with our local childrens cancer society fund drive. It was to shave your hair for charity. I signed up then spent a week panicing wondering what I had done. Then the donations from friends and family even people I didnt know started pouring in so I couldnt back out. At that point I had been dyeing my hair for years and I had just below the ears length hair. The day came and I sat on a stage surrounded by lots of people I had never seen in my life as other people also waited their turn to have their heads shaved. I was amazed to discover I had quite a nice shaped head ( thank goodness). When my hair started growing back in I decided there and then I wasnt going to colour it anymore. Ive kept it super short ever since. Every couple of weeks I will wash it with purple shampoo which helps to keep it from getting brassy looking and gives the silver grey added sparkle. I love the freedom!! x
Such an amazing story, thank you very much for sharing this with us. Everyone has a different path on their silver journey, and yours is wonderful and inspirational, THANK YOU! xxx
You are my hair inspiration! I actually showed my stylist a picture of you (your hair of course) to begin my "going gray" journey with a much shorter haircut than I've had in a very long time. The response from friends and family on my new shorter hair was amazing! I should have cut it years ago!!
Hi Kerry-Lou! What a gorgeous measured piece full of sound advice and great tips based on your own journey. Like you I started with a bright white streak in the front and although it’s very much salt and pepper just now on the top and sides it’s still dark around the back (and particularly awful with my lockdown hair 😱). But you know what? I love it! No longer spending lots of money in salons getting it covered and I feel myself and love it!! So thanks for the confidence boost Kerry-Lou! Stay safe 💕💕💕
Thanks so much for your feed-back Stacey, I'm glad you liked it. Glad your loving your hair, I am very much looking forward to my next trim, just enough so it doesn't look too crazy! I will be a while though, we're being very careful still, hope you stay safe too! x
I am 3 years out from breast cancer. Lost all my hair during treatment and I love my new hair. I have several different shades of grey, silver, ash, and dark grey. I find that it looks better with the natural changes in my skin.
Stopped colouring mine 6 years ago. Love the freedom. Also was never allowed to grow my hair so now I can almost sit on it. Thank you for your sharing. Love your show.
Hi Kerry- Lou, I'm so glad I came across your video. I'm 62, and it's been almost 4 month since I've had my hair colored. I'm so excited to see the gray come in. I have curly hair just like you! I really don't mind how the gray curls are mingling with the old brown color. My salon just reopened and I got a short cut so this process will go a bit faster. Really lovely to see beautiful gray CURLY hair!!!!!!! Thanks and stay well.❤
So glad you liked the video Karin - It is nice to just cut all the old color off and start anew I think! Sounds like your having fun with the process - good for you!
Your style and energy are just wonderful. I’m now 54 and took 2 years growing out the different shades of dye. I was so disappointed as it was so dull and dreary. I lived with it for around 18 months but finally decided before Christmas to have a play and add some colour. I think there wasn’t enough grey to look good, I looked like I just couldn’t be bothered......which was in fact completely true!!! The great irony is that we have of course been in lockdown , so my (and a hefty proportion of the population), natural roots are well and truly growing through once again 😂. Stay well and keep happy everyone
Because of the Pandemic and couldn’t touch up my roots, I decided to go for it and embrace my gray. I also joined a support group on Facebook, which really helps. I know longer worry about people seeing my gray roots. I’ll save money and keep chemicals off my hair. Thank you for sharing your story 💕
Your hair is sooooo beautiful! The color, the cut. I have natural curly hair and I'm letting my hair go gray. I'll be so excited when it all comes out. The thing with me is that I'm having a bit of a hard time going short but after seeing your hairstyle, I'm going to embrace going shorter. Love this video. So inspiring.
Thanks Margaret, now it’s quite a bit longer, and I haven’t had a trim yet due to Covid! Fortunately, when you have curly hair you can kind of mold it into shape LOL! Good luck with your gray transition ☺️
You're very beautiful!!!! I'm 64 and finally made up my mind to go grey. I'm scared and excited at the same time. I'm just hoping it will look good for me so I can just relax and be happy the rest of my days. Thanx for the motivation!!💕
Great story, love the way you said it. I am 72 and I been gray since I was 45 of age. Will never go back to. Coloring again. Thank you for your gray hair journey . You are a very beautiful lady.
You are such a beautiful woman! I am turning 60 this October and tired of 30 years of dying my hair, but I still don't get the courage to let my grey hair show. A huge kiss from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Oh Dear you are STUNNING! I just started my transition for the 3rd time. I am 💯 committed this time. I love the Silver hair Community and will follow for support. Thank you 🙏
Kerry Lou, I love your hair at this stage, love the curls and color. My mom was the oldest of 9 girls (can u imagine!), one of them was a hairdresser, so the gang would get together every month and the hairdresser would take care of their hair, so I never saw any of them with gray hair! I couldn’t wait to see what color mine would be! After all that, I am 66 and the gray is in the front only and the back is now very dark, it’s pretty cool, cause I’m growing out my pixie to a short bob. The way the gray is coming just seems like it belongs; it very freeing!!!!!!✌️💕
I was so happy to see your post in my Inbox today.... just yesterday I thought "I haven't seen any posts from Kerry-Lou. Hope she is well." Voila! Here you are looking gorgeously happy.... such an inspiration.
Fun to hear your story! Lol'd when you spoke of hair being a journey, not a destination! I embraced my silver at sixty five; thinking of my age and six grandsons, decided life is too short to spend it coloring! Transition was completed in a few short months, since I only used temporary coloring. Like you, I no longer wanted chemicals on my head, mainly due to health risks! Initially I was disappointed with less silver than expected. Then hubby reminded me it's patterning just like my Mom's did, which made me far more content:). Love the silver around my face:). Thanks so much for sharing your experience going silver! :) Sweet to see so many doing the same!
Its been 2 years now going grey and absolutely loving it more diver in my front and a little salty on sides and back...I've had so many compliments....I sure have done it sooner...yours has been so beautiful and u gave me the courage to go for it .stay safe and have an awesome day💕💕
Love listening to you! You have a great accent! You are beautiful and you totally rock your silver! I’m taking the plunge tomorrow to embrace my white! Cross your fingers and wish me luck!
You are beyond fabulous in every way!.., your personality, your voice, your beauty, your hair!... thank you so much for a fantastic video... I am almost 14 weeks dye free... I tried it awhile ago for two months... but, caved!... this time I don’t care what anyone thinks!.., I want to go through this journey and I love the color I am seeing!... it is certainly a privilege that I can do this!.., my grandson passed away at 22 months old... you really put things into perspective after that... the pandemic started this journey for me.., now, I am running with it.,, I also agree what you said about how you present yourself, style your hair etc... that doesn’t need to make you old with silver/ grey hair!.., much love an appreciation!... i follow some of the women you mentioned on IG!!!.. fabulous!!!.stay safe and healthy!💜💜💜💜💜
When I retired and changed jobs making half my original salary, I had to give up some of my beauty habits. Because my hair was short and it grew so quickly, I needed a cut and color every 6 to 8 weeks. The cost was too much for my new budget...so, I decided to let it go grey. I have never regretted the decision. Although my hair is not as solid grey and beautiful as yours, I do love it. And since COVID hit, I have also been cutting my own hair. You do what you have to when the need arises. I actually like doing my own hair because I can trim it every two weeks and keep it at my favorite length rather than that freshly cut look that needs to grow for a week before you can style it as you want. Thanks for sharing. What a beauty you were and are now!
Thanks so much Alicia, it's so nice that you are happy with your natural hair! Isn't it amazing how much you can save? All the best to you love, take care! x
My grandmother was snow white at 28. So, we gray rather early in my family. My sister & I kept our hair colored, my sister as a blond, because that's the color of the women's hair on my mom's side, me I was born dark headed like my dad, so I kept my mousey brown, a red/auburn shade. We decided in our 60s, me at 60 & her at 56 to see who had the most gray. She is a beautiful snow white like my grandmother and me, well a silver, peppered still with a little brown. But neither one of us have thought twice about picking up the dye bottle again. I have certainly enjoyed the freedom of time & saving of money. Loved seeing your pictures of youth. You were and are a beautiful lady.
Ms. R Melinda R I am older. I don’t want to be 20 again, I love my white hair. I don’t care what other people think, that’s their problem. Saves a fortune and lots of time. I was a brunette and went gradually over 2 years. Worth it.
Hello Kerry-Lou! First let me say how much I love your channel. I really look forward to seeing you and your lovely smile. My story is a funny one. I have never dyed my hair, it started graying when I was in my late 20’s. I had two young boys then and couldn’t be bothered with hair dye, let alone afford to pay to have it done. My hair was very healthy and quite wavy and thick and I got many compliments on it, despite the silver strands. Fast forward to my 40’s. I became an empty nester. All of a sudden I had more time on my hands and all my friends were experimenting with new hairdos and hair colors. They were looking so cute and sassy while I thought I was beginning to see an old lady in the mirror with more and more gray hair. One day I picked up a box of Loving Care in the grocery store. Fully intending to surprise my husband by becoming a beautiful redhead by the time he got home, I first hurried home to meet the plumber. As I was paying the man, he said to me: « Please don’t think that I am being too forward, but I can’t help but notice how beautiful your hair looks in the sun. You need to know that many men love gray hair like yours and I am one of them. You must never do anything to change that beautiful color. It really suits you ». I of course thanked the man, he went on his way and I never saw him again. But I ran into the house and looked into the mirror and saw a different woman looking back at me. I put that box of Loving Care into the back of the cabinet, thinking that I might try it some other time. I am now 75 years old, and still getting compliments on my hair. Oh, by-the-way, that box of hair dye is still waiting in the back of my cabinet.
SUCH a sweet, funny, amazing story!! Oh, I love this! What a sweet man, (The plumber) can you imagine if you had used the red? I wonder what your husband would have said, definitely a surprise, not sure what sort of surprise though:-D I would love to use your story in an upcoming video, let me know if that's OK, people need to hear this. Thanks SO much Lynne! x
Hello from Greece. I'm 58 and never colored my hair, which now is something between grey and light brown. I took the decision never to color my hair at my early twenties. My mom was at my today age at that time and sent me to a famous hairdresser in Athens to cut my hair. While I was waiting, a lady around 60 entered the room. She was tall and had long, almost white hair. She was very well dressed and was so, but so impressive. I not only took my decision at that day but I also persuaded my mom to stop coloring her hair. Today people think I spend a lot of money to achieve my hair's color and when I tell them it's my natural color they are impressed. I strongly believe that at this age it's much more flattering to have the color nature has given you, plus it saves you from lots of troubles.
Awwwh, you are so beautiful Kerry-Lou , inside and out. A great inspiration too. Thanks to your positive attitude I'm feeling really confident about just cutting off the brown dye & embracing the silver. I can't wait. I'tl feel great! :-)
Great video. I am 57 and have been on the fence about letting my hair go gray. I am so tired of coloring it; which I am doing every 2 weeks; which I also hate. I think it is fear more than anything tha has kept me from taking that big leap. I think it is time for the jump. Thank you for the straight talk and tips.
Hi Teresa, I’m glad the videos are helpful to you! Perhaps you could try growing out one streak of gray hair, to check out how it looks and what kind of gray you have coming in? Good luck!
It's funny you put out this video now. I'm currently on my silver journey. I love my curly hair and want it to be as healthy as possible. As such, I've decided to awaken my natural color and stop coloring it. I've been red for years, but my natural base was dark brown with red highlights. Now I'm about 50-60% silver and my stylist began adding more and more highlights about 9 months ago. Last visit she did a full platinum and in 6 weeks we'll start with the silver! I can't wait!!!!😍💗
Dear Kerry Lou, I found you though Cindy Hattersley's blog last weekend. She was writing about going gray, products, etc. and mentioned you. I almost went au natural the first time we were in Covid lockdown and hair salons were closed but hung on until I could see my hairdresser. Now we are back into quarantine again in CA and after reading Cindy's blog, I made up my mind to do this! I did see my hairdresser (at her home last week) and she cut my pixie really short. Since I hadn't colored it for a couple of months, she thinks I'll pretty much be "there" at my next cut. I'm a little unsure but also excited. After finding you, I fell down the rabbit hole, watching your videos. You seem as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside. I am doing lots of investigation into what else this will influence regarding the colors I wear, jewelry and makeup. In your experience, will clothes and jewelry still work with gray since the skin tone doesn't change? I realize makeup will need to be amped up. Thanks for being a fabulous role model!
Hi Wren, Thanks so much for you very sweet comment, I love hearing about your hair journey! I'd love to discuss this with you, please email me if you like, contact info in bio, thanks! xx
You are so awesome! My husband has been trying to get me to go natural. This may be the push I needed to get off the fence! Thanks for this!! You look amazing.
I coloured my hair for so many years - I finally decided to embrace my white/grey - went to my hairstylist and said "chop it all off and just put in some highlights" BEST decision. I love my NEW hair so much and I love my pixie cut - I will never colour it again.
I decided abt a yr ago to stop covering my grey - which by that time looked already white! I didn't want to be a slave to it anymore. I have a few very tiny spots of blond that will be gone at my next haircut. It's very curly and i have those same forehead spiral as you, Kerry. When I was in Florida in Jan some people just couldn't help themselves to "boing" it! Imagine! One little girl couldn't take her eyes off it so I asked her if she wanted to "boing" it. She was thrilled! So, I am back to the color of my childhood & it didn't hurt so much! It's very freeing. Of course I'm not so happy w/my wrinkles, but I've pretty much quit looking in a mirror once I retired. You are so gorgeous! And seem as beautiful on the inside! I'm throwing away all my old makeup & trying your picks from your recent how-to make-up lesson.
I am reading this with a big smile on my face - "Boing!" love it!! Yes, once the younger women start copying our wrinkles, (You know, they're dying their hair grey now) THEN they will come up to us and say "Wow, your wrinkles are like, SO cool - are they natural?" Like that will happen LOL!
I started my silver, gray and white hair journey in 2012, when I shaved all my hair off for CancerFreeze and to honor my beautiful mama who was a 9 year breast cancer survivor. I did it to honor her and decided I would never color my hair again. For a year I just buzzed it off every 2 weeks. Then I let it grow in an asymmetrical longer the side pixie cut, I loved it that way. And now I am trying to grow it in a short curly bob. I love how your hair looks, so I too am on a journey of growing out my silver, gray and mostly white hair which is naturally curly and wavy. I love wearing head scarves, and my favorite is wearing bandanas in a variety of colors and patterns. It compliments my dark royal blue presciption glasses I have to wear and I spruced them up by adding my own bling on each corner. I have never regretted shaving off all my hair, and the best thing that happened was it is the same color my beautiful mama had:)
This is the first time I have ever seen you. You are such stunning beautiful woman. I actually subscribe. You made me feel that turning gray or white can be fun. I just love your attitude and your beautiful laugh!! Thank you!! 💞🥰
"Dalai Lama or Aerosmith - same thing"! That made my day! Think you are doing so well with growing your hair. I have hair very similar to yours, but the curls do not look good on me. I do it once in a while, but much prefer it short enough that I can blow it straight and funky! However, I did decide to keep my silvery white quarantine hair - and recently had my stylist (yay!!), cut most of the growth off, then highlight the remaining colored hair to match my roots, so there is no line of demarcation. I really like it - not totally white yet, more a platinum white (I was blonde), but in two more haircuts it will be all mine, no color!! The best part was her cancelling my next color appointment (I make appts. a year in advance!), and make it just a cut! You are an inspiration!
Thanks so much for sharing your story - it's great when you're not spending on the hair color, I was like, hmmm, why NOT buy those shoes? I just saved $125!!
You look so beautiful in this video. I am 51 and stopped colour last year due to corona.i have natural Curly hair and your looks have encouraged me on my silver journey.thanks
You are delightful!!! Thank you for this video. I stopped coloring my hair 5 months ago and it's progressing slowly. I want it now!!! Lol. You are an inspiration and so beautiful. You remind me of my aunt . She's no longer here but she was stunning as you are!!! 💕
You are a very beautiful woman, thank you for encouraging us women to embrace our grey hair, I'm on this journey now. I can't wait to see my natural hair colour. Enjoy all your videos.
I love your channel Kerry-Lou! Your happiness and warmth always come shining through no matter what the topic. I am currently letting my silvers come through and I’m planning on going cold turkey. I just grew my hair to my shoulders from a pixie and I don’t want to repeat that process any time soon!
Merry-Lou you are a delight, and a beautiful one at that! I love your attitude about gray hair. My hair is very fine and color does give it volume. I am very careful and selective in what I use for products on my hair. My hair is delicate so I pretty much stick to shampoo and conditioner that do not have harsh chemicals. I love the way gray hair looks on women who are style conscious! Whether they are 25 or 105 it looks sophisticated and gorgeous! If my hair was thicker I would take the plunge! Thank you for another great video! You're one of the best on RUclips! Stay safe. Much love, Sarah - Boston🌺
Thank you so much Sarah! You're right, a little chemical does thicken up the hair lol! My daughter has stick straight hair, and when she does some highlights, it looks fuller!
I’ve loved playing with hair color all my life. However my favorite color ever is my natural salt and pepper hair. The other thing I love is how soft and healthy my hair feels with not putting chemicals on it all the time. Love your gorgeous hair Kerry!
Thanks very much Jane, I know what you mean about how nice it feels! sometimes even if it doesn't look great, I run my hands through it because it feels so good! All the best to you x
You always look so content with yourself. I think there needs to be another saying for us as we age. "Comfortable in my hair not just my skin!" Always love your content Kerry Lou 💛🙋♀️
Yes! Thank you! Some people like my (slightly) longer curly hair, others say my shorter hair made me look younger. I do see that, but as you say, I just feel "comfortable" with it like this for now, it just feels right! xox
Love You! I have been gray for over 30 years and I just embraced it as mine was a beautiful color of silver at my temples and I just went with it.... You're so much fun and I can't wait for your next video! Now, if I can get my daughter to follow in my footsteps! lol
I am 53 and have not seen my natural color since I was about 15 (I started dying it super blonde at this age) it's now really dark and my stylist was going the glaze route, just to hide the few grays that peak through. Since Covid 19, being at home, and not being able to get to my stylist, the grays have really started coming through. I have decided to embrace them. I am letting them grow out cold turkey and my goal is to let it all grow out, then have my stylist put in some "fun" colored highlights around my face. I think your gray hair is gorgeous. Thank you for doing this video.
Oh my goodness ! No wonder you are so beautiful now . Seeing you with dark hair in the past, tells the story ! You were a beauty no matter your age or hair color ! That is a blessing from God ! It is always inspirational just to hear you talk . I am sure that I am older than you ( just turned 73 in June 2nd) , so I am soaking in the inspiration ! Thank you for sharing your tips, tricks , and techniques for taking care on skin and hair . I did go “cold turkey” and quit coloring my hair, when I lost a lot of hair due to stress, after my husband died.,I thought it looked worse to color it , being dark and so thin .The new hair came in white/silver. I decided that hair was a gift from God, and I didn’t care what color he gave me ! It is salt and pepper, with brown hair around the ears and the back ! Was hoping my baby fine hair would be replaced with more coarse hair , but it wasn’t . I really don’t mind the color at all . Just glad to have hair ! Thank you so much for your channel ! You have helped me a whole lot . Enjoy your channel from the SE USA ! 🌸💕🌸
Hi, Kerry-Lou, I am 66, I live in Brasil and I love your videos! I enjoyed very much your graying story. I also have gray hair now. I keep it medium. Let me tell you my "hairstory", as you said. When I was 50, and got my divorce, I already had some gray hair. My friends then told me, since I was single again, I should die my hair to look more young and attractive. And so I did. I kept doing that for 10 years but it was not easy to find products that didn't cause me allergies and finding the right shade similar to my grayish brown natural color. also was difficult. All that chemicals would make my hair quite dull and dry . I would look at myself in the mirror and find that my hair color didn't go well with my wrinkles. I felt like a fake trying to look younger (and not having success). That simply didn't make sense anymore. And I didn't attract any new relation, either. I also analyzed the costs of dying my hair every month for 10 years and I found that with all that money I could have traveled to Europe (and I love to travel)! So I decided to go gray and let my hair grow naturally and give a better use for my money and my time. And so I did, not without hearing some bad opinions... but I kept focused. And guess what? I felt more authentic, strong and proud of my natural look! My hair stylist helped me finding a nice flattering cut. I went to Europe and soon after I came back I met my boyfriend.
I'm 42 years old and I decided to let my hair the way God made, guess what, all my friends keep saying I'm too young to not die my hair. But I'm not giving up, letting my hair gray means being myself.
Ditched the dye and buzzed off my hair. I am done. About 10 days into growing out my buzz. Thanks for your upload. Now you have shown me a peak into the next phase-my hair is curly too. ;)
Awwwwwwwwww Kerry-Lou, that was wonderful!!! I'll be sharing this video with all of my FB Silver/Grey groups. My go to line of encouragement is similar to something you said, "It's all about the STYLE, not the color"! Also, I see that your hair length is starting to come into it's own. Looking forward to what it will look like and the ways you'll be styling it. I've told you before that your short hair (seen @ 4:18) was a huge inspiration for me to buzz mine when I was transitioning and, while I still luv your short hair style (and how mine looked at a similar length), it's FUN to embrace the new! TIP: I am almost addicted to Alberto VO5 Conditioning Hairdressing for Gray/White/Silver Blonde Hair! The tiniest dab warmed up between palms and light stroked through hair imparts such SPARKLE...it's helped me tremendously (so have big earrings and a bold lip color). BTW, I too am in the process of growing mine out, LOL. Kerry-Lou, you are a much respected GEM, in my book!
Your hair is gorgeous. I colored my hair since I was 15 - so many different shades of blonde. It was fun, and I enjoyed it. Then, about 8 years ago, I developed an allergic reaction to the hair color which made me stop the coloring. I left my hair grow out by adding lowlights here and there. Anyway, it’s now in its natural state. And, another change, I wear it curly as opposed to blowing out my natural curls. I miss the blonde and the smooth look occasionally, but I get so many compliments from strangers about my hair now, that makes me feel good. At 71-it is what it is!
Our faces are older because we are older. Changing our natural hair color to make it look younger , won't help our faces look younger! Embracing my look !Silver hair and wrinkled face ! I have earned it and I love it !
Hello Kerry-Lou! You look so beautiful!!!! Love everything about your channel! I went cold turkey to let my grays out. I cut it really short for about 4 times and voila! I’ve never regretted it not a single time. I love the way it looks and the sense of freedom. I encourage every woman out there to try it. God bless you and please, keep posting!
I stopped dyeing my hair two years ago when I was 51 because I was just tired of the whole thing. It was jet black at that point. I did a bleach to lift the black and ease the line of demarcation, which caused breakage (because of having to dye it so frequently!). So I cut to a shoulder length Bob and haven't looked back. My hair is now very long and to cover the blorange ends I've been using the fashion color depositing conditioners like Arctic Fox or Manic Panic. Sometimes I use a color just to ash out my length, sometimes I go for pink or purple because why not? And my growth, now from my chin up, is very salt and some pepper. And you know what? I get people stopping me all the time to tell me "omg your hair is so cool!!" So I'll have a purple ponytail and silver on my head. And the best part is it's conditioner so my hair loves it. And so do my kids and my husband. I earned the stripes. Anyone who thinks it makes them look older should consider this--i see plenty of women who dye their hair and it just looks fake, cold, and harsh which makes them look older. And at my age throwing highlights in to "blend" the grays doesn't blend them, it just looks dated and not very modern. Might as well have a perm or feathered hair. And why be part of the over 50 blonde brigade?! Nature gives us the colors that suit us best, and that includes the gray hair. It softens our features as we age and our complexion and tone change. I tried at 45, changed my mind, and tried again. My hair is happier and so am I. My mom stopped dyeing her hair a few years ago and at 77 now has the most beautiful snow white hair.
Thank you so much for sharing your exciting hair journey with us! I'm going to "pin" your comment, your words are very inspirational. All the best to you Kathy! x
I love all the photos of other women letting their silver show! My husband started going grey when he was in his early 20s, so he has been super supportive of me embracing my natural shade. Thanks for sharing your story!
I love grey hair . . . wish I had more, sometimes think of asking my stylist about silver highlights in the darker areas!!! Kerry-Lou . . . You Rock!!!!
You are stunning! 3 years ago, I was done with hair dye and the same pony tail hairstyle every day. I have very curly hair and it was waist length. I had it cut short and let the "wisdom" grow out. I have a mixture of dark brown, gray and white. I love it!
I let my hair go grey a number of years ago and everyone hated it and said I looked old so I went back to my double process. Then when my back acted up I said I just can;'t sit through hours of color and beach so since I was my hair short I just stopped. My hair grows very fast so it didn't take me long at all to be 100 % natural.I miss being blonde but not the upkeep. And now with not going for haircuts I have a bob already. No ugly roots as my friends are dealing with. You were always a stunning beauty, thanks for sharing the pictures. I used to have long dark chestnut hair that was stunning but I'm not 25 anymore and just happy to have hair.lol xoCathy
I love your story, thanks so much for sharing this. I'll bet your hair feels so healthy now. I have a feeling there is going to be some great sharing here! xx
I miss being blonde, too. But, sometimes I miss being 45!!! I’m almost 71 and haven’t colored my hair for a few years. What I don’t miss is the expense and the time.
As usual your comments are well thought out and so creative! I have been thinking of doing this for months, and last time I went to the stylist I told her to give me silver highlights instead of blonde so I can transition to growing it out. I really don’t have a ton of gray in my hair, but it’s enough to notice. No more hair dye for me!
I am so glad I discovered your channel, Kerry-Lou! I have decided when I go silver I am going to have the colorist color it that way so I can do it all in one fell swoop. Silver is gorgeous and so are you! Love your channel!
What a coincidence! For the past 2 weeks I've been staring at my salt and pepper roots contemplating letting it grow out and be natural. I have very dry, curly hair so from a condition standpoint, my hair will definitely benefit from the transition. I did an experiment with purple shampoo to try and tone down my dyed/faded areas that have become very brassy during quarantine. It also brightened up my gray roots quite a bit. Have you ever used a purple toning shampoo to brighten your hair or tone down any yellowing? I think if my hair had a more solid line of silver this would be an easier decision. I still have so much dark brown left. Thanks for the encouraging video! :)
You're welcome! Yes, I've tried a few purple shampoos, I'll do a video on them in the near future, which one do you like? Maison 276 keeps hair sparkling nicely, not purple though. All the best to you! x
Thank you so much!!
If you are on Instagram, follow me, and I'll follow you back - I want to see your hair journey! All the best to you xox
Thank you so much, I’m so glad that you’re happy with your short hair! Changes happen when you’re ready for them 😉
you make me confidence to have grey hair. Thanks for your sharing Kelly.
So glad this helped! x
Congratulations on the recovery Carol - and you found a silver lining to boot! All the best to you warrior lady!
Fantastic to see so many women empowered by the transition to grey!
Stopped colouring mine 6 years ago. Love the freedom. Also was never allowed to grow my hair so now I can almost sit on it. Thank you for your sharing. Love your show.
Thanks for sharing your journey. I'm 16 months dye freedom! Loving my wisdom highlights!
Kerry-Lou, I really love your graciousness and refined demeanor while you share such great information with your viewers. Thank you so much.
You are so welcome Kathleen, thank you for your sweet comment, I really appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing your story! x
Loved it! Pics were beautiful because you are beautiful 🙏🏻💖🌷
Thank you so much!
Thanks Brenda, yes it saves a lot of money!
You are wonderful!
So glad I found your program. I am now even closer to letting my hair go grey!
Thank you!!🌸
Wonderful, I hope you enjoy your grey as much as I enjoy mine! All the best! xx
So positive and encouraging. You're a terrific, classy lady. Thank you for sharing your interesting story.
I Adore Kerry-Lou. She has a wonderful speaking voice...very relaxing. Also, all her ideas work for all women. All the Best, Debra Bader 🎀
You're very beautiful!!!! I'm 64 and finally made up my mind to go grey. I'm scared and excited at the same time. I'm just hoping it will look good for me so I can just relax and be happy the rest of my days. Thanx for the motivation!!💕
Thanks so much Debra, I'm sure it will look great! Just see how it looks, you can always change your mind, although you probably won't! x
Thank you 🙏
Thank you! Good luck with your silver journey 👍🏻
Thank you so much for your message to all of us who are now Silver Sisters! You are so beautiful!!
You are so welcome, thanks for watching! x
I dyed my hair for 25 years, i have never regretted letting my gray take over!! I think your hair is gorgeous Kerry Lou!
Thank you!
Your voice is so soft and calming. You are beautiful. You AND your hair. ❤
I appreciate that, thanks so much!
I wish I could see photos of all my lovely RUclips viewers - it sounds like your hair is a great color! It's a good time to embrace grey for sure! xx
I was so happy to see your post in my Inbox today.... just yesterday I thought "I haven't seen any posts from Kerry-Lou. Hope she is well." Voila! Here you are looking gorgeously happy.... such an inspiration.
Your hair is beautiful ! I’m 53 and don’t have any grey yet but I’m not worried about it coming in when it does.
Its been 2 years now going grey and absolutely loving it more diver in my front and a little salty on sides and back...I've had so many compliments....I sure have done it sooner...yours has been so beautiful and u gave me the courage to go for it
.stay safe and have an awesome day💕💕
Great to hear! Everyone says the same thing - should have done it sooner! so glad you're happy with your hair Karen! x
You are an absolute role model and I feel very supported and liberated by everything you say about going grey and I thank you for this!
You are so welcome, thank you so much!
I appreciate your story. Was so happy when I finally let the color. Not to mention the texture is so much improved.
This hairstyle & variations in colour look lovely & playful. 🥰
Just started my journey, destination unknown ... You are always so positive and inspiring, thank you.
Love your happy spirit, so refreshing. Your hair is beautiful.
Oh, i can relate to the "it makes you look older." Your hair does not make you look older, its stunning!!
Thanks so much!
Thanks SO much Lynne! x
Kerry-Lou of course you can use this, especially if it can help others look at graying in a new way. ❤️
Kerry-Lou do you have a video of how you curl your hair? Or is it natural? I love it!!
Good for you!!! I have had a similar experience since I decided to be natural!!!
Love it! So true, the plumber was right, all the men in my life were really encouraging when I first decided to stop colouring my hair at 40.
Dear Kerry-Lou, I love your hair, trying to wear it the way you do but it ever comes out that way. Thanks 🙏🏻😍
You're truly one of a kind ❤! Unfortunately most people would just look if they don't know how to care for it
Hello from Greece.
I love your story, thank you. The woman you saw in the salon was truly an "influencer", how wonderful!
Awwwh, you are so beautiful Kerry-Lou , inside and out. A great inspiration too. Thanks to your positive attitude I'm feeling really confident about just cutting off the brown dye & embracing the silver. I can't wait. I'tl feel great! :-)
Just starting my gray hair journey 3 mos in.....ty for the encouragement...your hair color is magnificent!
You're welcome! do check out the #grombre on Instagram, it will help! Good luck, keep in touch!
I just discovered Kerry Lou, she gave some wonderful advice. I am trying to decide if I should embrace grey hair. She looks beautiful!
I'd love to discuss this with you, please email me if you like, contact info in bio, thanks! xx
A subscriber here, love you so much for giving inspiration to ladies with gray hair problems. Thanks for giving tips on staying glam.
You are so welcome! Thanks so much! x
I love your hair and your history. Loved when you said “I am what I am ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Patricia! x
Kerry! I loved seeing your hair photos! You are such a beautiful person. Thank you for this video! ~Maria
You are so welcome! and thank you so much for your lovely comment! x
Thank you for inspiration, I love your videos. I do get negative reactions from people but listening to you inspires me. Thank you!
You are so welcome! All the best to you x
So beautiful, so classy! It makes your young face stand out, you look smart!! 👍
Thanks so much, these comments are SO helpful to people struggling with this decision! x
Thank you!! 💞🥰
Thanks for subbing and for your kind words! :-)
Kerry-Lou Exactly!
You look so beautiful in this video.
I am 51 and stopped colour last year due to corona.i have natural Curly hair and your looks have encouraged me on my silver journey.thanks
Thanks so much! I hope you're loving your new look! xx
You are delightful!!! Thank you for this video. I stopped coloring my hair 5 months ago and it's progressing slowly. I want it now!!! Lol. You are an inspiration and so beautiful. You remind me of my aunt . She's no longer here but she was stunning as you are!!! 💕
Thank you so much for your sweet comment, and I hope this video encourages you to hang in there until your silver crown is revealed! 😊
Love your hair Kerry Lou!!❤️ Really contemplating going grey. So sick and tired of my hair falling out and looking so drab. Thanks for sharing!
Gray hair looks great when is stiled and taken care of! I'm not there yet but I admire people that show their gray hair while being stilish!
Gorgeous woman! Gorgeous hair! She is so confident. Gave me some ideas to think about too. 🙏🏽
I remember all your beautiful photos. You still Got it ❤️
Oh my goodness !
You are so kind, thank you so much for your lovely words and encouragement! All the best to you Charlotte! x
Kerry-Lou .🌸💕🌸
Oh, your story gave me goosebumps, so inspirational! Thanks so much for sharing this, such a great lesson to be your authentic self!
@@kerrylou3 Thank you so much, Kerry-Lou!
Authentic is the word, all right. I had the exact same experience. So grateful to be old, so many unexpected psychological benefits.
Great story! Please post a pic..
Thanks for sharing, well put!
All the best to you Kathy! x
I think it's great having grey to white hair especially if it's natural and it saves you a lot of money dying your hair ☺😊
Oh sweetheart you look so beautiful. I’m 67 and still don’t have a lot of gray yet but I think it is just beautiful 👏👏👏
Thank you so much!
I love all the photos of other women letting their silver show! My husband started going grey when he was in his early 20s, so he has been super supportive of me embracing my natural shade. Thanks for sharing your story!
Wow! Pahla B in the house :-D I just worked out with you lol! Glad you liked the video, thanks for stopping by x
Love Pahla’s fitness routines
Fun to see you here! It's the gray revolution.
Thank you very much Kari. That's a great way for a blonde to transition, thanks for sharing!
You are so inspiring! I also have curly hair I am growing out grey, and I have been considering cutting it short, Love yours♥️
Thanks so much! I enjoyed it very short, and I like this too! Happy Holidays!
I am so glad I discovered your channel, Kerry-Lou! I have decided when I go silver I am going to have the colorist color it that way so I can do it all in one fell swoop. Silver is gorgeous and so are you! Love your channel!
You are so kind, thank you! Sounds like a great plan, let me know how it goes!
Absolutely ! Embrace it !! You are beautiful !!
All the best to you! x
You hair is incredible. It is exciting to see the possibilities for curly grey hair like ours.
Thanks so much!
I loved watching this and hearing about your silver journey!
Thank you so much!
